The next easiest part to fit together would be the feet/thrusters and gunpod.... i drilled out the gunpod muzzle with a drillbit.. looks more realistic!

Hi All! Here are some progress pics of my VF-19A, i didn't take as many pictures compared to my VF-1J, but it's cool to see it from the initial stage to the final product! The completed model can be seen at the Model Kits section here! : http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=4382 Here's the top half of the fuselage, i fitted on the top fins and puttied off the gap in between, spent a lot of time trying to make sure the fins were at the same level!

Thanks all for your kind comments! So sorry i haven't posted the build up pics yet, they'll be up within the next 2 days hopefully! Thanks again!

Try not to use superglue to join the pieces, as it tends to crystalize and shatter over a long period of time.... i had a superglued model i haven't touched for over 5 years and when i took it out again, the pieces just came apart! Use polystyrene glue for polystyrene kits, the bond is much better as it melts the plastic slightly. For the canopy, you can get Microscale's canopy glue or even normal PVA (white) glue... it's almost the same thing, dries clear and doesn't fog up the clear plastic.

Thanks! Nope! This color is unique to the "Ravens" special operations group, and only in the PS game/s Macross - Digital Mission VFX. Thanks all! Sorry for the slow update! My PC died on me, didn't lose much thankfully! Here's a comparison of size between the VF-19A and VF-1J! The 19A is huge!

Thanks all! 007-vf1 -> Thanks! You should see the very first models i built wayyyy back! Really bad! But an airbrush really makes a difference, practice too! Angel's Fury -> Master Cheng's YF-19 is what got me started on the Hasegawa kits! Never built them before until recently, all i made before were Gundam kits... hellohikaru -> Someone asked earlier on in the thread too, does the 91 have any specific meaning? I'm curious myself! Qs1. i think both kits are identical, except that the VF-19A kit wasn't meant to have a pilot seated, cos the instructions do not show how to paint it + they don't give decals for the pilot! Plus the fact that the Ravens pilots flightsuits and helmets are radically different. I decided to use the VFX1 flightsuit from a uniform scan i found! Qs2. The VF-19A is way bigger than the VF-1J! Very "Long Necked" and broad! The pix i took don't really show this, but i'll try to take a size comparison later! Cheers all!

Neova -> I sorta have the progress pictures, but not as detailed as my first buildup! I'll probably post it up on the "How to build model kits section"? I link it up! Here are more pix! First up, a shot from the left....

ALL - > Thanks guys! I'll try to take more pix when i get back today, anyone got tips on camera settings when taking pix? A lot of mine came out blurry.... Chronocidal -> Yup! I'm hoping that Yamato makes a YF-19 toy too! A 1/48 one would be HUGE! Dat Pinche Haro! -> Hehe, it's meant to be 91, the decals came that way, although seperate numbers were also given. It's probably just his unit number! The decal sheet also had decals for the 1st VFX game, and had markings for the Valhalla III. Really hope to see all your work soon!

A shot from below! Haven't attached the rifle yet! This kit is much easier to build, much more compared to my VF-1J... A good kit to start with definately!

Hi all again! Man, it's been quite a while since i've posted here! I've been working on the VF-19A off and on during this time, and it's finally completed! I wanted to do the YF-19, but since Master Cheng has already built a most excellent one, i've decided to go with the 19A from VFX-2... Well, here it is! UPDATE : The build-up process can be seen here : http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=5113

Hey, for a moment in the Asuka battle scene, i thought i was watching the intro cg for a new "armored core" game! But very satisfying battles! Again, too little armored valk.. Loved the way the seemingly HEAT round penetrated the armor!!!!! "..Reactive Armor!?!?!" Man, was he shocked!!! SPOLIERS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What's this about Mao having the same blood as the alien thingy? And PROTOCULTURE was mentioned...

Nice work! Practice makes perfect! Makes me want to dig out my VF-2SS to build too! Keep it up!

Beautiful! Let's see more!

Hi hellohikaru! They're probably from the Hasegawa weapons set! Here's a pic : (credit to HLJ for image)

Hi dyowelb! Using oil paint/varsol shouldn't be a problem, as long as the solvents are 'unlike'. But as different paint brands vary, it's still better to test it out on an unused piece of plastic before proceeding!

Hmmmm.... thinking of what to build next, i don't think i want to start on a VF strike or super yet, maybe i'll build my YF-19A!

Sebastian, Toonz, GabeQ, Jawjaw, gnollman, Macross_Fanboy, AKD001 -> Thanks! I really appreciate all your comments! Really spurs me on to want to build more! AKD001 -> Here is the sequence of my painting i took from my other thread : The layers go like this : base coat -> white paint -> clear coat -> washes -> clear coat -> decal -> clear coat -> washes -> clear coat! Yes, if too much paint is sprayed on, the panel lines tend to get submerged! Esp. for these hasegawa kits and their superfine lines.. I just used the Hasegawa Tritools saw scriber to scribe out lines which became too recessed! After spraying white over the model, i would usually use a fine nozzle/needle airbrush to trace over the panel lines on the model. i mixed a bit of off-white and sky grey to get a slightly darker shade. You can trace as much/little over the panel lines depending on how weathered you want your plane to look! Once the pre-shading is done, i start on the washes. I use black enamel paints to do the panel lining, dilute till you're satisfied with the dilution ( i usually look at whether there are a lot of paint particles ie. clearer = lighter lines, thicker = dark lines.) Again, all this is personal preference. Dab the diluted paint into the panel line and capillary action takes over, don't worry about it getting messy as you can wipe off the excess with ENAMEL thinner. ( Remember! Enamel thinner k? I use Tamiya X-20A)

Sure! I look forward to seeing them, thanks!

Hi recon! I know what you mean! i start about 9 in the morning and reach home about 7 in the evening only! I mostly do it on a weekend, and only certain days on weekdays! Too tiring to do full time! Yup! After the whole thing i sprayed another clear coat on top to seal in everything! The layers go like this : base coat -> white paint -> clear coat -> washes -> clear coat -> decal -> clear coat -> washes -> clear coat! very tedious you can imagine!
