I was wondering about the vertical stabs being all-moving awhile ago and just came across this pic that looks to confirm it. Has any other aircraft had both all-moving horizontal and vertical stabilizers? The YF-22 just had one pair but this thing has two sets.

Here's a few hi-res PAK FA pic that I don't think have been posted here yet. Hey David if you look at the first pic it does look as if the LERXs are angled down a little
-
If you look at around 2:00-2:04 in this vid it looks to me as if the vertical stabs (?) are of the all-moving type. (the front edge looks to moving just a bit.) I really haven't been following this too close but what do you guys think, all-moving or not?

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
hobbes221 replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
Okay just got my copy yesterday and love it (even not being able to read it). But I have a question, on pages 16 and 120 the pics of the FRS.1 Block 5 Ark Royal VF-1A - On the nacelles in between the 'U.N. SPACY' and 'SVF-9' markings there looks to be a blister or fairing that I have not seen before, anything on what they are? -

That is just outstanding! Nothing else to it just outstanding work, thanks for sharing.

Your Favorite (Best) Fight Scenes
hobbes221 replied to Ghost Train's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Alright here is my list -Gordon and Shughart's stand at Super Six Four's crash site in Blackhawk Down -Bank scene from Heat, Val Kilmer running that CAR-15 was outstanding (yes I know not a true CAR-15, but that's what I'm calling it for kicks) -Chingachgook vs Magua at the end of Last of the Mohicans -Any fight scene with Tom Jane from Punisher -Hudson's last stand in Aliens sure I have some more, maybe later. -
Great job man! Now - FAST PACKS!!!!!!

Okay I kinda thought as much as well but tossed it out there for feed back. What do you think about them moving together as we have seen, enough area to give some movement on their own?
-
Off topic but as to that -14D I don't know if it is the same one but I heard a story of a surface ship officer getting a ride in and as the pilot rolled or pulled a loop the GIB found that his straps had not been pulled as tight as needed by his head hitting the canopy. Well to pull himself back into his seat can anyone guess just what he may have grabbed? That's right he pulled that little yellow and black handle between his legs!
-
There was that one -1D flying around with the canopy up...

Anyone have any thoughts on the feet/nozzles themselves having an effect on flight control as they seem to have a fairly large amount of surface area? If that is the case then maybe the upper and lower parts could move independently as well, that would allow for some of the thrust to remain moving aft as to having the full line of thrust moving. Assuming that the large increase of area of the nozzle opening may cause a drop of airspeed as one petal moves, the flight control system may automatically increase engine output to compensate. Well just a idea that came up, what do you guys think?

Good point March, but as some of the later model VFs have feet/nozzles that retract a little (VF-25 is a good example) in fighter mode the ankle system may simply be locked out until the feet are deployed for whatever reason. Not saying you're wrong and I'm right or anything just a counterpoint. But if they are free, how much range of movement do you think we are looking at?

To add to anime52k8 pic here's a shot of the belly and I marked the area for the chaff and flare dispensers right behind the snake bay. Oh yeah there's one on each side too, but I'm unsure of how many rounds each side holds.

Well done. Just outstanding work, don't know what else there is to say but outstanding!

THE UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME THREAD

Sweet stuff anime52k8, but I would really love to get a VF-400 in a WWII F4U style like the VF-4 that Talos did awhile back. But hey it's your work I'm just happy with anything you post, keep up the great work man! -
Many people here have had theories along this line. I repeated my post from months ago just to kick in the analogy I was using, mostly because I remembered the big talks we had back when Frontier first showed the new style fold animations as to if this was a new tech, recon or whatever, I was just stating my view not trying to say 'here's something new'. - that's why I put the little disclaimer in my post. Just kinda skimmed the thread as I don't have much time as of late to hang out online.

I said once before that the two ways shown, fold in/out and the 'gate' opening way could be described by saying that you can go through a locked door one of two ways. One, go up and put your boot to the door or two, go and unlocked the door, open and walk in. Which works faster? number one (if you do it right and don't break your foot) which is better for the door, frame and takes less energy, but more time - two. So maybe both ways can be used by the right type of Fold engine, the Frontier style used for most of the time but still keeping the fold out way for an 'aww poop' moment ( and yes I really did type 'aww poop' - think Sealab, happy cake oven, and french accent ) I know this is a really simple way to look at it, and if anyone has said anything along the same lines (in a much better and smarter way), sorry not trying to steal your ideas or anything. Oh well that is just my way of thinking as for why it's shown differently in the series. Advances don't have to mean that the old way can't be used at all, there is just a time to use one way and a time for the other.

Martian Successor Nadesico is the only one I can think of off the top of my head right now. -
It looks that as of now they are saying the SE can supercruse with just the 'side bays' as they are calling them (FAST Packs sounds even better now ) or be able to reach Mach 2.5, which they say is not possible with external stores. No word if new engines or just due to flying clean yet.
