grebdizer, Getta Robo G and Great Mazinger Movie
Akilae replied to bob joe mac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Shin Getter Robo Armageddon. Old school animation done in clean, crisp modern techniques. -
The Kobayashi Maru scene was probably the single one scene that didn't exactly play out for me. Kirk was a bit too... blatantly smug.

It's alive!!! I still have my HW2 cd in hand, just for this...

I play Eve... and yes, sometimes it gets tedious and boring... then again, life with Goonswarm gets interesting at times.

Ugh... a supposed reboot and they still have to revert to time travel...

Yeah, I'm also waiting on some sort of final word on the PSP 3000 v. PSP 2000. My MAF sits unopened... as does my Disgaea... as does my GBU...

You want the Better Power Armor mod... maybe even with assisted targeting!

Ahh.. that slaver camp... Dogmeat did the same thing to me... twice. The third time I got fed up and climbed onto the cliff overlooking the Behemoth's pen, pulled out the sniper rifle and shot the generator hooked up to the fence. The Behemoth got out and went on a rampage. Imagine my surprise when the Slavers actually managed to kill it! Thankfully by then there were only three slavers left when I waltzed in to finish the job.

A group of ex-Marines have taken over the island and the gov't has sent a chemist and a geriatric to save the day. The F/A-18s are there just in case they screw up!

My god.. just took over an hour to finish Head of State. A few days ago I couldn't finish the quest... ol Hannibal told me to meet them at Lincoln Memorial, so I went back to Megaton to sell all of my loot, then went to Lincoln Memorial. Nobody was there. I figured I'd wait... and wait... and waited for a whole week (game time), and still nobody showed up. Today I figured I'd escort the whole gaggle over to Lincoln Memorial, and figured out the problem. Along the way the caravan was waylaid by Yao-guai (a pack of three), a Mr. Gutsy, two protectortrons, twelve raiders (one of which had a missile launcher), two hunters, four super mutants, countless ghouls... not to mention all the stupid AI pathing problems. Hannibal kept on getting caught on lamposts, fire hydrants, even getting trapped when exiting the metro station. I kept on having to push up against him to get him in the clear so he could proceed at his leisurely pace. In the end, it took almost two hours, but I got them safely to Lincoln Memorial...

I think it's important to keep in mind that map markers are actually given to you by NPCs. For the hunt for the Family, the NPCs have no idea where the Family comes from, so you are not presented with clear map markers. It's up to you to actually find the Family. It's not hard either, since you are given three possible locations, of which one actually does lead to the Family. Getting around Washington DC was a little frustrating, especially I didn't actually know about map markers until I arrived at the Museum of History, lol. I just prepared for the worst and loaded up on ammo. I actually haven't suffered from any ammo shortage though. A steady supply of Talon mercs provides me with 5.56, energy cells, and micro fusion cells. What I can't get off them I sell their guns and armor and buy from Moira or the caravans. I think at one point I was sitting on 2000 rounds of 5.56... then I had to go save the Rangers and burned through 1/3 of that. Generally if you're good about picking up ALL the trash you come across early in the game you shouldn't have any money or ammo shortages.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Akilae replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Dead Space is really something... it's like Event Horizon + Alien + Aliens. I'm on my second run through, with the military armor and pulse rifle, going all out Marines style! Anybody else playing Valkyria Chronicles? I've found it amazingly addicting, and the pencil-sketch style 3D graphics is just all kinds of awesome. -
I can't imagine what lvl 40 will be like. I'm lvl 11 and already I'm not all that afraid of super mutant packs. I don't think I'll ever get around to doing the main quest, I'll just roam the Capitol Wasteland bringing the law to raiders and slavers.

I don't think I've ever found a motorcycle handbreak in a container. I only found 2, and both were just lying on the ground near some motorcycle gas tanks.

My char is also using combat armor right now. I thought I was the only one thinking colonial marines! For some reason I find my 10 Luck char has the damnest of luck. First time out of Megaton, and he gets jumped by a Yao-guai. I haven't run into Talon Company guys yet either, which is sort of disappointing. I was hoping to rely on their armor and weapons to keep my char armed.

Been playing through FO3 all night. It's addicting, wandering the wastelands. I think Bethesda really nailed the atmosphere here. It really hit home that I was in a sobering postapocalyptic world when I came to the One thing that does break the atmosphere for me sometimes is I keep hearing Morrowind/Oblivion VAs and for a quick second think I'm back on Morrowind... It's funny how the guys over at NMA are saying it's a fine, atmospheric game, but "it's not Fallout!" Almost as if they love it but just cannot bring themselves to admit it.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Akilae replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'd rather deal with gamestop than deal with ebay and paypal. Of course, if I could find somebody who was willing to buy my games, then I would do that... anybody want Assassin's Creed and Armored Core 4? lol. -

Does anybody know if Gamestop will take in used-used games? Like, games I bought from them used, and have the big yellow stickers on them... will they buy those back at all? -
And a villain turns hero... I can't help but think things can't go well for Peter from now on though...

To maintain target facing when up in the air, I usually boost up and backwards, then boost in the opposite direction that my target is headed in while turning towards the target. It helps to use type-B controls, which seem to make more sense IMHO. If you're not hitting anything, then it could be your arms (maneuverability) or FCS (lock-on time)... or your gun (some guns just don't track well). You might actually enjoy AC4A a bit more... I don't think I've actually completed AC4, but AC4A has me doing the missions over and over again... I've also had those "ZOE moments" with a dual moonlight flier on unlimited energy. Altitude control is still finicky, but with blade tracking you fly up or down towards whatever target you're locked onto anyway. I'd say trade AC4 in for AC4A.
-
You're not really intended to maintain a constant height... but if you want to do it, it's harder in AC4 than it is in AC4A, since boosting was given an increase in power and efficiency in AC4A. But you can try this: Equip the most efficient generator you can afford. You're looking for something with lots of output. Go light though, since lighter NEXTs have an easier time "flying". For your main booster, equip something that has a good vertical boost. For side boosters, go with something with a good horizontal boost. Back boosters just go with something efficient. Note that if you REALLY want to fly, then your build will have an efficient boost (i.e. lower energy usage), but your quickboost will be very unimpressive. If you just want a limited amount of levitivaty, then you can go with power so you can quickboost around and actually dodge. To maintain constant altitude pulse your boosters by not jamming down on the trigger. The idea is to space your boosting so your generator can catch up with your energy usage. Keep in mind to have an effective flyer, you'll want to keep yourself to ballistic weapons. Energy weapons will only take away what precious energy you need for boosting. OR, you could just pick up AC4A, slap on regulation 1.15 and enjoy unlimited energy

Well, AC4A was developed as a native XBOX360 game after all... but things aren't as bad as they sound. My pet gripe about AC4 and AC4A is that it's TOO fast. It's to the point where anything other than gatlings and missiles can't hit any NEXTs at all, since most of them spend too much time in the air and quickboosting around, effectively making bazookas and grenade launchers useless. Anything that's not a light/mid part is also partly neutered, seeing how lightweight generators outperform heavies and tank legs no longer offer decent armor.
-
I haven't run into any serious issues... then again, AC4 never crashed on me like it was supposed to, so... the only serious problem I've had is the game lagging when I send out a flight of missiles and collapse large sections of buildings/highways, etc... the dust that kicks up will lag the system down (so far only in the arena map with all the highway overpasses). Other than that, it's been a pretty good gaming experience on my PS3. EDIT: Added AC4 never crashed (knock on wood...)

I just got this a few days ago, working through it right now... Chainguns are awesome now in that they actually feed off a drum (as opposed to being clip based in the previous ACs). Heat is GONE! Then again, that also means you can't overheat enemy NEXTs (ACs)... Game pace is MUCH faster now, to the point where missile dodging with a light fast NEXT has a very Mac Plus feel to it. In fact, with a machine gun, forget about dodging, you can shoot them down! The downside is that EVERYTHING is fast. Forget about blading enemy NEXTs, and my favourite tactic in the AC3 days (tank legs and dual grenade launchers) no longer work since it seems as if everybody and their mom can boost and evade like crazy. Don't even get me on the first serious NEXT fight... $#I($# White Glint... I'd say controls are much better and not clunky at all, compared to previous ACs. I went with the B control scheme and inverted the Y-axis and felt right at home. Overall, I'd say it's worth the purchase if only for a completely refreshing look at the AC series.

Am I the only person that thinks the RIP just might be bomb nose art? After all, you have a nose art design just above it on the same page...
