First...some pictures of the speed breaks. I took these things down...built up an interior and made a hing assembly (pinned togeter for pictures because I didn't want to hinge it till I painted it) for the speed breaks. I have both of these done. I also did some detail work on the interior of the break and have an actuator arm (not listed) for the break. The arm will be a removable piece, as I don't have a good way to build a tiny flexible arm...ideas? )

So...I'm in way over my head on this...but I am not going to give up!!!! I started working on the ideas for this and scribling notes about a year ago...I started working in ernest about a month ago. So far, most of my time is spent doing research and development....trying to figure out how to make a custom...with detail closer to a model, but still a toy that can be transformed and touched. I think it will end up as somewhere in the middle of both...transformable, but not as sturdy as a toy, and with removable parts. I decided to post what I had in hopes to get good ideas. Valkyrie was kind enough to pass on some ideas for the landing gear doors...which have been a total pain...the diecast legs are not a friendly medium! First...my goals: 1 - Custom detailed cockpit 2 - detailed landing gear, bays, and doors 3 - movable control surfaces 4 - airbrakes 5 - scaled rear stabilizers (larger) 6 - detailed accessories (solid fuel boosters, enlarged fast packs, detailed leg armor, detailed gun and shield) So...not too ambitious....'cept I am new at this...so a lot of this has been a learning process. I find the second time I do something I am getting it much better...so I think 1.5 VF11's may go into making this project a reality. Here are the pictures..I rushed them...sorry...but hopefully you can get the idea.

Getting what we want... a GOOD quality resin kit
Myersjessee replied to Less than Super Ostrich's topic in Model kits
Thats so cool that they responded....hopefully they don't get whormoney going after them about another license thing... As for the order...they are probably easier to deal with then Tanmen (they are in the US, no?) Considering local, and no language barrier it may be easier for them to deal with us one at a time, but if we think it would be beneficial to do a mass order I am happy to help. Another thought...whats the 1 thing we want to request them to do....it seems that they are willing to take ideas...we might carry more weight if we could say something like "we all talked and voted and we would like XYZ. " If we could tell them how many orders they could expect that would probably help even more. Finally, when thinking about this, we should try for something that we think would be popular. If they dont get any sales from our idea and lose money, they are less likely to do more Macross stuff. So, to recap...drop in your ideas...they should be: 1 Popular 2 Realistic (no 1/48 Monsters please! ) 3 Cost effective (see 2) My first ideas (in order) 1 1/72 Valkyrie Booster (fits Hasegawa kits...) 2 1/48 Fan Racer 3 1/60 Glaug thoughts? -

I want to echo Green Guys comments....and Im not a college student....but I have seen prices go from $50-$60 to $80-$90, to $120...and now items like the QRau and Monster top the $150-$300 range...I am not a big fan of bigger is better...its not the size of your toy, but the detail and quality of it (and how you use it! ) Anyways...I'm patiently awaiting the final product...if it is nice the price reduction will be appreciated.

Okay...sounds like everyone thinks we should give him time for the Dragons, but request a completion time. As for the rest of the stuff, we will ask for our money back. Right? Can anyone right a nice note in Japanese for me? (I hate to keep bugging Monkey Nugget...but I am sure he will if we no one else can )

Great picture Graham! Since there was no 1-1 option, I choose 1/60. I like this as a "Masterpiece scale" as it will match the scale of a large chunk of my Yammies...and end up being close to the size of a 1/48. 1/72 would also be a nice option.

looks to curvy...not that Im complaining...

Dont know if this has been posted (sorry...searched and could not find it) I found some articles and posts on SciFi.com that indicate they will decide on a series this week. The BBoard says it seems positive....might be time to send them an email if you want a new sci-fi series ..here is an article I found. article

I could not agree more! -
LOL...I love your logic Carl...thats an engineers eye...and I could not agree more....the fact that something can't be said would seem to imply there could be something....lets hope sales warrent it!

First..thanks again to Rob for the quick translation and all the help. 2nd....what to do... Well...sounds like he has conceded to return all the money except what was put into the Dragon models, which sound like they will be done soon. I'm tempted to say I'm okay with that. It also sounds like if he fails to get the Dragons done in a timely fashion he will reimburse us for those. I can: 1) Insist on all the money now after WF. (inclusive of the Dragon kit money) I don't know if this will happen as he is not offering it as an option but I can try it. 2) Accept the money for all the kits but the Dragon and give him a time frame to please hit when sending it. Additionally, give him a time frame we would expect the Dragon in ( "If you can have the Dragon kits done by X we would be happy to wait for them, if not we would appreciate a refund... " ) Considering it sounds like he thinks this will be soon for the Dragon, we might be best to see if we can get this final kits and give him another month or two. I'm concerned because this story is different from the story he told me last email (6 months ago) and from all the phone conversations Rob has set up with him....but, hopefully this time he will come through as promised and this debacle may wrap up... I'm also concerned about the commments about Iraq..it almost sounds like he is threatening if Bush doesn't leav Iraq all bets are off? Could that be? Well...please give me some feedback before I respond to Tanmen. Jesse

Thanks Rob...well..All...here is the translation. I am seriously sorry that I have not been able to contact you. I had 2 computers which were attacked by a virus. Both of them are down. I repaired them but I was attacked by a virus again. I have bought another computer, a total of 3 now. But it also obtained a virus. Iit seems that the virus or program destroys the registry file of Windows). I have just fixed the 3rd computer today. I have been very busy working on a project for Konami and Model Graphics Magazine (2004 Feb No.231). The prototype of the KONAMI product "1 / 144 Ground Self Defense Force series". (See attached file, 144jgsdf.jpg). Because of this I have been unable to work on other projects. Also related to the "Self-Defense Forces" -- Since a schedule does not become settled from the time of "the Iraq dispatch" it was determined not to make other items and to work on the project and not only "MACROSS" And I cannot work on the project until the Self-Defense Forces dispatched to Iraq continue comes back safely I think that a situation will not change by then. The "1 / 72 Dragon?" is almost complete. I only need to make a few parts and it should be completed in the near future, and I will be able to send them. I am not sure when the other kits will be completed, but I think I can do it. But I have no idea when I can complete them. Because I did not complete (?) the VF-4 1/72, SD VF-1S and SD VF-11B I will send an International Postal Money Order for 52,500 yen after the completeion of Wonder Festival. But if the Dragon II is not finished by then, do you want to wait for me to send the IPMO or send them seperatly? Should, "President Bush" be re-elected and in the future sends the "U.S. Forces" to "Iraq". If it the occupation continues and the US troops stay there, delaying the return of the "Self-Defense Forces" and they do not come back, I do not think I can finsh the Macross items unless the SDF comes back quickly. Curious..in the begining of ep 3 a appearently non-variable jet takes off from the carrier. It was wings that bend up, and down at the tips, with a pretty harsh cant...is this the Otos?
