Hmm, anyone care to translate the last few posts made on Sheryl and Ranka's blogs?
-
I think it's made to make her sound older and a bit more sensual.

Max, Miria, Klan and the VF-25 Boys.

Well, he actually did pilot one, albeit with help from Hikaru and Kakizaki. -
I actually never noticed that... you mean to tell me Basara's meltran fangirls followed him even beyond the climactic final battle?
-
Did Shinsen use Vajula as well and have the VF-171s at the start codenamed Reamer (instead of the more logical and military sounding Lima)? The rest of the subs were decent, but the small things like those can really annoy me since I tend to nitpick at times.
-
I've got a question, is anyone else other than THORA doing the DVD/Blu-ray releases? Some of their subbing is kinda annoying (e.g. Vajula instead of Vajra). If not anyone know where I can get some other groups sub files so I can just tack em on to raws of the DVD/Blu-ray releases.

Point taken.

Who was your favourite Macross Frontier character?
d3v replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
Alto's an okay character. While it may not seem like it, he's got a few subtle nuances that alot of people may miss. However, it's just that Sheryl is just a more awesome character. For those interested, there are a couple of good posts about his character over at THAT. -
There a certain set of anime from a certain period before the it's popularity in the west that I will always enjoy (including Macross). However, I'm not too keen on most of the new stuff that's been coming down the wire these days.

Collateral damage and efficiency. Something like that would possibly hit friendlies as well as any non-combatants in the area. Notice how IRL, most militaries are very much focused not on making weapons that can hit more things, but on weapons that can accurately hit one thing hidden in a field of many things. Also, a shot like that would have alot of energy going nowhere and hitting nothing (if you're lucky, if you're not it hits a friendly or some unfortunate civilian) and that's not an efficient use of your limited resources.

Not in this day and age I believe. If I recall, Frontier's OSTs are the first anime OSTs to start charting that high in quite some time.

Knifed? He was effectively castrated by the Galaxy's greatest oyama! -
Well, it takes a strong man to resist being broken by Sa... Alto-hime. On a different note, is it just me, or do people seem to enjoy having Sheryl ride Alto.

I'm surprised that despite her vocal fanbase, there's only one Nanase vote (or maybe Gubaba is really just that loud ). I mean, if you look at it, she fulfills multiple fetishes, she's well endowed, she's a meganekko and towards the end, she fulfills the bandaged girl with one eye covered role as well. -
SK simply picks from what parts he has available in his Lego bin.

I disagree, Alto should be way higher in the girls list. -
I believe you're referring to Metal Storm. If there's anything specific I've been wondering about, it's that most of the AA fire was ineffective fire from guns. You'd think they'd have something like the RIM-116 SeaRAM that would be spamming missiles alongside AA gunfire.

IRL, the frontal position of the cockpit in the VF-1 was probably something of a Gundam influence as most real robot mecha for the longest time had their cockpits, or at the very least, the hatches fot their cockpits, in that area. In universe, well if your monitors fail, you can always open up the shields to see up front.

Summary of all SDFM/DYRL references in Macross Frontier
d3v replied to dreamweaver13's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ep. 1 -Sheryl's concert being called of due to the Vajra attack just like Minmay's concert was called off due to a Zentraedi attack in DYRL. Ep. 3 (and multiple episodes afterwards) -The way Alto and Ranka would meet on the observatory on the hilltop overlooking the city is reminiscent of how Hikaru and Minmay would meet on a park on a ledge overlooking Macross city inside the SDF-1. Ep. 4 -Alto missing out on the Miss Macross contest because he had to sortie, just like Hikaru (although Alto was at the very least, able to get a seat inside the theatre). Ep. 25 -The Quarter shooting the Vajra ship as it was about to shoot Battle Frontier at just about point blank range is just like in DYRL where Vrlithwai's ship shoots another Zentraedi ship that was colsing in to fire at the SDF-1 (right before Vrlithwai make's his speech). Also, are we still sticking to simply original series/DYRL/FB2012 references, or are we adding in references from others - because in the case of the latter, I'm calling Sheryl's "Atashi no uta wo kike!" -

Wait, was that bit about Michel ever considered canon in the actual TV series?

He couldn't help it, such is the power of Pineapples. That and it would be almost 40 years before the known counter for it would actually be created and another decade or so before it's miraculous anti-pineapple qualities would be discovered. -
I've been wondering about the anti-aircraft defense of the NMC class though. In the last episode (of Frontier), not only is Canaria able t land her VB-6 on it so that she can shoot out it's head (which I assume knocked it's sensors out giving Battle Frontier the chance to close in and sink it), but earlier on, Alto was able to not only get close, but get inside it.

When and how did you first discover Macross?
d3v replied to ShizumaRobo's topic in Movies and TV Series
I remember one of the local channels here picked up Macross sometime during the mid eighties. I remember being hooked to the point of borrowing betamax tapes of it that some shops were recording of TV and offering for rent. Never really finished it back then though. Rediscovered the series later on during the early 90's when Star TV started showing Robotech during the afternoons then afterwards, I got my hands on an issue of the Macross 2 manga, translated by Viz I believe. Later on, Star's chinese channel started showing Macross 7, although since the show was in cantonese I believe.
