LOL at both the 30-something-guys-that-still-like-to-play-w/-toys (i'm here) camp and the MISB collectors camp for both thinking that they're the one's being looked down on and misunderstood...

i don't think there's any hate, at least not from me... what i hate is when you choose one over something else for perfectly good and/or practical reasons, then people automatically think you hate the other thing that you didn't choose...

LOL, poor ole me ... my setup's much much worse than that, and it's been to the repair shop a couple of times, i'm massively embarrassed to even show it! LOL

yeah, just like in some sports w/c require equipment of some sort, if you really suck at it, no amount of high tech or fancy equipment will help (suck at golf - sold callaway clubs; pretty decent at badminton even w/ cheap bootleg equipment)... however, even if someone has some basic skills to begin with, crappy equipment will definitely hinder the development of said skills... i'd bet that even phenoms like Tiger Woods/Lance Armsrtong etc wouldn't have won as many tournaments/races if they only had crappy/consumer end equipment... well, MJ still would've won as many NBA titles coz his shoes were just for show and for making boatloads of money... it definitely did not make me jump higher or stay in the air longer when i bought those air jordans... well, here's to hoping a new cam will bring out some skills...

hey 1979... looking at your gerwalk pics i'm guessing you haven't extended the legs at the knees... it really helps in doing more aggressive gerwalk poses...

she decided to get a canon SX10 IS (budget reasons & taking pics of the kids from afar)... she read the comparative review and while it's still not a DSLR (w/ the big sensors and all that) it does have a lot of manual settings to mimic shooting w/ a DSLR... i'm gonna be trying it out (finally, it's going to be cool to take pics w/out a flash and not have the pic come out super grainy) and see if i'm gonna dig this photography thing and maybe i'll save up for an entry level DSLR kit maybe by 2010... i've been kinda put off buying electronics lately coz it really sucks for me whenever i buy something and it's outdated after a few months.

another thing about keeping something MISB... i'm guessing it comes from people wanting to have something they feel is "perfect"/untouched, but with all the defective stuff (from diff toy makers) we keep hearing about, how can one be sure that their's is not defective, esp. if it comes in a box w/o a window display??? ...my wife doesn't really mind me buying these toys as long as i don't go "shopaholic crazy" or impulsive and pay the bills first... EDIT - the 3rd group should be renamed - "Collectors who want their toys and eat it too..."

ooh, i've done that before too... couldn't wait to get home... even had the valk on my lap ( not the first thing i've had on my lap... ) while driving...

i'm w/ these guys... what's the point if you won't have even a li'l bit of fun w/ them... that's pretty much the definition of "toy"... and most of the people who can appreciate your collection (at least for Macross stuff) are on these boards and they will never actually see your collection in person, only in the pics you'll post... and it's not really that fun to post pics of boxes... i also find it more enjoyable if it's transformable... it's been a while since i've handled my revo or gnu valks coz i find it more enjoyable if it transforms aside from being posable... i also have a couple that i "abuse" but most are in a glass display cab w/c i gawk at... but i do change their poses from time to time whenever i feel like it... i say invest in a nice display cab or shelves... to help keep you sane!
