Which part? The movies or the losing interest in Macross? For me it's the latter. I only got sucked back in by the Mac0 HMRs and the reissues by Bandai. Buying new Macross merch made me want to rewatch the various Macross series (Mac+, Mac0, DYRL, Flashback, and I'm currently slow watching MacF. I'll try to rewatch Mac2 when I get the HMR VF-2SS reissue)... except Delta .

I'd bet on threezero beating arcadia to it. I really regret selling the one I bought for cheap in HK long ago.

I keep staring at Max's face sculpt and comparing it to the face sculpts of Hikaru 1.0 and 2.0 and I feel like KC took a step backwards and used the more cartoonish features (eyes, nose and mouth) of flight suit Hikaru instead of the updated face sculpt.

Your Most Recent General Toy Purchase - 2024 Edition

Finally lucked out and found one of these for a good price. Didn't really want to pay full retail just for an accessory pack. Just really wanted the gatling gun.- 639 replies

I thought I would be more excited to finally have a not ver. 1 Armored 25S in my collection after pining for it all these years. The valk I just couldn't get at a reasonable price and got me so pissed off at Bandai's shenanigans that I decided to quit collecting all those years ago. I am glad to finally tick one more box and happy that my copy doesn't have any qc issues, but I may need to rewatch the first part of MacF to get more excited about this.

Don't forget HMR VF-25s. It's been a while since the crappy VF100s (used to have the armored alto)... about time to use what they've learned from refining the HMR line and renewal-ing and then revival-ing the DX chogokins.
-
Been waiting for this reissue. Glad I didn't bite on any of the ones I saw on the secondary market.
-
It's out. Nice. But proly gonna arrive at my local distributor in January. Pictures here will have to do in the meantime. I'm liking the head sculpt too.
-
Same here. 4 VF-0 HMRs fit in the same space as a single 1/60. And agree with @Chronocidal that Arcadia valks are ridiculously high priced (IMO). Not the way to recoup what they lost as Yamato.
-
What would really be great is, if someone would invent something that permanently restores yellowed plastic.
-
Could possibly be related to this being a TWE. It's possible that regular retail DX Chogokins are being assembled in a factory with crap QC while the TWE factory has (slightly) better QC.
-
Got rid of my 25G revival without even opening it after preordering the 25S, which is the only one I really wanted. But IIRC from early reviews, the reason it sold badly was because it was a floppy mess right out of the box. Poor QC?

What Graham said... as far as I can recall, pretty much all the shops were legit.

Man, I miss toy shopping in HK (Kowloon side)... hopping from building to building, every floor filled with toy shops right next to each other with almost everything one could want. You can even compare prices and haggle, and buy from the cheapest seller. Used to go there once a year in the mid to late aughts to combine vacationing and toy hunting and bring home 1 to 2 "repatriate boxes" filled with toys. The good ol' days.

understood very little, but pretty obvious that the reviewer was very happy. Looks solid.

I didn't think to try and squeeze in the VF-0S in my acrylic box, but after seeing that stand of yours, I remembered that the included stands for the VF-0 HMRs come with an extra arm and joint (the reissue VF-4 doesn't) for higher posing/mounting. So I got one and voilà...
-
Yeah, 360⁰ view is great. I find myself looking back to get a view of the side profile of the VF-0D. Got this via local online shopping app, but I'm pretty sure that these are sourced from China hence the cheap price. Amazon has these "Acrylic Display cases/shoe boxes with magnetic lid, stackable..." (edit: Amazon $10 ea sets). These should be available on most Chinese shopping apps for much cheaper, but I don't know about the shipping costs.
-
Yours is much nicer, but the acrylic one costs less than a third of your brannboll. Can that 1/60 Yamato fit in there in battroid or fighter?
-
Nah, that's just for the photo. They're displayed in the darkest corner of the room, far from any natural light.
-
-
Haha, I see what you did there.

That's what I used to think, but with all that weight/stress bearing down on plastic joints with metal pins, that's a recipe for accelerated plastic cracking. Heck, I've had toys with cracked joints just in a static standing pose and there've been instances here of simply defective plastic parts cracking or disintegrating even while stored in its box. It's a sad fact of this hobby (along with yellowing plastic), which is why after this VF-25S, the Riobot Legioss and Tread and Robo Dou 1S, that'll be it for me buying large scale transforming toys... yeah, cracked plastic on plastic crack.

https://www.youtube.com/live/GhXjhOpfaks?si=N8TR1zToiZqri4VP Nobody's posted this yet? Almost 3 hrs. long. Not sure if this is the same guy with the crooked nose cone in battroid above... Armored Battroid seemed solid and not floppy when the guy carried it while on the stand for his final shot near the end. These VF-25 toys (and YF-29) still have the ugliest intakes out of all VF toys.
-
I'll keep it in Gerwalk mode for now until I get tired of it in this mode. Gonna keep this permanently in Battroid eventually. Transformation was pretty easy compared to the HMR VF-0s. Not fiddly at all...so far.

For wanting duplicates and not needing to get multiples of the 1/60 scale version as @MKT was alluding to. But, yes, "cost effective" might not be the appropriate term for a hobby where we're all willfully wasting our money .
