Hmm, calling it a Quarter Pounder makes me wonder if it'll be referred to as the Macross "Royale with Cheese" in France. -
Quick, someone break out the instruments and lets start singing and dancing to Planet Dance. Saza Hajimaruze SATURDAY NIGHT, choshi ha dodai? LET'S STAND UP, BEAT wo kanjirukai.

I think it still does, the image seems to be the what the whole assembly looks like in fighter mode. You can see what seem to be connecting joints for the legs in both drawings. That, and it matches what we see on the side of the "hips" in what we've seen of the VF-25s Battroid mode. -

Great lineart, I'm sure more than a few of us are now probing these scans for every bit of info we can gleam from it. A few observations, is that a hinge on the small winglet in the leg, does that mean that it folds inside into the leg as previously speculated? Also, am I seeing missile launchers on the shoulders of the Cheyenne II? -
And the VF-1 uses less air/propellant anyway since it doesn't need to overcome drag. But while the VF-1 is doing these (and possibly less since it's probably vectoring thrust in place of firing more verniers), it's not supplying forward thrust, while the VF-0 still is, every moment the engines are lit, the VF-0 is gulping precious fuel, while the VF-1 only takes a drink when it needs to.
-
Actually, I think I get his point, the 25 shown in the scans looks blocky compared to the others. However, I beleive that this is more a result of the 25s design than a mistake on the part of the developers.

28, Bobby is simply waiting a year to propose to Ozma... Just kidding, for a society that was brought back from the brink of extermination, I have a feeling that the age of consent in general throughout post SW1 society is relatively young.

Well as long as the VF-1 can break the Kármán line, then it can be considered to have reached space and it's pilot would have earned his/her astronaut wings. I mean, X-15s were doing it decade, so what's to stop an overtech laden fighter with the latest thermonuclear engines from doing the same? Just don't ask the pilot to do spacewalks or anything like that. -
But at the same time, you're not constantly burning propellant like a VF-0 is. Put it in a Combat Air Patrol situation and the only time the Valk needs to burn fuel is when it has to change direction, or when a threat is encountered. To put things into perspective, aerodynamic friction or drag is proportional to the square of the speed; for example doubling speed quadruples drag meaning that over a period of time a faster vehicle needs to overcome twice the amount of drag one that is traveling at half it's speed, meaning it has to output more power and burn more fuel. In space, there is no aerodynamic drag so to speak (unless you pass through dense clouds of material), that alone means that the accelerate, a VF-1 in space doesn't need to burn as much fuel as a VF-0 in the atmosphere.

Well, technically, reaching space != reaching orbit. All the VF-1 has to do to reach space is pass the Kármán line (100 km) up in the thermosphere as accepted by the FAI. The only question is whether the VF-1's wings can keep generating lift at that altitude - the highest given altitude listed at the Compendium is 30,000+ meters (when giving the Valks top speed), but it doesn't really list a maximum atmospheric service ceiling. -
Yep, can't seem to find any Cathy fan-art. I have however, seen one of Grace in a swimsuit (granted it was with Sheryl).

One thing that always bothered me about the Q-Rea's "triple-barreled laser pulse guns" was that they were able to fire ballistic paint rounds. -
Depends on the efficiency of the engines. Also, in space, the plane shouldn't really be burning that much propellant since it only needs to overcome it's mass/inertia, meaning only accelerate, decelerate and maneuver. Once on the move a VF shouldn't need to burn much fuel if any.
-
Actually, most of the current differences between both models could be attributed to the conventional engines. The 0 is longer (longer neck) and has larger wings which can be attributed to needing space for internal fuel tanks. Also, being fusion engines that should be using relatively safe Hydrogen and not something radioactive like Uranium or Plutonium, radiation sheilding shouldn't be an issue. Although, from what I've read (c/o the Compendium) the VN-0 is not as much the VF-1s prototype but rather a technology demonstrator, showing off the new overtechnology derived transfomation sequence while containing more conventional tech (you could attribute the larger nose to using an older radar system, while the smaller nose of the VF-1 uses a smaller more advanced sensor suite, and we can explain the size difference mainly in the need for space for fuel). The true prototype for the VF-1 was the VF-X-1.

Methinks that this is just a case of someone not understanding what 'penultimate' means.

So all Ranzo really wants is for Alto to become a well known crossdresser, just like him.

We need a statue of macronized Klan NAAAAAWW! -
The forward swept wings of that airframe always did interest me. Made me wonder though if it means that even in the 2040s, most dogfights still occurred at subsonic speeds with the 19 pushing it by being able to effectively dogfight at higher transonic speeds where it's FSW would give it the most advantage.

He just has to make sure he stays away from any pineapple salad. -
Yeah I mentioned that as well, the 14's were originally seen in Macross 7 P*L*U*S in "Spiritia Dreaming." Although the pics of the VF-5000 and VA-3 probably made people miss me mentioning that.

From episode 11, it seems that all Hydra's were quarantined meaning that the one on the set of the movie was not an isolated incident and that it wasn't infected simply to kill Ranka.
-
Well, if you really want it to be complete it would be VF-0, VF-1, VF-4, VAB-2, VA-3, VF-3000, VF-5000, VF-5, VB-6, VF-9, VF-11, VF-14, VA-14, VF-15, VF-16, V-17, VF-171, YF-19/VF-19, YF-21/VF-22, YF-24, VF-25, VF-27 plus SV-51, Az-130A, FBz-99G, Fz-109F, Feios Valkyrie, Variable Glaug and whatever I missed.
