  1. Its the Gakken!
  2. I actually hate that game AF Delta Strike because the missions are SO HARD and the idea of Piston engine fighters taking on jets is just plain silly. Anyway for your comparisons its very hard to do an analysis as we don't much about the capabilities of the MFI and Su-55 in question. 1.44/42 vs Su-37 Its a hard one because we don't know how agile the MIG is and whether or not it has thrust vectoring..the bloody thing hasn't even flown YET. Does it have any weapons bay or even stealthy for that matter. I heard something about the MFI using active stealth by enveloping the airframe with generated plasma because as it is right now that thing is only stealthy in the mind of a true believer. If the MFI(vs Su-37) is non stealthy with external stores and thrust vectoring then i guess it would up to pilot ability. MIG-31 vs F-14 ? Unless you are referring to the Firefox ...F-14 all the way although the MIG-31 might have a manuevering advantage at high altitude.
  3. That VF-19 model looks weird...neither Diamondback nor Jolly Roger beside the decals. VF-102 Diamondback were disestablished around March 2002. They had nothing to do with the Jolly Rogers or USS Nimitz. "Original" VF-84 Jolly Rogers disestablished 1995. Name, Skull and Cross Bones taken over by VF-103 Sluggers not "merged".
  4. Can someone tell me the name of this 80s cartoon/anime...its troubling me a lot thinking about it. From what i remember its something the alien forces invading earth. The Aliens are exactly like humans except they have a pale skin and the alien troopers wear suits that look like the Black Mask Rider. I know later the aliens go into civil war with one side becoming allieds to the humans. I remember in later episodes the alien had a home planet described to be similar to earth and even had prehistoric animals like the wooly mammoth. As for the 3 main characters i know there is this guy who wears red google and drive a jeep or car(not sure), a chick who flies a combat helicopter of some sort and the big guy who drives another ground vehicle. Thanks for any suggestions.
  5. I guess people will post as they complete their customs.
  6. Looks like Namco once again is going to interprete the Su-37 as the dogfight optimised Super Flanker armed with short range follow-you missiles and the Su-35 as the Adder armed medium range missile platform, just as they did in AC4.
  7. I don't think the USAF would want to risk an uber expensive limited production airframe like the F-22A purely for stunts like airshows demo teams. They might just stick with the F-16 which is more economical to operate anyway.
  8. Getting a bit off topic here but for you guys who like the Tomcat please check out this video Simply cool http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cg...t=001046#000001
  9. This one is a real reverse enginnered F-5 by the Iranians called Azarakhsh. Wonder how useful is the 2nd tail ?
  10. Hey the VF-17 has swing wings too...at least that's what i notice while playing VFX-2.
  11. Was wondering any of you Mwers already purchase this book...lots of intersting articles inside i am sure red herring or not. http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_452.shtml Iranian Tomcats actually had their Phoenixes replaced by some sort of modified locally produced Hawk SAM. Note the new paint scheme on the F-14s look Flanker like.
  12. Hotshots is supposed to make find of Topgun. Love the sweet ol' Folland Gnat
  13. Its nice to see the UN Spacy needing money from commercials to run its operations.
  14. First of all i never liked the Top Gun movie because it was complete BS hollywood potrayal of the Real Top Gun. There is no Topgun trophy and its not meant to be competitive. As you you see is Tom Cruise bravado and nothing more. Anyway i think the Soviets are not likely to attempt to copy the F-5E(or any US type directly) in the first place. The Iranians otoh did reverse enginner the F-5E and produce a twin tail version called Sharfagh(spl?). But Suppose the Soviets did make their own F-5Es they would have acquired them from the Vietnamese Air Force. They did in fact acquire some US planes like A-37, CH-47, F-5A and of course the F-5E. As for weapon systems I think they would have given the *MiG-28* a jaybird radar and GSH-23L guns. Expect AA-2 Atolls and AA-8 Aphids as the main missiles.
  15. Why ask this ? The 28 are US Navy Agressor F-5E/F Tiger IIs painted in gloss black. Has ever got a NATO codename ?All fighters/fighter bombers have codenames assigned with the letter "F"...maybe they should call it Foolish ? Since its a F-5E it should have the same performance.
  16. Looking at the tail markings of the VF-0A they kinda look at someone doing the 'V' sign. It could also be a rabbit or playbunny.
  17. Top view is 40% done now. Here is the sideview with some cockpit details i forgot to post the last time out.
  18. Another FS-X/SX-3 picture..wished it was bigger though I wonder with those fins how would the mount lantirn pods if they ever wnated to. Another for those interested in the F-16XL take a look at this model for an idea of how weapons(bombs) might be loaded. http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~kasatosi/F-16XL.html
  19. I can't seem to find that color painting of the original intake fins equipped FSX with all the missiles and stuff but notice how the F-16 based FSX was to trying to be the Agile Falcon of the 90s. Had they stuck with the canards i imagine it would have even greater agility and can turn sideways without having to bank.
  20. Hey Glad you guys like the F-4EJ stuff Ok...maybe not exactly underpowered(perhaps speculation like Skull Leader said) but since it has the same GE F110-129 of the F-16C but since the F-2 is larger than F-16C its throust to weight ratio is actually worse. Had the F-2 not suffered cost setbacks it would have looked more like the AFTI Falcon with fins providing more CCV functions. How bout this early FSX design
  21. There is a copy of the Yomoiuri article posted a few pages back. Follow the link. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...ic=8543&st=280# I second that A reengined F-2 would be a good thing especially with the EJ2000 looking like a good choice seems although i see them sticking with an American derived engine as well. I guess you are probabll right after it would be handy when they need attriction replacement. For those of you who are interested in JASDF F-4EJs there is a great website outhere lots of detail and although in japanese you can still click on the links. http://www.f-4ej.com/
  22. Battle of the Planets ?
  23. That's akin to asking if the Americans were happy with their F-14 why would they pull the plug in the first place.... Many many factors. I didn't know the F2s were air-refuelable? I would guess they would be but have parts missing (to avoid being accused of being militaristic..). Well..the F-14A models actually had terrible engines that caused many many accidents. So of course many weren't happy about it. The F-14D otoh was tremendous leap forward in all areas including safety. The reason the pulled the plug is becuase of the Hornet mafia and that *genius* Dick Cheney. I think the F-2 are fully air refuelable. The F-4EJ were originally delivered without the refueling equipment but were later retrofitted. Although the JASDF doesn't have any aerial tankers yet they can always practice with PACAF tankers. If they are worried of being accused of being militaristic why have all this military hardware in the first place...they are going to be called militaristic anyway buying all fighters, tanks, Aegis cruisers and stuff whether under the reason of self-defence or not.
  24. Thanks Shadowerv2 Thats the one!!!
  25. @David Did any of the X-29 test aircraft feature hardpoints of any kind ? @Skull Leader Correction to the nickname of the F-2...i think it should be Viper-Zero. Where did you get the notion of the F-2 not being able to refuel in mid air ? Most of the JASDF aircraft are equipped with USAF style boom receptables. And they have plans to acquire tanker aircraft most likely in the form of KC-767s. And if you look at photos of the F-2 you will notice the refuelling point just like the F-16 on its spine. The JASDF definitely have more than 60 F-2s. I think around 76+ now and about 20 more to come. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/newse/20040808wo01.htm Rockets, CBU and dump bombs are nothing new to the JASDF. Even the F-1 and possibly T-4 trainers can be equipped to carry them. I mean they don't have much guided smart weapons like Maverick, JDAM, Harm and so on. The F-2 at least has one of the first operational AESA radars but i don't think an ADF version is going to be procure in the near future. AAM-4 development and induction has taken longer than expected. If the Japanese were happy with their F-2 why would they pull the plug in the first place ? F-2 website but in japanese lots of pictures though. http://homepage2.nifty.com/scotch_w/scotch_menu.htm
