  1. I'm saving that along with Isamu Dyson's record.
  2. In Macross 7 Exsedol knew about the Protodevlin but didn't know the details until he came upon the Protoculture ruins on Lux. Same goes with miclones and reaction weapons. All of them were useless trivia until it faced him. Up until the fact it was all myth and legend. In Macross TV it was Bodolle Zer who told Exsedol about the Protoculture. Thus the old standing orders not to mess with miclones started to make sense. By the end of the war Exsedol figured out the origins of the Zentradi as weapons of the Protoculture and the collapse of the Stellar Republic into civil war. It was not until the Lux Ruins did Exsedol find out the origin of the Protodevlin and the Supervision Army whom the Zentradi Army fought. The only other Protoculture expert that we know of is Mao Nome. Perhaps Mao used whatever Protoculture trivia Zentradi advisers had to track down old Protoculture stomping grounds and stumbled on the Vajra in 2040.
  3. To put it simply Macross in all its incarnations is meta-fiction within the Macross universe. That is what Shouji Kawamori basically said. Plus the fact Kawamori loved the DYRL designs. Watch Macross 7 The Galaxy is Calling Me and you get the idea that DYRL is a movie canonically. Also Macross 7 episode 37 also references the ruins is reminicent of the DYRL movie. On the otherhand according to Big West Macross II is a direct sequel to DYRL.
  4. She's smaller than I thought. I thought she was bigger than the Valhalla III. Does anybody know the Bridge Operator character names in Macross M3?
  5. http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2030 Given what is written on the old site and this I guess you'll either face one or the other of the units then it would later combine.
  6. Peter may be remembering the English dub of Macross instead. It had the Macross OP of Hikaru launching from the Macross over the city. As a kid I used to watch SDF Macross along with Blue Noah aka Thundersub in the late 80's.
  7. Thanks. She may not be a Macross but she is the pride of the Zola Patrol.
  8. Is there anything published about the length of the Zola Patrol vessel?
  9. I'm starting to think the black ones belong to Macross Galaxy. They are kind of reminicent of the bugs in Macross M3.
  10. When Grace ordered the Vajra to attack everywhere this is presumable just NUNG planets and fleets. But what if she succeeded in her plan. Would she be bold enough to order the Vajra to control or exterminate the Zentradi and Supervision Army fleets?
  11. You do bring an interesting point that Vajra weapons are an adaption. But an adaption to who? A direct threat to the Vajra themselves I can think of is the Protodevlin and their Supervision Army 500,000 years ago. Supposedly the Protodevlin were so gluttonous that they threatened a galaxy wide extinction event.
  12. The fate of the Battlestar Valkyrie.
  13. The guy was in the fence. On one side he wants to find Minmay either by exploiting the Vajra's fold quartz ,Leon's plan, or going along with what Galaxy Anonymous network scheme. On another he did give his own boys a fighting chance by tipping off Capt. Wilder. If episode 15 means anything Galaxy Anonymous does not trust Bilrer because they don't know what he is pulling. Why manipulate the Frontier government into going towards that region of space. The guy is probably richer than they are. This sort of uncertainty was used by Leon and Grace to exploit Luca towards their side. In episode 16 Bilrer told Alto he wanted to unite the children of the Protoculture (Humans, Zentradi, Zolan etc) using fold quartz. Travel within the galaxy would be no hassle. Course Luca was afraid Bilrer will monopolize fold quartz technology.
  14. Thus perhaps the reluctance to present the Supervision Army as a viable enemy. As far as we know the Supervision Army is both composed of Protoculture and Zentradi. Though I do wonder what sort of fighter complement they had. Exsedol thought the Varauta Valkyries were familiar but he dismissed it. Posibly because they weren't Zentradi. The layout of the ASS-1 sugested it was crewed by both miclones and Zentradi. Otherwise they could be just using battle pods in Protodevlin colors.
  15. Oh please Destroid pilots live to enjoy their retirements. Just look at the Monster crew in Macross 7's veteran retirement home. And they get to keep the Destroid as part of their pension!
  16. Unite? Not so much. Galaxy Anonymous were transhumanist traitors. To them you are either another parallel processor or you are dead if you resist.
  17. Glaugs and Regulds weren't the only ones that have similarity to Vajra. Given that the Meltrandi have more machine aesthetic ships it is always my theory that much like in DYRL the organic style and machine style ships represented different factions of the Protoculture.
  18. Nobody knew Fold Faults existed until the 117th Fleet studied the Vajra. Within 8 years of studying these creatures they discovered the Vajra did not have any relativistic travel lag or communication lag. This led to the question as to why humans coudn't do the same as they do. Two years before the 117th was lost understanding of dimensional sciences improved. Dr. Chiba's Sound Detectors was an example of such.
  19. Polygon (Firing Range) by Anatoly Petrov Frankly its function of self-preservation psychology reminded me of the what is said about Sharon Apple and the X-9 Ghost in Macross Plus.
  20. And you wonder why nobody wants this guy. Every place he comes to becomes a warzone.
  21. Some see the factionalization by colonization and emmigration as a danger to all humanity that they tried to grab power. Col. Wilbur Garland of VF-X2 saw the writing in the wall that another invasion was inevitably coming sooner or later. His goal is for Humanity to be united under one banner before that happens. Even if at the cost of the liberty of those among colony worlds and fleets. So through trickery he took command of both the SDF-1 Macross and Macross 13 to control the very heart of the NUNG, Earth. Oh there have been insurrections and civil wars if Isamu Dyson's record is any indication. From these conflicts people like Loscier (Macross Dynamite 7) who run a black market profit.
  22. Yeah basically. But the Vajra was likely not the only influence for them. There is a reason why the Spiral was adapted as the symbol for the Protoculture. Red Vajra have spirals on them, also the Vajra homeworld Queens layer has a Spiral lair. Red ones were the inspiration for the Glaugs while the Green ones were the inspiration for the Regulds. They love the Queen's so much wings that they adapted it for both the Birdman and some of the Evil Series. The other source of the Spiral is the Galactic Whales. Like the Vajra these creatures can space fold. When a Galactic Whale dies its corpse is absorbed in a fantastic drain action towards the Whale graveyard. A Spiral of Life Energy given back to the Planet Zola. There is a very good indication that the murals and script on whale bones were written by the Protoculture for their Zolan descendants. Zolans are another race created by biological intervention much like humans by the Protoculture. Where humans came from a primate, Zolans evolved from marsupials. Now the the Protoculture were so in awe of the Great White Whale so much that they call it a god. The thing eats reaction warheads for breakfast and has lived for millions of years. Which makes me think the whole Fishman and Birdman Mayan legend is in fact an analogy by the Protoculture towards the White Whale and the Vajra Queen. One thing humanity has surpassed the Protoculture in regards to the Galactic Whales is that Nekki Basara has performed a duet with them. Oh yeah Vajra are hivemind space bugs while Vahla Ena (Galactic Whales) are actually intelligent space plants that can sing.
  23. Cause its Cool? Plus the whole humanoid attacker mode is something uniquely human. That particular feature has been integrated to all ships that bear the title Macross. Also a handy PPB Punch for Daedalus/ARMD/Macross Attack for close quarters.
  24. Isn't that what I said? It becomes shorter in firing mode
  25. In terms of logistics humanity hasn't beaten the Protoculture. 4 million plus fleet of ships and their Boddole Mobile Fortress. That is one fleet out of thousands. Moon sized factories producing weapons non-stop. The Protoculture doesn't need to get into the firefight themselves. Where as humanity's greatest mobile weapon, a Macross, has limited production runs. A Macross fleet has around 200 ships with it.
