  1. The last couple of times I've visited both Frys and Best Buy I've ended up answering product questions from other customers, since there were essentially no service people present... Though there were a bunch of deaf-mute robots in white and blue shirts alternately wandering around glassy-eyed and/or pretending to inventory and restock the shelves. The real question here is this one, of course: how the heck do folks in retail stores always seem to know to seek me out for product advice in the first place?
  2. Quite the contrary - As a seller, you should be happy that this guy is bidding on your auctions. All he is doing is elevating bid levels incrementally, user by user. The dedicated buyer will always place a larger bid and win through in the end, albeit at a higher price... As a typical buyer, it's damned annoying to have to endure this sort of behaviour . I have reason to believe that 'lohlohsohsoh' may have just generated another account : 'psychoskullleader'...
  3. Okay, I have to vent (this post is not regarding any particular auction, but rather an individual Ebay member)... Check out this c*cks*cker's bidding habits. He (or she) systematically "tests" high bids - I've seen this user bidding on many auctions, winning none. I'd imagine, were it an isolated case, that perhaps shill bidding is the object. However, this user is bidding on many different seller's items. lohlohsohsoh F*cker. It wouldn't annoy me so much, but I was carrying the high bid for the last couple of days, and this "person" placed 21 bids to test my resistance (I'm 'jeremymtc' on Ebay) . I'm all for a good simple snipe, but stuff like this is ridiculous.
  4. Another -10 (you're supposed to be running down your supporters, not harmless little birds!) Vote for Frankenstein!
  5. I personally like the 1/60, actually much moreso than the 1/48. However, I don't really think it's completely fair to say that the 1/60 is "more accurate to the line art". There are plenty of novel features on the 1/48 line like the telescoping thruster nozzles and built-in heatshields which place it much closer to the line art in these respects. Proportionaly, I feel that the 1/60 suffers from excessive length in the legs and feet, and in a couple of other crude details, though I do agree about the canopy. That said, to each his own. There are reasons to appreciate both
  6. One more for the list... "Dagget"
  7. I'm not completely sold on it yet, waiting for more info and reviews before I plunk down. I've never been as much a fan of the run 'n gun games as I have the more strategy oriented shooters. Still, early reports state that it will have a little more depth than its predecessors...
  8. Thanks for posting the pics (and the movie) guys. It *appears* from the pics that the knee-cap parts are not hinged like on the 1/35 Gakken, rather they look like they just have enough flare to slide past the mid-section of the leg... Something which I've been wondering about.
  9. I agree with Crisp here. I manufacture aluminum dies for injection molded plastics myself, this is where the major production expenses come in to play. It is actually cheaper and easier to tool solid parts using 2 part molds than it is for hollow parts using up to 5 part molds... Though costs have come down quite a bit in the last few years due to the CNC revolution.
  10. Are you playing the orginal IL-2, or FB/Aces? The MX is well known to be a rather "sucky" video solution. Both play very well on my current box, and even played well with my old FX5200. However, I don't know of anyone who can play with 16+ B17s without a little bit of lagginess. I didn't look up the specs on your mobo, but if you have an AGP port you should have no problem running any AGP card, provided that your PCI slots aren't loaded up and crowding it physically - unless your board/case are one of those ridiculous sub-micro jobs. My specs: P4 2.66 (Non-HT) / 533fsb 1 Gig PC2700 Radeon 9800 Pro 128 SBPCI 128 4.1 19" Flat Screen CRT
  11. OmniBot would take them both, unless you're talking about the RC Voltron
  12. Not Canada bashing, but nearly every package I send there is 'held up' in customs or in delivery, anywhere from 2-6 weeks(!). Nowadays, I just let my customers know in advance that Canadian in-transit times are not guaranteed. Let's not start on import duties...
  13. Huh? Ditto. VHS? What's that? My collection is all on Super-8.
  14. Actually, it kind of reminds me of the Gunstar from Last Starfighter...
  15. Thanks Pat. I didn't/don't remember that character from the show, and thought that it may have indicated a tie-in for the new show.
  16. I haven't seen these posted yet in this thread...
  17. Hmm... I've run across this preorder item in a few different places - the "Sue Graham" Shadow Fighter. Anyone know what this is? http://bigbadtoystore.com/toy.asp?Queryid=pre534
  18. Thank you, very nice work. Mucho appreciado
  19. Reference for the folks who wonder about the small size... There were two different "classic" Gakken 1/55 Alpha models (not to be confused with the horrid little 1/72s). One was a triple-change [almost] all-plastic toy, and the other was a two-mode (armo-soldier/armo-diver) toy with a fair amount of diecast. Each were available in blue/red/green. Both of the above were about 6.5"-7" tall in armo-soldier mode. If you had one of these, or have seen them in the past, this is about the size you should expect. Yes, they were quite a bit smaller than a 1/55 VF-1, but this is by design and is appropriate to the scale. I'd personally like for the price to be a little lower, for purely selfish reasons, but given that the original 1/55 triple-change Gakkens in good condition go for nearly the same price these days, it's not too terribly out of range considering that these new MPCs seem to have a fine level of finish/detail compared to the old ones. I'll definitely be picking some up to replace my long lost 1/55 Gakken Alphas - I remember buying all of mine for about $9.00 a pop back in the day . Wish I still had them, but at least I still have my old, headless, red 1/35 somewhere...
  20. I remember back in '85 my friend telling me all about this Japanese version of Macross he had seen that was so badass... I can recall listening in disbelief as he told me about the nude Minmay scene, the different storyline, the VFs that all looked more like JetFire than the TV series valks, and that they took off upside down! I was highly skeptical of his claims , and never did see the movie 'til nearly 20 years later. Now, I've got the FX HK version and watch it regularly.
  21. Yep, that's the link I was referring to. Veeery interesting stuff, in a completely morbid way . Thanks again for the info and helping to get me up to speed. 'Twill be interesting to see what develops from here... Any other comments or questions I'll post in the proper thread.
  22. Ewilen, thanks for the clarification re the distinctions between trademark and copyright. I think I have a better handle on it now, but your reinforcement of my conspiracy theory paints a grim picture, if it's in any way close to truth. The reason I had mentioned copyright though, is that I had read a post in the legal thread which linked to the Toynami SP page, displaying HGs claimed copyright AND trademark for the products in question. I had mentioned the earlier, non-controversial, distribution agreement in my post more as a navigation point for my own muddled thoughts to rally 'round, and possibly for the benefit of anyone else not entirely entrenched in the 'legal debate' thing
