  1. Well if you consider that English was probably the official language used by the UN Forces pre-SW1, but most of the people living in South Ataria probably spoke Japanese, it's probable that the language in use in 2059 is an amalgamation of both, romanized japanese with english as well as some Zentran mixed in.
  2. Specifically, the SV-51 positions the main part of it's fuselage horizontally while in battroid mode, eliminating whatever height it could gain from it.
  3. So if what I've read about the November issue is right, Sheryl finally caught up and overtook Ranka again. I wonder how the rankings for the guys look like?
  4. It looks like he's making up for his ancestors (grandfather?) lack of a spine.
  5. Hmm, if you think about it, the UN got a second big boost in terms of technology after SW1 that possibly would have never happened had the Zentraedi never come.
  6. When did the Frontier characters start appearing anyway?
  7. I always thought it was a Guantanamo class, or at least an early version before SK could go back and finalize the design for 7.
  8. Based on the AVFs designated mission, it seems more or less to be a fast, escape craft in case a SNAFU occurred in one of their missions and the pilots had to abort (but didn't want to eject). Besides, they were probably thinking that it would be cheaper to replace arms and legs than a whole plane.
  9. Since the original got enough posts to be moved to the Hall of the Super Topics, and yet there's still a large treasure trove of Macross fan art going around. Same rules as from the original apply (taken from MisaForever's post). And now back to business. I know it's all Sheryl images, but hey, I'm a fan and these pics were the ones that made me look for the old topic and realize that it had hit the limit.
  10. Personally, I've gotten used to referring to the battle section as the NMC itself and thinking of the City/Island section as a separate entity, the same way the old support ships (Einstein, Sunnyflower, etc.) were separate from the carriers that "towed" them.
  11. On a slightly different note. The November issue of Newtype has Sheryl ranked as #3 among anime females with CC and Keeln from Code Geass taking 1st and 2nd respectively. With this in mind, does anyone remember the rankings from past issues so we can see how the MF characters rankings have changed as the season progressed?
  12. That's one thing I've been wondering about. What exactly is the classification of the Island Cluster ships ad Galaxy-type ships compared to earlier NMCs and what is the classification of the Battle section alone. The Battle sections of each do seem to be the same class, however the City/Island/Mainland section is clearly different. Are they now considered as a separate class from the City sections? Or are they not classified as a separate class/ship at all, but only as part of a ship?
  13. Well it seems to be the trend nowadays and Frontier seemed originally slated to be Macross/Kawamori's take on this sub-genre. Blasphemy, without the love triangle, all we'd get would be Gundam with variable fighters. As convoluted as the triangle in Plus was, at least there were hints of a previous relationship as well as continued attraction between Isamu and Myung. The iffiest ones IMO are in II, where it Sylvie and Hibiki should have been given more time to develop as a couple and in Macross 7 where Basara should have been less... asexual.
  14. Actually, the protoculture seemed to be adept at both. They were capable of amazing feats of bioengineering and were also master builders, able to create spacecraft and weapons that were combat worthy for thousands of years.
  15. -DYRL, SDFM (tie) -Macross Frontier -Macross Plus -Macross 7, Macross Zero (tie) -Macross II
  16. Actually, since I can run h.264 mkvs fine even if I'm only using the motherboard's built in graphics card, I say a dual-core and 2gbs of RAM is all you need. Especially if you're not really into PCs games and don't want to buy a graphics card yet.
  17. They have, bigass suits called Queadluuns!
  18. Yes, unfortunately when the camera pans up to the face, you realized that it's Alto.
  19. Nope, while Alto is a pretty boy, he doesn't wtfpwn everything he comes across. Meanwhile both Mikhail and Luca show interest in the opposite sex.
  20. Yes, Aimo does seem quite similar to Voices, I wonder if Kanno was purposely thinking of the latter when she composed the former for Frontier?
  21. I think it's come to the point where alot of the posts here have to be read with a figurative "IMO" at the beginning.
  22. No, that would be the 33rd Marine Fleet. Hence why a few people were speculating that the Protoculture may have had an animistic religion. Makes sense since the force behind both is the same.
  23. What's to prevent someone like Grace building a miniaturized dimension eater into their cybernetic body?
