1. It's also pretty banged up. I thought the rough design was similar, though I admit it's a stretch. But DYRL isn't real. 326417 It is roughly similar, but I think it is of a different design. I believe that the Supervision Army had an ability to alter and repair ships that the Zentlaedi lacked, so it's possible to see multiple derivative craft. For all we know, ASS-1 was an obsolete hulk prior to its arrival on Earth.
2. I'd tend to agree with Jenius, having owned both the Gakkens and Toynamis. A suitable analogy is that the 1/35 Gakken is to the MPC Alpha as the 1/55 Chunky Monkey is to the Yamato 1/60. While fairly durable and 'playable', the Gakkens fall down to the MPCs in terms of detail and posability... And face it, if we want Legioss/Alphas, there's not much other choice available, so we have to enjoy what we've got. ...Unless, your MPC is a lemon, in which case, get rid of it or have it replaced. I've been lucky in that none of my MPC Alphas have been true lemons, I'm sure I'd righteously feel differently if that were not the case.
3. From the wanted thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=15996 Trying to obtain quantity figures. Please post if interested. Thank you.
4. That's the most likely prospect in my view, with knowledge of how the aerospace or plastics industry usually works. We'd end up with a chunky, lithe, and flashy little number I think. Think MPC
5. Socrates: "True wisdom is knowing that you know nothing." Bill & Ted: "Dude! That's US!" [Air Guitar] Ted: "Dude, do you remember when your mom was a senior, and we were freshman?" Bill: "Shut up, Ted." Ted: "Dude, do you remember when I asked your mom out to the prom?" Bill: "SHUT UP, Ted!" I'll have to look out for the DVD set
6. Good stuff, everyone. All of my attempts to start cell collecting have been met with Ebay outbid notices. At least I have one in my sig baronv, I noticed that the first cell in your first post is one that's [benignly] bugged me forever - Hikaru's seat gets raised from behind the tailfins/backpack of the 1D. Neat score Please post more, folks.
7. Damn, she lost her 1J? Might actually have to try out 7 after all. Which episode? Maybe not though. Dunno if it's worth it...
8. Macross Vending Machine on MW It's not just a message board
9. I'm one of the 1/60 die hards (I have all of them), but if I were you, I'd follow the previous advice and go ahead and pick up the 1/48s you want first, simply because they are not likely to get any cheaper. Then you can spend some time and less cash to pick up your remaining 1/60s at your leisure. As far as paint chipping and other 1/60 issues go, here is my solution: Buy doubles and even triples of the ones you want - they are cheap enough . Then you can have some for display, some to keep MISB, and some 'beaters' to actually screw around with. Ironically, my 1/60 beaters (chipped paint, broken/reglued BP8s, etc) are actually my favorites, probably because I don't really have to worry about any of them. Have fun!
10. Anubis, Send me a pm with your address - I've got a really nice vinyl 4" UN Spacy emblem you can have that Chowser kindly gave me with a purchase a while back. Hate to see it in my parts drawer going to waste...
11. LMFAO Great accuracy is required. Tell me about your mother OK, a real Macross myth for legitimazation: Myth Zentrans feasted on man-sized turkey legs, and smoked man-size cigarettes in the later episodes. The waste disposal was a nightmare. FactMicronization. Re-Zentraedification. Discuss.
12. Though to be fair, remember that Max caught him enroute to the privy Might count for something.
13. You know, it's weird. I pretty much grew up believing that I had seen that non-existant footage somewhere, and I was gobsmacked when I saw the series after a very long time and there was nothing. 318625 You know, that's funny. I felt exactly the same when I reviewed the series too - I could have sworn that the seat was shown. At least I remembered it that way. I think that the creators' inference was so, and that they expressed it well. <sigmund> We had prior indication of Roy being in trouble was when he was actually struck during battle. So when the technician scene plays out, some of us may have had a predisposition to "see the blood". Also, the powers of hindsight and knowledge of the collapse/death scene later are probably contributors. </sigmund>
14. Too true. The compression just killed it, and the shots are still 250K Anyway, if you have FB2012 you can see for yourself.
15. Anyone know what the text reads in this one? Can't quite make it out. fb2.bmp
16. "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." Noticed this caption while watching FB 2012. It appears directly under the red Macross text. fb1.bmp
17. Yamato 1/60 VF1S for the low low price of $140. Pirated pics too. http://cgi.ebay.com/JP-YAMATO-MACROSS-ROBO...1QQcmdZViewItem Only an hour left, get your bids in
18. Nice pics guys, thanks. Just got mine today but haven't had time to screw with it yet . #1457 looks like a good one so far. Will post some pics later.

Macross Arcade

Yep, .36 was what, latter part of '01? Think I started in the .33 betas somewhere, however, haven't updated since .78 or so. Still happily running EL and my out of date .exe's anyway

That takes me back...
21. What is this, Bizarro world? LMFAO
22. Speaking of irony, I've heard that much of the titanium used in the construction of the SR-71s had to be purchased direct from the USSR, as the US' supply was so limited.
23. Haven't seen the flick yet, but based on everything I've read, I'll wait the coupla weeks for the DVD rental The crabs you mention were probably an in-reference to the beautiful scintillating jeweled crabs found on Vogsphere, which the Vogons liked to smash because, well, they were Vogons. You had to be there.
24. Yep, but we should all be well used to that treatment by now PANIC!
25. I'll still see it, and try to keep an open mind, but the review Graham's posted is pretty grim. Sounds as if the writers and producers didn't really understand what it's all about. One of my favorite exchanges, which seems not to have made the cut: Arthur: "You mean, you can see into my brain?!" Marvin: "Yes." Arthur: "...And?!" Marvin: "It amazes me how you manage to live in anything so small." Arthur: "Ah, abuse." Marvin: "Yes."
