I'm in the final stretch now! I've got the arms shaded and decaled, and the gunpod ready to be mounted!

Hi all! LTSO : Ummm.. there's less a chance that the interior of the cockpit will get accidentely sprayed on? I guess it's easier since it fits well and covers the whole cockpit! WMCHENG : I think i used too much set again! The decal bent all outta shape and stretched! Kurt : Hi! You mean you cut the halves in half again? Hmmm.. will try that!

... disaster strikes! after removing the wash, i decided to go ahead and do the decals for the canopy! But when i pulled off the tape, the canopy came off too! (must try another canopy glue next time... ) Well, i decided to go ahead and do the canopy decals anyway, but i really screwed up big time.... the decal didn't seem to fit the shape, and i shifted it around too much until it sort of desintegrated! (i guess the decals are REALLY soft!) Any tips anyone for decaling the canopy? Hopefully if i do another VF-1 valk i'll succeed at the canopy the next round!

I haven't done the washes over the decals yet.. and i dunno why the jet turned out greyish in the pic! ( it IS off-white..) well, the effect is cool, so i guess i'll leave it at that!

Weekend update! I was so engrossed doing the decaling for the body that i forgot to take pics between the panel lining up to the decaling step! Anyway, here's a progress shot of where i'm at now.... cheers!

Hi! I did a pre-shading with my airbrush ( roughly 60% off-white + 30% sky grey ), then i did a wash with enamel paint! I "traced" over all the lines, but some you can tone this down if it's not to your liking I like my jets a bit battle worn!

Ok! here's a shot of the 1J body during the panel lining process, you can see that it's awfully messy on the left side, but you won't have to worry as it's easily wiped off with the correct solvent as seen on the right side! Again, the paint finish of the body has to be as smooth as possible. If you find the panel lining too dark, just use a thin brush to dip a bit of thinner into the affected panel line to remove any excess paint!

Thanks guys! Hmmm.. but everytime i press down the decal it kinda slides it outta position, then i gotta apply more microSET to get it moving again! I'll try your tips master cheng! Thanks Hagan! I'm still miles away from being anywhere close to WMcheng's standard! But hopefully i'll improve as i go along!
