My take on this is that the SDF pre or post refit is more along the lines of a battleship that had aircraft carriers added and NMCs are straight up carriers so I would go with an SDF winning a 1 vs 1 over a NMC. Plus with the way that the carriers/ARMDs were mounted outside the main hull of the SDFs that would help in taking damage as that much the weapons and fuel/propellent for the VFs would be farther away from the main systems in ether mode. The NMCs have the bridge right atop at least part of the hanger and that to me would seem to be a weak point in the class. All in all I would like to see SDFs still serving as escorts or as long range scouts for fleets such as Frontier.

As it looks I would have to say no. But like Mark Nguyen said they could make an adapter, or as is looks as the mount is smaller then what would be needed by a Macross class the panels could be on 'soft' mounts and move to conform to the shape of the ship. I took your pic and marked the areas that I'm talking about. The larger box would be the movable panels and the smaller one could be where the actuators are. (is this for your fic or just wondering about it) And I know that nothing like what I'm talking about has ever been shown, this is just an idea that it could be done -

You know I was wondering about that myself. Also do we know if the seat moves in battroid mode as well? -
I don't know if it's just because it's new or what but right now I'm thinking that Ranka's 2nd DYRL is my favorite version of that song, or at least a strong second to the original. And no sweat Gubaba, you gave me the heads up at the very least, thanks.

Thanks for the info! on a side note with music such a big part of Macross and while watching the battles form Frontier I had the odd thought of what if a pilot didn't like the music? I can picture as least one VF driver with something like Metallica or some Zombie playing for his fight music
-
I thought it was just me, hey if anyone's got the one Gubaba's talking 'bout could you drop me PM. Many thanks
-
Well we do so have the movie coming up some time so I really don't think that this will be the last that we hear from Frontier soundtracks. With everything that Sumdumgai listed as missing along with what Gubaba was saying in joke(?) that he was wishing for as he said... I can see at least one if not two more OSTs not counting whatever they do for the movie. Time will tell.

I was gonna say something like 'track... and track... are great!' and things like that but I can't. Because the whole Frakking thing is Sierra Hotel! (Look it up under military slang for a definition)
-
Got it DLed but having some problems playing it with itunes working on it now, thanks to Tsuchiro, Gubaba and Major Focker --Edit-- got all but two tracks working, will keep at it! --Edit-Edit--After a total FUBAR and another DL it's all good and sounds SWEET!

I'm getting the slight vibe that some people have a case of target fixation on Grace and her flight suit, not that there's anything wrong with that, just an observation on my part. -
I wouldn't mind in the least if someone were to drop me a PM on this as well, thanks

VF-22s in service with S.M.S on Frontier?!?
hobbes221 replied to Anon's topic in Movies and TV Series
Would have been great to see in the series, never have really liked that the air wings in Macross were made up of one main VF for the most part. I think the best we got was from M7 with a handful of -17s, -19s and -22s tossed in. Oh well maybe in the movie we'll get something new. -

Good theories as always Mr March. Now I'm kinda liking the idea of both a motion capture system and the flight suit working together as to cross check each other to help lessen any errors that could happen. -
I can't vote yet, I'm stuck between HMM and ASR. Like how fubar the first got at some points near the end and like how Alto handled his, sure he seemed oblivious to much of it (or most, or all of it depending on who are talking to) but I tend to think that he just didn't know what he wanted in life other that to fly. And I can also say that as for his oblivious nature I would had probably reacted the same way, a girl would have to hit me over the head with a 2x4 to drive it home that she likes me. (I have been told just that by some girl friends before)

While all the rumors bouncing around about the plot of the movie I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if anything said by Kawamori right now to be disinformation. I would like to think that it being the 25th anniversary and all that he would have something big planned and maybe would not want to give it away, even before a release date has been given no less. (unless I missed that part) Anyways this is just me thinking too much after having stayed up far too late for far too days now, along with having my mind twisted by BSG (still get get over that they killed Cally! - can she be the first 'deck bunny'?) it has become very hard for me not to jump to the 'conspiracy' train of thought with all this. -

My only problem with that is looking at today's fighters the stick and throttle are already covered in buttons and switches used to fly and fight. I don't think there is much more space to add anything, you could get around that by having multi-use controls that have different uses in different modes but I feel that it would very hard to keep everything straight. As an idea of how confusing having switches do different things in different modes can be, I have heard for guys who were backseaters in the old F-4G Wild Weasels that their gear had around one million different configurations depending on what controls were in what setting. Not saying that you or anyone else is wrong or anything like that, just more of it's most likely to be a mix of everything we have talked about and more. Who knows SK himself might be lurking around here building up ideas for that VF tech manuel that I have been dreaming about. (DO YOU HEAR ME KAWAMORI! If not that at least a new big fat Macross art book, please, I beg you! ) -

Going alone with what Morpheus said about the BDI system, I have had the idea for some time that all VFs have had a type of BDI but it would have been more of a 'reflexive' system. The pilot would make gross or general commands with the controls and the finer points would be picked up by the system. If this was the case then the problems found along the testing of the YF-21 could be explained by the fact that the -21's system was asking for the pilot to do nothing but think the maneuver through the whole way, instead of the computer having a general idea from the commands given by the flight control it was having to filter the command strait from the pilot, as in when -21 pushed the -11 into the ground it could not tell the difference from just a random thought from an actual command. If Guld was to have had his hands on the controls and not moved them then by my line of thinking he could have had all the bad, evil thoughts about Isamu that he wanted and as long as he didn't move the stick everything would have been good. Anyways just a idea I had. He pulled a 'Borg' on her and now she is one of them -Edit- (Whacks self on forehead) Oh man I can see it now, someone starting up the "Ranka 'Resistance is futile' Lee Fan Club" -

Hey that is one of the best answers that I have heard for this problem, great idea Mr March! That would also allow for the scene with Michael and his -25G when he was talking with Klan out on the hull back in episode 9. -

My theory is that given the way that the EX-Gear is used, by this I mean that control stick and throttle along with what would be the the arm rest area behind them are on joints being that they are arms in their own right there could be a little bit of movement in them once the Valkyrie is in battroid or gerwalk mode that would allow the pilot to slave the movement to VF's arms. Something along the lines of the Arm Slave system from Full Metal Panic is what I have been thinking lately. -

I was thinking and could not for the life of me remember if this had been talked about before but what does anyone think of the problem with Klan in her micronized from? Could this be a sign of future problems with the Zentradi/Meltrandi gene pool? I was watching the last few episodes of stargate SG1 and the whole thing with the Asgard and their own problems with having used cloning for so long got me going on this. I guess that we need to know more about her background. There could also have been problems if the Zentradi went back to the old school way of reproducing as well, if for some reason their reproductive systems had developed defects from not having been used for so long. Does anyone know if they still use cloning tech around the Frontier time frame? Once again sorry if this has been gone before and feel free to ignore me if it has. Oh and grss1982 about the EX-gear and the hands not being 'your' hands, makes Alto way back in episode 1 when he folds his giant paper airplane out of that poster all the while in his EX-Gear look pretty slick. -
