  1. but they look so much better when they're not...
  2. na-skip kita siguro dun sa Pinoy MWers thread ... back to english baka magalit mods... now i also have no more worries getting more of these v.2 VF-1's and according to Graham, Yamato will be flooding us w/ lots of them. Good times indeed for Macross Fans!
  3. so far i've done 4 hinges and posed and transformed (i tried to be as rough as i can)... no signs of cracking and no more stress marks. "pare"... you're "pinoy"? if so "walang anuman" (translation - you're welcome.)
  4. weathered Hikaru 1S for me.
  5. Viral got all the remaining lifespans of all the beastmen that died...
  6. this is the only 1A that's been done that i wan't... of course if they come out w/ a non-exclusive 1/60 Max TV 1A , i'd get that too weathered 1/60 valks for regular folks like us would be great too. $300-500 for weathering a valk is something i would never pay for.
  7. hope the 1D comes out by valentine's day
  8. good news for MISB collectors...
  9. the shoulder hinge is NOT a replacement, it's the one that came w/ my 1S... no crack, just tiny stress marks around the fat end of the pin. i just finished sanding down the fat end of the pin and reinserted it back... it is still pretty tight, no worries whatsoever that the pin will slip out on its own, 0% chance... tested it by closing and opening the hinge continuously many times and i even cranked it... seems fine... even the slight bulge it had near where the stress mark was and the stress mark seems to have disappeared! ... i have put as much stress on it, pulling the two parts in different directions, as much as i possibly can w/o forcibly breaking it... and its still fine.
  10. 1st run Roy 1S. Well, Graham did confirm that Yamato did not change the material used for the hinges, and i doubt that they will. The cheapest solution for Yamato is to change the pin... only on the fat end of the pin is there a chance of cracking/breaking... the other "normal diameter" end of the pin seems to have no problem whatsoever notwithstanding what kind of plastic is used.
  11. i will be doing this fix on all the shoulder hinges of all my v.2 VF-1's... it will help me sleep better at night!
  12. when i heard about new reported breakages on the v.2 1/60 Roy 1S, i checked out my Roy 1S shoulder hinges and found some tiny stress marks around the fat end of the pin. it's one of two related things - the plastic is too thin around the fat end of the pin or the fat end of the pin is too FAT. so i proceeded to dismantle my 1S and got the stressed shoulder hinge and soaked it in some gun oil (i guess any lubricant will do.... except 5eX lube ) hoping that it would make it easier to push the pin out. IT WORKED! (see pics) now i will be sanding down the offending chunky part of that hinge pin...
  13. i see somebody is enjoying their valk (w/ a minor hiccup) more than a piece of paper w/ a pic of Ben Franklin on it...
  14. wow, more casualties... one of the shoulder hinges on my Roy 1S has some itsy-bitsy stress marks around the fat end of the pin... afraid to transform him anymore... any materials engineers here know how to reinforce plastics??? something that can be applied like paint??? Yamato should just put in a pin that doesn't have a fat end... only on that end are the cracks/breakages/stress marks happening. if they don't want to do another mold for thicker plastic parts then that's what they should do.
  15. OP really looks O.P. (out of place) and i get that its safer to put the old 1/60 on your makeshift stand than the new ones... smart move
  16. check here - link there aren't too many glued parts on the v2 1/60 compared to other VFs... just a lot of "screwed" parts (including the "screwed up" shoulder hinge)
  17. reading through this thread again... i think it would be safe to say that if Mr. Scream Man gets a broken shoulder hinge then that would be the time to panic .
  18. one thing i've noticed on the shoulder hinge of my Hik 1S is that the serrations on the supposed fat end of the pin is not discernible anymore compared to my Roy 1S and Hik 1J...
  19. i watched this again during the holidays (finished in 2 days) and i sorta forced my wife to watch w/ me... that's what she said - why the hell is everyone dying??? but, i guess, that's what moves the audience... when Kamina died, i figured "that's why his character is so over-the-top, 'coz he's supposed to die early... and it'll be where Simon will move into the main character position..." but coz Kamina was soooo over-the-top, you still get a feeling in every episode after he died that he was still a very big factor in the development of the story and the other characters, esp. Simon and Yoko (even Viral, even after he realized that Kamina had died). BTW, Kamina is my fave character on the show. Kittan's death was really a tear-jerker... poor poor Yoko, guess that's why her alternate character is a teacher... she ends up becoming a HOT unmarried woman (i would've said "old maid" but i didn't want to insult Yoko's character ). i also hope somebody makes an action figure of mature Yoko w/ black jacket and thigh-high boots, it's my fave Yoko look. i'll wait for your reaction on the ending between Simon and Nia... sad...
  20. credit to dante74 for inspiring me to do a "look-up" pose a la superman.

  23. i use the U-shaped connector (i think the mid-sized one... or is it the smallest???) and clip it at the bottom of the backpack (see pic)... but i haven't tried it w/o the FP's on. i know its not secure but it doesn't fall off unless you hit it hard, i guess ... i had my focker 1S in a similar pose below in my display case for around 4 months and it never fell off... i even tried to shake my display cab to test if it would fall off and it didn't even when one of my SOC Mazingers fell back off its display platform (good thing the glass is tempered) ... but Maz got some battle-damage on his a$$
