Sure you mean prior to WW2, or after WW1 =) If Jutland was any indication, battlewagons slugging it out won't be that effective... then again, back then they didn't have radar fire control systems... would be interesting to see how an Iowa dishes out damage on a moving target that actually fires back. IMHO, BBs are remarkablly 2 dimensional weapons, since well-placed hits from either a submarine (mm... a Type II mag pistol, one meter below the keel... heh, sorry flashbacks to Silent Hunter III) or an aircraft could be enough to seriously cripple or sink one.

Reika is an acceptable translation for the same Kanji, and is accurate to series pronounciation. The english translation on the Japanese site is irrelavent. IIRC, Mahou even has a page explaining their choice of translation for that name. Essentially, they're using the Japanese pronounciation for the kanji, while "Lihua" is the Chinese pronounciation.

So is A1 & Ak ep 8....... it was "ehh" I guess more stuff to complain about but Im too lazy to. U guys can have that fun. How do A1 & AK's quality compare to Mahou's? Mahou is REALLY dragging their feet these days... I'm still waiting for their Trinity Blood Ep. 3, grr...

Woot! Another fellow sociologist! And I thought I was the only one studying social behaviours on this board j/k My collection started with Batman, back when the first movie came out. I got all the action figures, the Batmobile, Bob (gotta love Bob, lol)... sometime in Junior High a friend showed me his painted, weathered, and decaled Tamiya Tiger I and Chieftan tanks, and I was blown away. Thus began my path down the dark si... the modelling road I put together mostly Tamiyas (M-2, M-3, F-14, Suzuki Katana...) except never actually "completed" any collection, no disposable income and all that, lol. Never really became an accomplished modeller either, shaky hands Also did a few Gundams, but for some reason I never found interesting in anything other than the F-91. High school was my Magic: The Gathering years (around that time my young cousins came of age and wrecked my models... my precious.... sob...). Those were the days of whipping out that uber-rare-powerful card and having everybody go "Whoa!" over it Still got my three decks and a near-complete Ice Age collection, manage to play whenever them younglings don't yell "Foul!!" at my out-of-reg cards and not-so-formal rules. I actually liked the early Magic days more, when a lot of the rules were general guidelines... half the fun of the game was trying to convince the other guy that your interpretation of the rules were the right one, lol. College... man... that's when anime really kicked in. Trigun was the only collection I completed, but I sold it off to some guy in my dorm when I graduated. Then, one day, I got into a debate with a friend over Robotech/Macross (I remembered Macross from waaaay back when, he remembered Robotech, we couldn't figure out why our notes didn't match), and that's where it began. First I got the Macross TV series to refresh my memory, then Plus, then II, which I actually liked. Not M7, cause that was actually the first Macross series I had seen in its entirety on TV... and wasn't impressed. The M7 Trash manga had a much better plot. Managed to get onto the MW boards while I was looking around for Macross info, and all you mofos ruined my life, lol. Buying up on Saint Seiya, GFF figures, and 1/48 Valks. Thankfully 1/48 Valks are hard to find in Taiwan... got only two(1S and Hikaru Super) and a fast pack, and still haggling with my supplier over a VF-1J that I want for the GPB armour (the SOLE regular provider of 1/48s in Taiwan... and the bastard jacks up prices like there's no tomorrow). eh, that's the long and short of it.

OT, but I asked on the PSP thread and nobody saw it How is Bleach?

Must be keeping with tradition, since A7 started with anime reviews, right?

Anybody else notice the VF-4-esque fighters in Ep. 6? Looked awesome with the FSWs...

Note to self: avoid firmware updates. can't, supposedly newer games coming out will automatically update your firmware, whether you want to or not. Actually, you can choose not to, but that just means no more new games... Hate it when they do this

The armor is mounted right, at least compared to earlier photos. Looking back at the very first GPB pic we saw, I think angles will make a very big difference with this one... none of that 45-degrees elevated position for this baby!

So this being an evolution of the GBA... does it also play cartridges all the way back to the original GB?
-
WoW all the way, Akilae on Lothar. Not too big on Korean MMORPGs. But for completeness sake, we outta include MUDs in the list used to play on Aardwolf before WoW came out, good memories

So... does this confirm that there will be no GPB bundle?

egad... I need to get my THX widescreen VHS cassettes transferred to DVD... always thought the Christiansen head switch was some sort of joke...

Interesting... looks to be an extension of the MGS2: SOL story line. Is that Raiden I see holding a baby? Nice to see him back, Snake is getting a tad bit old for all this action stuff

I find that MMOs save a lot of money... if you're a rational buyer. After the initial 50 I paid for WoW, I'm only paying the monthly fees for the account, which is substantially less than what I would otherwise spend if buying individual games. Sometimes timesinks and grinding can be a GOOD thing Now if only I could find a way to save on PS2 games... the prices on those dang things just don't drop fast enough!

IMHO, it depends on what you're looking for. Most CG as we see it (FF, MGS, etc..) aim for that 3D CG look. Appleseed went for the cell shaded look, it has its merits I think.

I like how the d-pad is now slanted to fit the angle of the wrist... My pet peeve for almost all controllers: when will they slant the axis for the analog sticks? Or at least let the user calibrate the X and Y axis? For some reason my thumb seems to be stuck to X/Y axis relative to my wrist, instead of relative to the controller, hard to pull off certain combos like that

mm... an Armored Core chogokin....

Dunno how accurate this is, and I'm sure it's a biased POV, but according to "Skunk Works", it was SAC and Cheney that wanted the Blackbird down and out. Lockheed actually made an offer to reactivate and service the Blackbird for Desert Storm, but that also got shot down by Cheney, "Once we let this damn airplane back in, we'll never get it back out." Well, in hindsight, drones nowadays seem to be partially filling the role, although a lot slower and a lot lower. Aren't U-2s still in regular service for weather research?

Saw the Duellists on recommendation from "By The Sword". Then saw it again right after. It's one of those gems that never really hit mainstream. IMHO one of the better swordfighting films around. If you like it, buy the DVD! The movie has yet to recoup its initial production costs! Ridley Sott's commentaries on the DVD are worth the price.

BSG: Battlestar Galactica. 375 megs doesn't sound very impressive though, barely 3 episodes on a 1 gig card... I want Sony to release UMD writers and UMD discs damnit! Anybody care to say a few words on the Bleach game? Between that, Lumines, and another game I might actually jump onto the PSP bandwagon... maybe a Naruto or SRW game... yeah..
-
Huh, this is interesting, just found out that we still have three operational Blackbirds around... anybody know if they're just there for NASA to perform fancy speed tests or for those "just in case" scenarios that Congress seems to think about all the time (a la keeping two Iowas in the Navy ship registry...)?

For some reason the game is beginning to sound like a TIE Fighter-esque one man against the entire enemy fleet Granted I loved going mano y mano against Mon Cals in a TIE Defender, but still... that's no way to run a battle!

A movie about Chengis Khan would never work without portraying the Mongols as the "bad" guys... although a movie about Temuchin would work. Subtle difference, but entirely different way to portray the man. Unfortunately, "Temuchin" doesn't inspire the imaginations of countless orientalists. I'd love to see a movie about the Horde that terrorized Asia and Eastern Europe, and turned the Russians into a quivering mass of xenophobes.

yeah... Sci-Fi just isn't big in our side of the world... I miss SG-1, grr.... Although for some odd reason Farscape is on from time to time
