Yep Three for Macross 5. On the otherhand in the M7 prologue Macross 1 appears to have four shelless dome City Class
-
Interesting... So the NUNS logo could be an amalgamated symbol representing the three military services of Humans, Zentradi and Zolan as one.
-
Well in VF-X-2 they refer to themselves as UN Spacy or United Forces.

Special forces in the Macross universe
RedWolf replied to Macross007's topic in Movies and TV Series
http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36698#msg36698 Thanks to Sketchley. Hmm... Makes me wonder how many teams comprise the VF-X Ravens. Aegis Focker's team I heard is Alpha Team of the VF-X Ravens. Much like the old Skull Squadron having several teams under Roy. Speaking of Skull this the first time I heard that the Dancing Skulls is a small team. Dancing Skulls were not not only Max and Millia as there is also Moaramia. Also Max and Millia weren't exactly regulars as they come on and off. Off meaning Millia giving birth and raising girls. Hopefully more info about the special forces carriers will come to light. The Dancing Skulls Algenicus, the VF-X Ravens Saratoga II and the Valhalla III. All of which come off as unique designs or low production run ships. -
Macross Digital Mission VF-X query. Did Earth get a visit or almost a visit from that Mobile Fortress? Since Earth officials were so eager abandon colonies and fleets to their fates could the event be contributing factor for the change?

Caprica! Dynasty Meets BSG
RedWolf replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I mean Taurons literally speak Latin. Taurons refer to the Roman versions of the gods. Sam swore by the name of Mars that he and the Ha'la'tha would avenge Joseph's wife and daughter deaths if he gives the word. Which is interesting in the Caprican patheon Aurora is part of the big 12 gods. Aurora isn't a Greek deity but a Roman one. The composition of the Colonial gods is different from the Greek pantheon of 12 but only Aurora , Starbuck's patron god, is a Roman god. Well the architectural Aztecs with pyramids are the Virgons. Seen in The Plan. -
A Valkyrie squadron. I assumed it was the Amazon rainforest where the gunship crashed. 20% of the planet's oxygen comes from the Amazon. Obviously Earth isn't a dead planet. The Grand Cannon did manage to kill off a portion of Bodolle Zer's fleet.

Caprica! Dynasty Meets BSG

Apparently Tauron is Latin. Capricans are Greeks while Taurons are Romans. This is not to say there is only polytheism in the Colonies. nBSG stated there are followers of Mithras which are some what tolerated. Also there could be a Scandinavian or Viking culture somewhere with naming Ragnar and Valkyrie. It is the followers of the One that is persecuted and the Capricans were weary of. Then again Capricans are portrayed as off world racists. From the minister of defense to Tamara Adama. -
You know what I always wondered about Top Gamlin. From his profile Gamlin was raised in Mars yet we see him in his childhood that is obviously not Mars.

Well elites as it were during the late 2030's and early 2040's have a color-animal naming scheme. For example the UN Spacy Marine platoon of the ill fated Varauta expedition called itself Blue Rhinoceros Squad. Macross 7 has mostly a jewel themed naming scheme such as Diamond Force, Emerald Thunder and . The tactical wing that get called out most and has a high casualty rate is Angel Squadron. Macross Frontier's NUNS squadrons have a color naming scheme such as Purple Squadron and Vermillion Squadron. Diamond Squadron seems to be a exception. There is also the star naming scheme such as Brera's Antares Team and Alto's Sagitarius Team. Also there is Isamu's Eagle Squadron before he got dumped at New Edwards Airforce Base on Eden. Special forces more cool sounding names such as the VF-X Ravens and the Dancing Skulls. Oddly squadron names of the original Macross is the most homaged. Angel, Apollo, Purple and Vermillion Squadrons. Skulls isn't much used though it could be a case like the VF-19. It is the hero squadron thus only Dancing Skull and SMS Skull squads get to use them.

After Space War 1 Queadluun-Raus no longer were exclusively for Meltrans. As seen with Quamzin and Laplamiz's rebels. Didn't pay any attention but interesting they are using SDF Macross TV version of the Queadluun-Rau. With The Fleet of the Strongest Women using the DYRL version does this mean both versions exist in the continuity?

Operation M is plan that has been in the back burner and part of the budget for decades. Thing is until Basara they didn't find anybody or opportunity to properly implement it. I suspect Macross Frontier has its own version of Operation M when Leon Mishima recommended that should they use songs on the Vajra to President Howard Glass. Seven years later Operation M is still around in Macross 7 for a new generation of musical pilots.

We also have to consider that UN Spacy/NUNS is just a branch of the military. For all we know the UN Army primarily has the monopoly on the destroids. Heck the UN Army was the primary sponsor of Project Super Nova.
-
I take it that Isamu is one of those who are scouted by UN Spacy. The concept is seen in Macross 7 Trash with T-Crush players prize for the tournament was being a VF pilot. The concept is again seen in Macross Frontier with Alto as Cathy tried to blackmail him into joining. But Ozma pulled the rug under her that time. As for Isamu its either he gets sent to a warzone or anywhere he goes becomes a warzone... Yeah the guy has trouble wrtten all over him that is why nobody wanted him under their command.

About the Macross Chronicles

Is weird when I saw this and thought "So cute~"? -
That is interesting as we do not know when Zola formally joined Human-Zentradi hedgemony. Hopefully when the Zola World Guide comes it explains the first contact and subsequent integration to the UNG/NUNG.
-
Umm.. Its Anima Spiritia. Speaking of Marj (The guy who created Sharon Apple), anybody else thinking he is a defective clone of Max?
-
Your analysis connects to what UN Spacy renegade Colonel Bacelon did in Macross 7 Trash. He used Varauta technology to gather aggresive/competitive type of spiritia from T-Crush players for his Zentradi rebellion. Bacelon felt that Zentradi became soft and some of them have problems dealing with emotions. Basically a weaponized version of Chiba's method that makes a warrior stronger. But it does have addictive side effects. Also with Colonel Barton who surretitiously drains an amount of spiritia from Mylene during live performances to make his Evil Series grow.
-
This would explain why Col. Garland wanted a united front/command in case another invasion occurs. Also again ordering Macross 7 fleet to take on an entire female Zentradi armada. Any sane commander would order them to get the hell out of Dodge but the bigwig UN military official ordered them to attack the Meltrandi fleet. If we are to collate the collective blunders of the military it would include also the classified operation on the 4th Varauta resulting into the Protodevlin's release and the actions of two Colonels in Macross 7 side story mangas. (Trash, Mylene Beat) The military became too much of an independent entity and had to be put back on a leash of civilian oversight.

Lol Anti-UN enemy craft?

I just marathoned episodes 1 to 4. Stig or Stick or whatever to me is a bit self-righteous about we're here to save the Earth thing. Since he is a second generation Martian he knows squat about Earth and is bit judgemental of the locals. Not exactly revenge driven as you'd think more on mourning his fiancee's demise. But is driven instead by the mission. Ray - Ryuusei if he was junker. Has more practical skills than the rest. Like finding and cooking food. Mint - Why are they bringing along a loli? An annoying loli at that. Guess with human civilization at post apocalyptic state finding a man for a girl who could provide is logical. And this is the future not the 19th century. I don't think she knows the stuff marriage entails. Jim - He is not a fighter but an engineer who managed to survive the first invasion attempt. He lept the Legioss maintained all those years. Though I thought from the first episode the Legioss was a recent innovation since it was said they had better weapons than the first invasion force. Houquet - The chick who is like a passing through hero. Why and where did she get that Mospeada? Yellow - The transvestite hiding his identity till Stick and his band came along. They used two different seiyuu for the male and female voices so as to not tip the viewer. These days seiyuus like Romi Paku and Rie Kugimiya can pull off the switch. The Invid to me are giant mechanical crabs with green blood. They aren't biological just cybernetic. The ability to detect soldier's active fuel cells does explain why they are able to find and kill soldiers. So far they faceless without a leading officer or intelligence.

Remember these City ships were designed to be as much Earth-like as possible. Frontier takes that concept to the extreme.
-
Macross 1 appears to be composed of several "ships" of the same type. At least four. This fleet that appears in VF-X2 which may or may not be Macross 7. It has one extra Sunny Flower. Its fleet has a Hollywood, Einstein, Rivierra, Beginhill, Three Star, and the two said Sunny Flower and one New Macross Class. Macross 5 well there is the more than one ship of the same type.

The Protoculture came to an end because of a Lensman arms race of which became their undoing. As for the Protoculture's culture we know very little except they don't want to fight by themselves, they admire and fear the Vajra same thing goes for Space Whales, and they like love songs.

Doesn't look like a hero mecha does it? Which reminds me Macross was supposed to be a parody of Gundam till they refined the concept. So a parody of Macross and Gundam?
