The simplest solution would be that there are many Macross-type ships if you, as an author, just wanted to have a Macross ship in your show and be lazy about justifying it. As a watcher, though, the simplest solution is really to believe that is really the Macross, because that's what the clues are pointing to. And by clues I must add also that the true episode title remained hidden until now, thus emphasizing it was going to be a big surprise (not unlike other Macross TV series where the first opening was altered to prevent spoiling). Sheryl was popular in these polls even before episode 12. I don't get what you are saying. By the way, in terms of fan art in pixiv.net, Ranka got more. Her nyan nyan dance was the most popular subject of fan art for the first episodes. It was equaled only by fan art of loli Klan Klan, with just a single episode with this character out (it reappeared only with episode 9)! Then it was ninjin loves you yeah. After a while Sheryl recovered ground a bit, also because the next episodes portrayed favourably. Sheryl was usually drawn in her concert outfit. The most popular outfit for her after that is the green shirt of episode 5, not a chance since in that episode she was more likable. Sheryl started even substituting Ranka in her own scenes: there was Sheryl with a carrot costume for instance and other variations. Now, with episode 12, Ranka consolidated her upper hand. Her キラッ☆ (the "I love you" sign with sparkling stars) is the current most popular subject of Frontier fan art. It's so popular there are many variations with characters not from Frontier (I saw one with Crilin doing a Taiohken, and Piccolo going deculture). There is also here and there some romantic fan art Ranka X Alto which was lacking before. Also, Ranka's phone got more fan art than Bobby. FV

I can't understand the hate, too. She is just a supporting character that takes all fanservice scenes otherwise destined to main characters. Also one friend is a symbol for many friends (even despite Luca and Mikhail), and this helps differentiating Ranka from Sheryl: Sheryl is individualistic, while Ranka is a team player. She also needs a female friend for other reasons. Nobody else could have said Ranka "if you don't do something, you will lose Alto" in episode 11. Sheryl already got Grace, Ranka needed someone close to emphasize her thought with. It is the same function of Fuyutsuki in Evangelion, he is just there to explain Gendo. Not all characters need to be 3D. FV

This remind me of a 4chan thread where someone shopped manly attributes over Suzaku (Code Geass) and someone recognized where they came from Anyway, it's clearly a reference more than a recycle, because if you have seen the preview you will notice Alto performs the same Cobra maneuver Shin did FV -
Macross Frontier Plot Theories...
Final Vegeta replied to Kronnang Dunn's topic in Movies and TV Series
An even more crazy theory is that Galia 4 Macross came from the future. The Macross is called "chojiku yodai" after all, where chojiku IIRC has a kanji not only for "space" but also for "time". If fold distortions makes time pass differently, probably there could some kind of fold distortion where time becomes inverted, allowing time travel (what if you stop in a fold distortion?). The same could be true for the Vajra, they come from the future. And Grace too, she's a Terminatrix FV -

Tanks have less armor on the sides, on the back and on the top. This is not because who designed them thought they absolutely weren't going to be hit in places other than the front. If you are worrying about not having enough protection on the back it means you are doing something wrong on the tactical level. Usually you don't charge enemy backwards. Also it should be noted that the torso is bigger and less mobile than other parts of a body, so it is the place more likely to be hit. The combination of not in front + not in the torso is a good defensive one. You say the rear fuselage is the only thing that covers the cockpit; well, in some VFs the heatshield is the only thing the covers the cockpit, and they don't look that much tougher than a fuselage. No, it's just a Quamzin clone. Occam's razor. FV -
It's not that she didn't care to know, it's just that Ranka is a shy girl. FV

Can't be, the lost leg was replaced. FV -
I agree. Up to now all points to the conclusion that the VF-25 has no PPB, including the fact that they would have better been using it already. Maybe it will come as an upgrade later. Maybe Kawamori simply thought "Screw barriers, in Super Robot Wars 100% evasion is better!". Also no indications the knife works on the same principles of PPB, this is fan speculation up to now. FV

Nobody noticed that sequence contained some kind of blooper. There was no transition whatsoever in the two scenes, no loop or vector thrusting or whatelse. It can't be used as a real reference for VF abilities. Maybe the sequence was just projected to be extended in the DVD. The way I see it, the comparison between the VF-25 and the VF-27 is more like VF-11 / VF-17 than YF-19 / YF-21. The YF-19's advantage over the YF-21 was slightly more powerful powerplants (which should be a given since Shinnakasu was building them for both VF ), so it was faster while equally manouvrable (not taking into account aerodynamics, they just got the same class of vernier thrusters). To give you data straight out of the Compendium: YF-19 Two 42700 kg [x g] class (maximum instantaneous thrust in atmosphere; 67500 [64700] kg [x g] class in space) Shinnakasu Industry/P&W/Roice FF-2500E thermonuclear turbine engines replacing two 56500 kg [x g] class (maximum instantaneous thrust in space) Shinsei Industry/P&W/Roice FF-2200B engines in beginning specifications. YF-21 Two 41200 kg [x g] class (maximum instantaneous thrust in atmosphere; 65200 kg [x g] class in space) Shinnakasu Industry/P&W/Roice FF-2450B thermonuclear engines. We now can see why the YF-21 was initially superior in stats and then the YF-19 prevailed. We still don't have enough data on the VF-25 and the VF-27, but having 4 built-in engines the VF-27 is likely to be stronger in Battroid. As for speed, if we watched ep. 07 again, we can notice Alto was trying to get in the carrier first, but when he arrived the VF-27 was already there. One of the point of episode 08 is that Brera was simply toying with our heros. If he was to get serious things could have ended in a gleam. FV -
To be exact, Compendium words it as: He thinks the VF-25 resembles a slimmer VF-1 Valkyrie in Fighter mode, but transforms like a VF-19 Excalibur. Keyword here is resembles. Featuring the same swing wings design, I think all can agree on this. The part about VF-19's transformation is a bit tricky. I agree with Kawamori. This is taken from Macross Design Works (it wasn't me the one who scanned it, btw). In the earlier sketches of YF-19, Fighter's nose was folded down like it is in the VF-25. We add the upper chest transformation from the final YF-19/VF-19 design and we get the VF-25. Even codpiece flipping over to cover the crotch is similar (though in VF-25's case legs are attached to the codpiece). So yeah, the VF-25, as a design, is the evolution of the VF-19. (the earlier sketches also show how the YF-19 came from the VF-11) FV

The question is not "Can we expect a 2nd soundtrack?", it's How many soundtracks of Macross Frontier will come out? The first OST covered about half of the anime. Sheryl can't sing the same songs over and over forever, and Ranka can't have only covers, CM jingles and a debut song. FV -

I think this is how things were meant. After an initial surprise Brera got ahold of himself and started dodging again. FV
