I think I figured how Song Energy is able to counteract a Super Dimension Energy blast. In Macross 7 The Galaxy is Calling Me , Emilia's song reached Macross 7 through a dimensional anomally. In Frontier the Vajra Queen was able to create a Dimensional Rift barrier for itself. That is how Fire Bomber was able to protect themselves and Macross 7 from the Protodevlin's SD energy blasts. Basically the Song Energy creates a dimensional rift. Which doesn't surprise because Song Energy converters use SD energy as well. Though not impenetrable like the Queen.

Protoculture Mythology so to speak. Has humanity surpassed the Protoculture? No not yet. While humanity has not dabbled into creating servant races or sub-races they still have issues in developing AI. AIs can be potentially our legacy as much humans, Zentradi and Zolans are the legacy of the Protoculture.

Its unpredictable. But at this point of history people will still be weary of AI as a group of humans willing became machines and tried to take over the galaxy. Unless Luca starts to create a Macross or Valkyrie version of the Bolo. Utterly loyal to humanity to the point of self sacrifice. Of course there is also the question we are merely taking the same steps as the Protoculture. Creating our nominal descendants through AI. Sounds NBSG-ish doesn't it? The Zentradi were as much the children of the Protoculture as humans and Zolans.
