If this was BSG with the reverence of the Colonials to the lords of Kobol yeah. Macross has portrayed the Protoculture as humans. Humans who often made mistakes. As Max said "Are these really humanity's ancestors, so foolish." Heck if Earther's became a interstellar threat the Birdman had orders to destroy us. Macross Frontier isn't about the Protoculture. Remember what Richard called everybody... The children of the Protoculture. That includes humans, Zentradi, Zolans and whatever seeded races are out there. Technically speaking the Suprvision Army too are children of the Protoculture too. Now Grace and Galaxy Anonymous mentioned they will achieve something the dream the Protoculture could not do. What do we know of the Protoculture according to the writings on Lux? They were the first civilization to create culture. They didn't say they were the only intelligent species or the oldest. The oldest living creature in the galaxy is the White Space Whale. Like the Space Whale the Vajra can naturally fold. Protoculture do that with technology. In fact exploiting a natural occuring lifeform has been touched on Macross Dynamite 7. Space Whales make great fold engine components that is why they are sought after by criminal elements. We know that the Protoculture settled on two areas of their planet. Becoming their ethnic groups. Eventually venturing out into space then being split into two factions warring on each other spreading their conflict. Creating the Zentradi then it escalates leading to the Protodevlin and the SA. Since there is a Macross Zero connection and the children of the protoculture expanding to unknown teritories like the Vajra's. I think it comes back to the Birdman and Mayan warning that the Kadun should not spread. Kadun could mean the tendency of humanity for violence. What are Grace and company are doing? They want to spread the hate. From the Mayan legend is that the Birdman severed his head as he did not want to exterminate humanity. Now the Birdman itself is an AI. Some what benevolent from the Mayan description. Grace and company are not benevolent AI with their manipulations. We didn't know why the Protoculture had their civil war to begin with. I bet it had something to do with seeding worlds species that will evolve like them. When you think about it they did not have contact with any species that are like them. It is also interesting to note that the Vajra was discovered the same year the Sharon Apple incident happened. So is it a toaster plan to see if the experiments deserve to exist? Maybe Since there is an increasing interaction between the Protoculture's children.

How many Zentrans are there in one Adoclass fleet? Or a Moruk fleet like Lap Lapiz? I've been trying to figure out how many people are there in Chlore's fleet.

Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi

Now lets compare luxury liners with Megaroads and NMC. Since both have biospheres. Space Park Diameter: 381 m Length: 1219.2 m Cloud 9 Luxery liner Length 251.46 m A Megaroad has a length of 5200 meters and a NMC city 5000 m. The NMC city being bigger has a 50 square km area. In conclusion Macross is Macro when it comes to biospheres. -

WareraRoriKonda Wait Hikaru isn't the stubborn type... well to Misa maybe. Makes me wonder if it was Alto is Hikaru's place. As Mylene said Hikaru is the sensitive type unlike some. (Basara)

Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi

Now looking at that cool chart March just made me think about the defense systems of a battlestar, Macross and a NMC. A battlestar has railgun battery point defenses also its armor is so thick that a nukes would not destroy it easily. The modern basestars are missile reliant, raider reliant and fragile. That's why Cylons relied on the the backdoors of the CNP made by Baltar. The Macross does have battery defenses and part of those battery defenses are the destroids. I assume the Macross uses energy conversion armor like a Valkyrie. The Macross has a pinpoint barrier and full barrier. Which is necessary as the Zentraedi was using beam weapons. For the Nmc's ... Battle 7 and Battle 5 from what we've seen don't have that much guns. They do have missiles and reaction warheads. But they do have more pinpoint barriers than the original Macross. Sort of a one trick pony with the big Frakking gun. Which has a better firing arc than the original Macross. NMCs like Battle 13 and Battle Frontier have more batteries. Battle 13 to be appears more heavily armored. Battle Frontier having more gun batteries than any NMC we've seen. But again a one trick pony with the big Frakking gun, especially with Battle Frontier taking the beam projector out of the gunship casing. Battle Frontier from what I've heard has 30 ppb. Not to mention the repulsion field which I guess is a safer version of omni-barrier of the Macross. If I was a Colonial and thought these UN Spacy people has all these cool stuff but I'd be calling them stupid for having exposed bridges. Colonial military mentality is that the CIC is at the most protected area within the ship. They have these command towers just waiting to be shot. -

Though we have seen the Whale liner in Macross Plus fold within Eden's gravity. Also M7 fleet managed to fold out of Lux despite Exsedol's warning. Though from what I understand the fleet has to be in formation for it to work.. -
Funny you mentioned the original fold accident. I think after all these years somebody figured out the disappearing fold engine mystery. Applied those physics to the DE. One thing we don't know is that what Mao was a doctor of. Remember Mao Nome was fascinated by machinery. I'm leaning more she became a physicist or an engineer than a biologist. Also remember the cover for the loss of the Global. A fold accident. But given Grace is such a b*tch I wouldn't make it pass her that she sabotage the Global. The Global was in attack mode.
-
Question: Is Moaramia older than Komalia? I mean from what I know she was already in the Dancing Skulls in 2022. Komalia would be only 11 then. Does that mean Moaramia is clone? A non-matured Mentran?

I just made a freaking realization! In Macross Plus terms Alto is Myung, Sheryl is Isamu and Ranka is Guld when they were in high school. You guys have been compairing to the original triangler scene but does resemble also Guld's flashback in a way. -
Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi

I do agree that Macross fold tech more powerful than Galactica FTL. A great comparison are the daring planetary surface jumps of the Macross and Galactica. Bruno Global tried to feint the Zentradi by returning to South Ataria and folding at lunar orbit. But as with the gravity generators the personnel has little understanding of the fold system. Instead of appearing on lunar orbit the Macross folded to Pluto's orbit ,taking the whole South Ataria island with them. During the battle of New Caprica the Galactica jumped within New Caprica's atmosphere and as it freefall lauched its vipers. Then it jumped before it could crash. Appearing on New Caprica's orbit. Adama's flawless rescue operatiuon compared to Global's tech trouble. Global's fold engine disappeared on him. Even Vrlithwai and Exsedol thought it was a boneheaded manuever. -
Lolers Thanks for the translation.

Technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi
RedWolf replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
Nice one March. It is interesting to note that most UN Spacy ships are smaller than a battlestar but a first generation Macross or a New Macross Class battle section to it are somewhat comparable. But they are definitely by Zentradi designed warships. Also colonial and cylon FTL is somewhat comparable to Fold engines. But it is my opinion that Fold engines have longer ranges. They also require greater energy resource thus overtechnology reactors. FTL drive requires a fuel source refined tylium to power it. -

Mine is bigger than yours argument. Well an NMC both battle section and city beats them all but lets see their sizes. The Galactica beats the Macross in terms of length and width but the Macross is taller. Galactica's flight pods are longer than either the Prometheus or an ARMD. An NMC battle section is longer than the Galactica. But the Pegasus is even longer than a NMC Battle section. But one thing for sure they can't build a town in either Galactica or Pegasus. SDF-1 Macross SDF-1 Macross: 1210 x 496 x 312 (length x width x height), 1200 x 600 (approximate, after 2012 overhaul) Prometheus Dimensions, metres: 512 Daedalus Dimensions, metres: 488 ARMD Dimensions, Metres: 430 x 220 (approximate, length x width) New Macross Class Dimensions, metres: * approx 7770 (Macross 7) o 1510 (Battle 7, carrier mode) o 1177 (Battle 7, attack formation mode) o approx 800 (power plant) o approx 5000 (City 7) Battlestar Pegasus (Mercury Class) Length 6070 feet (1850m) Width 2444 feet (744.9m) Height 1099 feet (334.9m) Battlestar Galactica Length 4640 feet (1414m) Width 1821 feet (555m)[6] Height 581 feet (177m) Weight {{{weight}}} Wingspan {{{wingspan}}} Other Flight Pod Length: 2018 feet (615m)[7] Width: 361 feet (110m) Height: 210 feet (64m) -
This thread is about technological comparison between Macross and other Sci-fi. First off Macross x NBSG Vipers vs Valkyries Vipers are smaller than Valkyries. Now the big difference that I've observed vipers can do a 180 turn in .38 seconds. Valkyries don't do that in fighter mode as they are modeled after real fighter craft performance. But the advantage of a Valkyrie is in its three modes. Fighter, Gerwalk and Battroid. In terms of missile load out a Valkyrie is greater. (Itano Circus effect) Plus Valkyrie's have special additional equipment such as fast packs, super packs, armor or armor packs and fold boosters. Vipers don't have FTL or special FTL equipment. Only raptors can jump. In terms of speed that I'm not sure about the two which is faster. Vipers like most colonial ship tech require, refined tylium, which has a higher energy output than uranium but does not emit radiation though it is combustible. Valkyries uses thermonuclear engines.

You know I woudn't want to be in Alto place. If it weren't for the coup or the Vajra the press will eat him alive if they find out. The people of Frontier will label him double timing predator. Preying on the hearts of two innocent girls. -
Duuno but Hikaru was about to eat dumplings when a sortie was sounded. He, Max, Kakizaki and every pilot eating in Nyan Nyan somehow fit into one taxi.

You people ever tried listening to two Macross songs at the same time. Relevant to the topic. Currently I'm experimenting with Fire Bomber vs Sharon Apple.

Battle-1 or should I say the Battle-1 fleet was prety much like Battle-7. Macross 1 fleet was composed of 1st generation NMC city blocks. Four of them. escorted by a Bolognese fleet Macross 5 had 3 NMCs but they were designed to look more Zentradi in look. They escorted by Zentradi variant Bolognese fleet and a single 4km Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs bis, which I believe was the main military flagship. I wonder how the naming scheme goes in Multiple NMC within a Macross fleet. Macross 7 had a single NMC, attached to it was the vegetation island and Akusho. Other residential ships were Einstein Research Experimental Ship, Hollywood Amusement Ship, Three Star Factory Ship, Sunnyflower Agricultural Ship, Riviera Resort Ship, West Point Class Macro-Training Base Ship, Mark Twain VII Resort Ship. In Macross 7 Trash there's Heaven, a cemetery ship. In 2047 the concert ship Budokan was added to the fleet. M7 fleet was escorted by Urugas, Bolognese, Guantanamos. Though we don't know about the replacement of the Battle 7 that was still being built in Dynamite 7. Macross 13 we only saw Battle 13.
