Two words express my reasoning: "Trainwreck Factor"
-
Sounds like a good idea - even if no one here can do it, I'm sure that reprolables.com would be happy to take it on, provided there is sufficient interest. Do let us know how the MH looks in any case.

Alright, Duymon. Any change/improvement to the seam line on the nose? How about the seating of the tail/backpack assembly? It'll probably be a few more days 'til I get mine in. I'll be sure to post up the blow by blow when I open them

Sweet. Thanks for the pic! I'm awaiting mine too. Any discernible difference with regards to the joints/booms from the first release?

Quick question for Jenius (or anyone else who has the Aoshima version): From the review pictures, it looks like the upper legs on the Aoshima release are cast in plastic, whereas the MPCs were diecast. Is this correct, and does this also explain why the upper leg seam appears to be better "smoothed" on the Aoshima? Grats for the review.

I don't want to enter the fray here, but let it be noted that the Mospeada, by design, is not capable of "Perfect Transformation" in toy form, period. No matter who designs or engineers a toy version, parts will have to be removed and replaced. A desire for "Perfect Transformation" is therefore not a valid criteria for evaluating any of these toys. Out.

Congrats on the positive exposure IAD. We told you that SK would like it!

Looks like everybody was right about the Kakizaki DYRL valk - thanks for the pics! I just got my notification from BBTS, and should have my two boxes here fairly soon. I'll post up a report when they get here.

Very cool! IAD's SV-51 in the limelight! Glad to see him and his awesome creation get some recognition. -
From the Compendium... PC 2865 Development on powerful biological weapons based on the RuskiiVFaussie, "Vile Series," begins. [Note: "Vile" pronounced as "Vi-Leh"] Vile is the abbreviation of the Protoculture term for "advanced (Ruskii) all-environ biological weapon." Trial production takes place on a scientifically advanced planet (the first planet of the star system later known as Australia), but because of unresolvable problems with the weapons' power exceeding the parenting capability requirements, trial production is halted. PC 2871 On the [aforementioned] scientifically advanced planet, trial production of the "Custom Billiard Table" for final tests is begun. The Custom Billiard Table tests are begun, but at the same time biological super dimension organs overload and extradimensional energy is released. Approximately one year after the emergence of the Billiard Table, the Proto-Ruskii's power begins to rapidly decline.

It does.

My guess is/was VE-1. They've already tooled the nose/canopy for the DYRL 2-seater (Ostrich), so....

Whether it was their "original" sculpt or not, the fact is that Toynami actually DID produce a Legioss with at least some attempt at accuracy, which is much more than can be said for this latest CMs offering. While it is well-known that many have had their issues with the Toynami Legioss' build quality, my own experience has been mostly positive, and they display just fine when correctly transformed. I wouldn't qualify any of mine as looking like "broken-down wrecks". But again, that's just my opinion.

I think the main reason for that is that the tailfin would then bisect the hinge for the arm/hand covers. The underlying reason that the CMs tailfin won't fully fold is that the length of the forearm has been reproportioned to be much shorter than the equivalent on a Gakken 1/35 or Namitoy 1/55. CMs could have moved the tailfin pivot down and back a little to address the issue, at the expense of having the end of tailfin protrude slightly through the end of the arm (where the hand pulls out).

I've still got my 2 boxes on order, and my offer still stands: I will offer all of my extras to MW members at cost, so that people won't be beholden to Ebay scalpers. In the [very] unlikely event that I have these before anyone else (ordered mine through BBTS), I'll be sure to let you all know all about them, and the "secret" valk. I'd expect that we should probably be hearing more about these very soon, as release was targetted for late January/early February IIRC.

eriku, thanks for posting your pics. Sucks that the thing is so shabby. I'm assuming that my offer to post some comparison shots is no longer needed?
-
I'll make you a deal - I'll post up comparison shots to complement eriku's, when he gets to it.

Something really interesting about those pics is that the blue Legioss shown in fighter mode has an auxiliary missile pod between the arms. The arms in this picture appear to be correctly spaced, and not smooshed together as shown in the linkup pics. I'm still not wowed by this toy, but that would seem to constitute a major improvement from what we've seen. The other detail that's more obvious now is the inability for the tailfins to fold completely into the arm/auxiliary engine housings. The tailfins are visibly longer than the recess they fold in to, so this tells us that the previous supposition that the fins were possibly "mis-transformed" was incorrect.

Bravo! Very cool stuff, MT. I was jazzed to see that Lego U-Joint employed there... I'll bet that it's responsible for about a third of your drive noise What are you using as a lube on your jackscrew? Lithium grease?

Southern Cross & Genesis Climber Mospeada
Hiriyu replied to msterling21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This subject might be better served in the 'Other anime/science fiction board", but... The ADV sets are pretty much the only game in town for a legit R1 release with subs. I have this set and the A/V quality is good, though don't expect much in the way of extras. There is a little bit of character and mecha lineart viewable as a slideshow on the discs, and a small booklet with some pretty cool interview material. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

There are a few more differences. The whole nose/forward fuselage assembly differs in length and proportion, as does the chestplate, back hatch, and backplate, in addition to what you mention. -
Very wise choice. This is the reason I tend to subconsciously filter out much of what I read on the internet. If someone cannot articulate their thoughts without using crude language, I don't hold their comment with much, or any weight. *quick edit - I don't mean the above in any moralistic sense, just in that if they are not able to express themselves well, there is too much leeway for ambiguity and misunderstanding.

I honestly try to stay pretty balanced in my views, and try to refrain from useless criticism, but... I just don't like this sculpt. I said as much back when the proto was introduced. It is incorrect in almost every detail, and takes many pointless liberties with a design that I love. I can understand the need for design or engineering compromises, but so many of these just seem to be completely arbitrary, cosmetic, and negatively affect the visual impact of the toy. As many others have stated, I'd agree that he namitoy Legioss', though poor in execution, actually did have a pretty kick-ass sculpt, in terms of looking the part.
