+1. As Ray says, the DVD set can be had really cheap; I think I paid about $25.00 for mine a few years ago. The booklet that comes with it IS worthwhile, containing several great interviews and recollections of the production staff.

Need Urgent Help On A Car Question
Hiriyu replied to the white drew carey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I missed your reply back the first time around. Agreed with everything you mention. While the intrinsic quality of VW/Audi products is actually pretty decent, it is for the service life and basic serviceability that I describe VWs as akin to a Bic lighter. About 15 years ago, I helped a friend replace the engine in his early '90's Jetta... It kind of raised my eyebrows that the first step given in the service manual was in fact to remove the rear seat . Before that job was done, the entire front end of the vehicle (core support, lights, grilles, etc.) had to be removed and refitted. I do love German cars though; BMW, Mercedes and Porsches all seem generally to be much more service friendly and sane. -
The reissues are rerelease/reproductions of the Bandai 1/55s, which came in "plain" boxes. The original Takatoku 1/55s had textured boxes. Takatoku hasn't been around since late '83, so it's not likely we'll be seeing reissues of their releases.

Au contrere, mon frere. I think that you missed Dante's rather clever Mac Plus joke there

Hehe. You are Daisuke, I presume? Love your work. Nice pic Gilermo!

The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV
Hiriyu replied to areaseven's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hey man, that creates what is called downforce. You have to be a pretty good driver to able to tell the difference. Back when wings first came out for cars back in 2003, I was the first one in Illinois to get a really big one. Makes a HUGE difference, especially on a FWD car. Anyone who says anything else just doesn't know. -
How far would you go for some Macross lovin'?
Hiriyu replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Wasn't there something about piloting helicopters too? When I was 12, I would routinely walk at least 2 or 3 miles to my local model shop for Macross goods. Er, that's far, isn't it? -
Some rules are unwritten. Go ahead and try it out, make a new thread, see what happens Note that I am joking of course, and I am not in any way actually encouraging that any such thread should be posted. I wouldn't do it, if I were you.

Nice work, Dante. You did those models yourself?! Beauty, man. I used to have that exact same Honda - any chance I'll get to see it crushed by a Regult?

The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV
Hiriyu replied to areaseven's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ehh. Ya know, that was actually when the show, er, nevermind. (I was going to say that that redesign signified the downfall of the show, and go into alarming exposition in support of that theory, but on balance, the show was actually pretty silly to begin with. Bonny was hot though, I'll give it that) -
Bet he runs his AC 24/7. The dark force of the Massive Electrical Bill. How you been, JBZero? Still have that foreign girl locked up in your house?

I was thinking that a new keyboard might be more appropriate. MEMO does have his quirks, but I don't think that he's actually a bad guy. To all those posting about it, MEMO's avatar pic is actually of some grilled carne asada, which he very kindly prepared for the attendants of a past MW Con. No, I was not there.

Yep, lends credibility to those odd rumors floating around the interwebs. How long now until one pops up on Ebay or Yahoo Japan?

Waitaminute, waitaminute. Isn't "Protoculture" still regarded as a fuel source in RT? This is an honest question, I have no idea what developments have taken place in that franchise.

LOL. There is so much rich history there. Really though, it was the transition from Warner to the Tramiels that doomed the home-computer and console brands. The arcade division still had some good years left in it. Now, Jack Tramiel and family - there are some extremely interesting stories there, the subject of many fascinating books.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues Cory. If it does get to the point that the balcony option seems overwhelmingly attractive, please do us all a favor and send me a PM first (I mean this sincerely). This is a toy with an extremely complex transformation mechanism. Truth be told, mine are both still in their initial states of transformation to armor-mode - they seriously look great in this mode, and I haven't had any impulse as of yet to transform either back to bike and rider mode. Maybe in a few months, or years, I will endeavor to transform them back... but it is not an operation to take too lightly. Hope you have better luck, man. Gillermo, awesome pics. You must have a very understanding girlfriend. She sounds like a keeper.

I most always flew solo, but of course I know of the Blitz Pigs Always seemed like a really good group.

Dude!! Welcome back, great to see you here again. Stick around, the noobs all need your help

Kinda sorta. The best plan for survival tends to be to apply opposite rudder (opposite of direction of spin), and apply a little down-elevator (nose down). If you can get the plane to dive, you have aerodynamic authority and are flying again. There are plenty of situations where nothing you can do will right the plane - best to eject in that case. I can remember one funny occurrence in IL-2 from years ago, where I was just messing around doing aerobatics in a P51-B. I was doing a knife edged turn at high speed, and lost it, skidding into a flat spin (all too easy to do). I was at relatively high altitude, and had a little bit of time to try to wrangle the plane. My plane-wrangling failed, and I bailed at a fairly high altitude (~2000m). Drifting down on my parachute, I watched my plane right itself, and continue to fly around in ascending circles until it ran out of fuel, such was the way I had it trimmed. Maybe there is something to the "let go of all controls" theory after all

Perversely, since upgrading my video card a few months ago, IL-2 no longer works correctly for me, and I spent hours and hours troubleshooting to no avail. There's something about my 4890 or the current ATI Catalysts that it don't like . I can either run it with minimal detail and lighting effects (runs great, looks like poo), or I can run it with full detail and lighting effects (runs great, looks like poo due to crazy artifacts). It kind of bites, as I've been playing since '03 and have been without my fix for a while now. Hope the driver gets sorted. All that aside, IL-2 is my absolute favorite combat flight sim. I'm holding out for its replacement, the BOB:SOW series. I didn't even know that there was a console port in the mix until I read this thread. I'll have to take a look at it.

I checked your site right after posting about it... and of course, you were already on it. Your pictures (and of course, text) are much more descriptive than the publicity shots. I'll have to pop in on the licensing thread, thanks for the heads-up.

Has anybody seen these? Looks like kind of an attempt at the Yamato 25th Anniversary JPS scheme... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;picture=out

I am quite looking forward to this one - I loved the original as a kid, so much so that I programmed my own light cycles game in Atari Basic back in the day. I am also embarrassed to note that I have probably seen the original movie in the theater more times than anyone else on the face of the earth, but not necessarily due to choice... See, way back when, TRON was released just slightly before E.T. What was that, '82, '83? I actually went to see TRON once with my family, and a couple/few other times with friends. Saw it of my own accord maybe 3-4 times total. When E.T. came out, it became one of those must-see movies, and at any theater, there were invariably lines stretching around the block to see it. On the multitude (oh, god, I don't know how many times) of occasions that I attempted to see E.T with various friends and family groups, and failing to get in, we would invariably sit in on TRON instead... Bringing my in-theater viewership of TRON to some incredibly high number. I can remember sitting in on TRON one time, when the over-played film and projector were so overworked, that the film melted onscreen (during Sark's address of his conscripts). That was cool. To this day, I have still never seen E.T. In fact, at some point, I decided that there was such a perverse universal conspiracy to *prevent* me from seeing E.T., that I consciously decided that I must *never* see it, out of sheer bloody-mindedness. Fact.

iirc, I'm pretty sure that one was from Macross:The New Generation.
