Pre-ordered on NY. Their currency conversion looks incorrect; definitely let paypal handle the currency conversion. First time ordering with NY so I hope everything goes well!

Thanks forgot to touch on my earlier comment regarding animation. I agree that the animation quality is quite good and it fits the story well.- 216 replies

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Couldn't resist, I watched the first 5'ish eps on youtube last night an started dl'ing the CA DVDs. Doesn't look like they're quite finished with the dvd version though it should be complete very soon. I was surprised at how engaging I found the story. It felt epic from the start and the military tactics and political intrigue are well done. Can't imagine the twists and turns the story will take in the next 100'ish eps but I'm excited to see more.- 216 replies

This sounds very cool. I've read a lot about LOGH but never actually watched an episode because I'm not typically crazy about older shows. I suppose I've become accustomed to the eye candy most newer productions have to offer. At any rate, (I think) I'm in; though I may not be able to stop myself from watching a few eps before new years.- 216 replies

Picked up GN-U limited coloring version VF-11B, YF-19, YF-21 and fast packs (except for the 11B; sold out!) I really enjoy the GN-Us so I'm happy to have these for the holidays. Wish I could purchase more but my toy budget isn't what it should be (yet).

Saw the preview a few days ago and it looks pretty cool. Will def try to catch this in the theater.

Excellent; I think you'll dig Dune. Curious how you'll enjoy the Ender books. I thought they were amazing when I read them in college but I tried reading them again recently and couldn't get past the first handful of chapters (meh). Didn't hold up as well in my opinion but you will prob dig them the first time through. Happy reading!

Another vote for the Foundation Trilogy, epic epic masterpiece. The Robot series, also Asimov, is quite good as well. Dune is another wonderful series. I enjoyed some of the books after the original trilogy but the first three are the best. Old Mans War and the first two sequels are fantastic. Loads of references to classic sci fi tales; core story reminds me of Starship Troopers. Haven't read Zoe's Tale yet but I'll get there. Another fave is The Stars My Destination by Bester. So many things to love about this book, the main character undergoes a drastic change from beginning to end and it's an entertaining read. edit: forgot The Peace War and Marooned in Realtime by Vinge (in a word bobbles!). So many more but these are a great start.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0

Watched the first eps of Panty and Stocking, and Yet Town Keeps Going/Turning. Cute shows; Panty and Stocking def reminds me of Power Puff Girls and the lead of Yet Town Keeps Going/Turning has such a wonderful voice. Look forward to the next few eps. -
Enjoyed the heck out of the first episode last night. Who doesn't love zombies? Wife was spooked by the gore but we had a lot of fun with the show. Plan to keep watching and def want to checkout the source material as well.

Macross Plus - interpretations of the ending

This sounds reasonable, thank you for explaining much better than I could. I seriously doubt anyone was raped; and I find that idea a rather gross interpretation of the events depicted in the OVA. Just my opinion (I'm allowed, the intar'webs said so). Aren't there novelizations that put a finer point on what happened in the guld "hulk smash" scene? -
Looks great! Definitely asking for one of these for my birthday. OT: anyone know when the Gurren Lagann SD Infinity is released?

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0
spacemanoeuvres replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think I have to watch another version of that ep. The one that I saw/read seemed very literal and I didn't get that (above) from their interaction. It was more like, "Komuro, you'll stay true to your word?" or something like that; which I didn't quite understand. Also thinking of checking out k-on soon but I have to get through planetes first. -

omg I totally forgot about that part hahaha The end of the last episode was a little strange (groping etc.) Are those kids together now? I guess I'll find out next week. -
Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
spacemanoeuvres replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
omg what about "Yor: The Hunter From the Future"? I remember loving this terrible (terrible) movie when I was a kid. Haven't seen it recently but if I recall correctly it's pretty damn awful. So awful that it comes around full circle to good then back to awful again. -
hahaha, yeah the make out session in the their new bodies was...*gag* gross but funny!

waahhh? You didn't like the bullet-time panty/boob sequence? blasphemy! Over the top fan service aside I think it's a great show. Can't wait for next week. -
I have that ring tone too! That's so cool about the stranger who gave you the shirt. He knew you'd enjoy it way more than he did.

I like you're idea of watching the original series on the days/months they occurred, neat! I drive a roller skate (3 door toyota yaris liftback). In my experience, using AC increases fuel consumption by about 10%. However, depending on how fast you're going and what type of vehicle you're driving it can be more economical to us AC vs rolling down the windows. You have to experiment and see which works better for your driving conditions. At any rate, I'm happy to learn I'm not the only person driving around bumping Macross Frontier music. Maybe I'll have the nerve to leave the windows down the next time I'm at a stop sign or red light, hahaha
-
I commute about 35 miles (one-way) to work and in the summer I typically leave the windows down so I don't have to use the AC (trying to save gas). Anyways, I totally feel like a nerd when I pull to a stop or red light and I'm blasting Mac F music out the windows. Sometimes I close the windows (in 90 degree weather) so I don't have to turn the volume down for fear of being embarrassed

The last episode was so funny. "Just slow it down, I'll shoot hitler out the window"
