  1. I've noticed over the past week that the boards have become very slow in loading new pages and/or logging in. Is this due to anything specifically observable? Is this a high-traffic situation?
  2. You and me both. I will prolly do as dnd-ist mentions, and hang onto some of my 2-seaters, pending the acid test. This is the single biggest quandary, I think, with the new line.
  3. It's a hobby. Whatttya gonna do?
  4. To add to what eugimon says here, I don't see any reason as to why anybody should be upset at all... We are talking about toys here, which should be viewed as FUN. Why get upset in the name of fun? That would be counterproductive. I've got all of the OG 1/60s including some doubles. I am an outright VF-1 whore. This news regarding updated 1/60 toys does not anger me in any way; rather, the question at hand is how I shall rid myself of my OLD ones?
  5. I respectfully disagree that the first version 1/60s were an "abomination". They were still a damn sight finer in sculpt than anything previously produced, at least in toy form. Sure, the 1/48 toys made it apparent that they could have had better details, but I'd still sell them far short of abomination status. I will say though, that with an updated and improved 1/60 coming around, I won't have a lot of use for my 1/48s and old 1/60 VF-1's. The new toy in 1/60 will fit my bill with much more conservation of space Merry Christmas all!
  6. Highly recommended reading: Macross Compendium: Chronology
  7. Pardon me if I missed it, but has Graham commented on the heatshield design?
  8. I wouldn't stay either, if I had a mob of MW'ers awaiting expectantly in ambush stance
  9. That is the question of the hour, isn't it? What on earth should I do with my OLD 1/60's?
  10. That might depend upon how the heat shield is handled - no joking. Not that I wouldn't LOVE to see it happen, but I think that's one of the reasons we haven't seen those birds in 1/48, aside from possibly market demand All qualms aside, I hope you're right!
  11. Perhaps, but that may depend on how crazy they go with the variants... I'm thinking 1D, VT-1 and VE-1 will be the clinchers.
  12. Damn skippy. If true, my 1/48s are going bye bye.
  13. You may want to double check the sequence for folding down the tailfins prior to folding up the backpack assembly. If memory serves, you'll need to fold down the left tailfin first, which allows both tailfins to sit "flat" between backpack and backplate, decreasing the backpack's propensity to sit raised above the backplate. Normally, the backpack will sit fairly flush without the use of the hook from the back hatch. It's really needed more for battroid mode, and especially if you are mounting fast-packs. The hook should engage into a little detent on the end of the "beaver tail" portion of the backpack. If your issue is in battroid mode, make sure that the back hatch panel is pushed beyond it's own detents, so that it actually sits recessed from the back panel. Hope that makes sense.
  14. Man, great work, and some nice detail there. Good going! I might suggest some revision to the front quarter of the canopy and nosecone there, something is a bit off, but it's difficult to describe... There is some good VF-4 lineart and physical model material here on the boards, I just can't seem to find any of it right now... Try here: The M3 VF-4 Entry, courtesy of Mr. March
  15. chrono, The exhausts are definitely a little squarish... I'll see if I can up some lineart for you tomorrow. Good to see you getting back on the horse.
  16. Actually, that's a dig at Yamato, but you're right - it might equally well be a reference to WAVE. Actually, I thought that the griping about the Yamato VF-0A CF and Shin releases were pretty daft, but nevermind that :waits for WAVE SDF-1 Recolor preorder:
  17. MT, thanks for the update(s)! Working out mechanical drive systems really is a lot of fun, as you seem to well know. It might seem like work to some, but I know your secret . I've really enjoyed seeing the progression of your project, particularly in all of the little engineering details, trials and tribulations. Keep the updates coming!
  18. Yeah, funny, that. Myself personally, my decade-old HP 820CXi inkjet does everything I ask of it with aplomb. Daqng thing still hasn't kicked the bucket.
  19. Diluted isopropyl acolhol and a cotton rag work well. A weekly treatment with a feather duster will prevent a big buildup from accumulating too. *edit - I should mention that the 1/60 VF-1S was always a bit more gray in color, the 1A Hikaru was always a bit more bright white, and the 1A Max was slightly less bright white to begin with *
  20. They would then nearly double their hypothetical sales by subsequently re-releasing the "anime-accurate" recolors
  21. I'd love to see that too... They could set it up as if Michael had fallen into meth addiction, living in the Two Thousand down by the river. There would be baling wire and primered Bondo repairs, mismatching wheels, and KITT himself could be suicidally depressed ala Marvin from THHGTTG. Now that would be entertaining. More likely though, that Michael would have taken over Devin's place at the foundation, and will be driving a Mercedes SL. Hopefully, an SLK
  22. Actually, the need to deal with foreign [read: Chinese National] manufacturers is really pretty prevalent today in almost any industry, though it is surprising that a company like Aoshima should run afoul of issues like this. You really would think that they would know better.
  23. Now, THAT would be a true return to form I will probably pass on this one for various reasons. Pity that Yamato doesn't do any Space Gandam toys.

    My Double D's

Verrr nice. The 1D is great, but that VR is sublime. Congrats!
  25. Current totals for me: 1/48 = 5 1/60 = 23 1/72 = 1 ...Plus one 1st ed. Garland
