If Striker Eureka has a vegemite reactor, Gipsy Danger must be burning Crisco in that chest turbine. ...which would explain why it dies in the trailer. All the running around gave it a coronary.

I think it's in the trailer for a bit... the one that has a chest full of cannons/launchers/tubes of doom. I'm not expecting anything more than a modernized 70s monster movie story out of it. As long as it succeeds on that level I'll be happy.

Supposedly Jaegers were doing okay against the Kaiju until something changed, and they either had to change strategies, make improved Jaegers, or both. I'm guessing Japan's was one of the first.

It's a plot device to have someone who lost a copilot have to overcome their fear of linking with someone else again. The loss is apparently very traumatic and usually kills both people, but one of the main characters survived and is emotionally damaged as a result. A Jaeger is also apparently too much for one person to handle on their own. Coyote Tango shows only one pilot, but if you look at the text on the blueprint it looks like it's the first Jaeger that was built(it's listed as Mk1, whereas the others are listed as Mk2, Mk4, etc), so maybe they ran into problems with the solo pilot. Just speculation, though.

Crimson Typhoon I can see maybe a third person controlling the extra set of arms. No idea about Coyote Tango. Maybe it's a budget model.

In the comicon footage del Toro said they're synched together, with one person controlling the left half of the robot and the other person controlling the right. If one person tries to control the whole thing by themselves it injures them.

Awesome Freeware MMO realtime Strategy Game; "AIRMECH"
Syngyne replied to Shaorin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is basically Herzog Zwei in a browser. Which is not a bad thing. -
I am a bit let down over the lack of 70stastic music in the trailer.

Not to mention every animal they rode. :\

It's partially sorted when you're selling them. It sorts them by grade first, so all your I items are first, followed by II, etc. How it sorts them past that is anyone's guess.

MWLL is still very much a beta. Lots of problems with people crashing, and unless you get onto one of the good servers, the lag makes it pretty much unplayable. That being said, when it does work, it works really well. It plays a bit like Battlefield- you start out as a foot soldier (either a Clan Elemental or an IS trooper in Battle Armor) at your base, and are given some credits to start. From there, you can either run around on foot, or purchase a vehicle or 'Mech. Initially you only have enough for light units, but you earn more credits by killing the other team. No customization yet, but each vehicle/'Mech has 2-4 variants to choose from, and when you mouse over them it tells you what the unit's loadout is. After you select a unit, you wait a bit for it to build, then one of the vehicle bays opens up and your unit's sitting in it ready to go. Just run up and hop in (at the moment, for 'Mechs you actually have to use jump jets to get to the cockpit). There is a Clan base and an IS base on each map, with vehicle facilities and defenses. From what I gathered you're just trying to knock out the other team's base. I haven't gotten much play time in due to the technical issues, so I can't say for sure. Things that are neat: LRMs actually work like LRMs. When you fire them, they launch at a high angle, so it's next to impossible to hit anything at short range with them. If you have a target lock, the missiles will come down on your target. If you don't, they'll come down wherever you were pointing your reticle when you fired (provided it was at a spot beyond minimum range). Autocannons actually work like autocannons. They don't fire a single shot, or a single shot disguised as a big stream of bullets, they are actual automatic weapons. TAG and NARC. If your unit is equipped with TAG, you can designate targets with it. When you do, a notice pops up your teammates' HUDs that tells them someone has a TAG lock. They can then fire off missiles which will home in on the TAG lock. I think NARC works the same way, only it's a missile you fire to designate rather than keeping a beam on a target. Aerospace units. There are fighters and VTOLs available on most maps. Things that are not so neat: Stability. It's crashy for a lot of people. Lag. Apparently this is partly to do with Crysis' networking code. The team is going to port it over to Crysis Wars, which had much better network code, but no idea when that's happening.

Dorkiest Mechs of 3025 (BattleTech)

I dunno, the Urbanmech has a certain charm to it... it's like an angry R2-D2. But yeah, a lot of 'Mechs from 3025 were pretty silly looking. -

I think the Japanese versions are certainly technically better done as far as artwork goes, but a lot of those designs seem waaaay too busy. On the other hand, they look like they have loadouts that actually match their stats, as opposed to most of the art in the 3025 manual.
