Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread
DarrinG replied to JCSaves's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I agree, it is a matter of taste. But its fun to get other opinions. To me, this straight on shot looks like a mess. But again, I need to see more of the show and watch it kicking butt - that would probably sway me . . . -
Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread

Interesting description of the VF-2SS, most of your points I will not argue. So please describe for me in the same way this armored VF-25 pic above, especially the straight on shot. -
Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread

I must see more clips of MF so I grow to like this armored valk. To me this ship does not look good. I like the armored VF-2SS better, and I know what kind of reaction that comment will get . . . -
I've been waiting for more news on the Garfish! Where will be get it from? Are we talking 2 weeks, 2 months?

Green Beta arrived. Have to say it is the loosest / floppiest of the bunch so far. The hip extender/retractor goes in and out with gravity, or basically whenever its handled. Paint is chipped on several places, see pic below. Can someone sculpt a chest cover that not only covers those eyes but goes back and hides the chest gun? Have not changed modes yet, more pics to come . . .

I think I saw this on eBay the other day for $1,500? Can that be right? Best mech in a live-action movie so far . . .

Everything you wanted to know about your yellowing plastics - and more . . . http://vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/189 (protect your valks; this has been a psa)

REALLY? I did not know that. I guess a toy collector should. I'll Google it. THX for the heads up. Is that why its a good idea to use incandescents or fiber optics in your display case?
-
Hey! Didn't expect to hear from you yet. Did you get all moved? I hear what you're saying. I wish it had been Beagle that covered the whole line instead. Here's to Toynami finding the Mospeada niche profitable enough to revive the Fuke Red Ride-armor project. I know, I know - doubt they will . . . (in other news; got my RB.com message that my green beta is on the way)

Hate the Jack Archer and fast-food-quick add-on characters. They're usually developed in such a shallow way you care less for them than a CF pilot. I want to see Tobey (or someone else appropriate) as Rick if the focus of the RLAM is on the Macross portion. Come on WB - surprise us with your smarts and the sweet deal you'll make with BW to skirt on this nonsense that's gone on for ages. BW can then release it in Japanese as Macross LAM in return for some legal leeway here. And all the RB haters can watch that version subtitled in Engrish . . . (there, everyone's happy)

The making of a 1/72 Tacticar Pod Graug--the musical!
DarrinG replied to captain america's topic in Model kits
"If Kamjin is nearly 12 meters tall, he is clearly too large to fit inside the cockpit of the Glaug. At best, the Glaug might accomodate a 10 meter tall Zentradi. In this case we can assume that either Kamjin's height is wrong, the size of the Glaug is wrong or that both sizes are correct and we are meant to ignore the problem." Who cares! Bring on the Glaug! -
Huh - yep - I see it there. I also see the art of the Tread changing modes, that is not in the new book I believe. Curious, as it a "complete art works" . . .

WHOA - Excellent job. I did not want the 1J CF - until now . . .

The smoke needs 'weathered' way darker. Think it would look awesome then . . .

I'm a huge Mospeada fan and have never bought a CMs product. That tells you something. Even Toynami did not go as far as I think Yamato would on the extras. A Yamato 1/60 Legioss / Tread would be a dream. A Mospeada Yamato ANYTHING would be awesome. I cannot picture them saying; "Yeah, let's just leave off the Tread top missile bays and bombs, no one will really care." "And the giant cockpit eyes on the chest are fine, let's not have it flip over to blank white" OR on the pilotless drone; "let's not do the flip up shoulder missile launchers, it'll just complicate things." I AM happy with all I've gotten, don't get me wrong, but I can still dream. I do not find myself wanting on Yamato 1/60 valks or destroids, they seem to have gotten it all . . . (except maybe gun straps, Oooo and side covers - OK maybe I am a little hard to please)

Here are a few of my favorites: Note how he's targeting the clam shell, then you even get to see the explosions from the hit. And how come we never got to see this "eject sequence" (not that I remember anyway) . . .

HA! I just read some of that RB.com thread - had a LOL moment . . . PIZZA THE HUTT - "By the way, Frontier ripped off some things from Shadow Chronicles" MICRONIAN ACE - "I really hope the crackpipe doesn't burn you . . ." !! (priceless) http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...enumber=17#post

I think its still possible, however remote, that WB could strike a deal with BW that allows them things we don't think they'll be allowed to do. I agree it will be seriously "re-imagined" -- but we may also see some shocking details left IN . . .
-
The book is great. So many cool details. This series should have had a sequel, guess it may still the way we're keeping it alive. Not only should the Toynami Beta have featured the top shoulder missiles, it should have had bombs as well . . . (there is still room for a true masterpiece!)

Know how you feel, I may have to break down and get my shadow alpha from RT.com. Recently got my green alpha from someone here on MW and it was a pretty sturdy item - just be cautious! -- Oh, and on those saddle bags, they really are supposed to be that green! I got my new Mospeada book and it clearly shows them dark green. Gotta have them somehow . . .

Whenever I see this thread updated i get stoked for Phalanx proto-pics! Where are they? Gettin' worried . . .

Favorite obscure/under-rated toyline

I dug Battle-Beasts - they were great. I have not read this whole thread but I doubt these were listed: Sectaurs Have the whole set somewhere, although the hive is pretty beaten up . . . -
With the aliens looking so human they would have been better off doing the whole thing in costumes and use CG to enlarge them throughout the movie. This looks very fake. We're all seeing it on this thread and even my office mates who are not sci fi fans are saying the same. Hmmm - I imagine Cameron has taking serious note of District 9. I bet its success has not made him feel the most secure about his own approach here. Then again, there may be such a huge ego (or extreme confidence?) going on (lucas?) that second guessing at his level just doesn't happen anymore . . .

Seems like 14" tall would be perfect for display with 1/60 valks. I would love the chance at one of these (if I can afford the final price). Saving for a Garfish right now too. Will watch this closely . . .
