Ugh. In a way Sandman and Venom are kind of the same; they both manipulate their bodies into weapons and such. I fear CG overkill on this.

Does anyone know what that thing at the top is, the "Orgaride"? Is it a toy or a model, and what series or game is it from?

Weekly World News article, actually. 330444[/snapback] I was looking at the WWN at the checkout today when I was buying groceries. It said that there are people alive trapped on the Titanic. I would have though James Cameron would have seen them when he was down there...their reporters really go all out, I guess.

Fine Mold's Millennium Falcon pre-order at HLJ
Sarensaas replied to Penguin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Trust me, this kit is going to be SOOOO much better than the Code 3 Falcon. For such a expensive collectible, the C3F is inaccurate to the filming model in spots, especially the sidewalls, which for the price and availability of pics of the movie model is inexcusable to me. FM took over 600 pics of the filming model, and their accuracy on each kit has been the best of any model/collectible maker, short of the guys taking actual casts off original filming/pyro kits. -
Fine Mold's Millennium Falcon pre-order at HLJ
Sarensaas replied to Penguin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The thing is, if this was a resin kit, the price would be no suprise. But judging from Fine Molds other SW stuff, this is going to be resin kit quality, with over 800 parts to put on it, just how ILM did with the studio kits. Ertl rereleased their Falcon recently,so a lot of people will buy one of those for $20 and be happy. But this FM Falcon is going to look like the Falcon Mike Fulmer of ILM built for ESB when it is all done. -
I just remember his gf on the show. DAMN hot, I think she was also on the Drew Carrey show.

I'd like to see Frank Miller direct or co-direct a movie that would bring back memories- a Robocop sequel. People bag on Robo 2 and 3 which Miller was a part of, but give him the freedom on a new Robocop (I'm sure Peter Weller would turn it down, maybe alter the suit suit a tad for a new actor) and he could probably do something close to the dark humor that Verhoven nailed so well in the first one. A squad of ED-209s done with CG in a street war, have a ED-210 go after Robo...ideas aplenty...

George Lucas now wants to rape your adulthood...
Sarensaas replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it is mostly about advancing things, which I am all for. Everything as far as new material is headed towards digital, so why not expand the technology and let those with the talent use it. I know some people are wary of digital stuff, but I think Lucas pushing it this way will help make things more streamlined, and help digital effects evolve faster. This will be good for Sci-fi or fantasy fans, because stories TV or movie companies would ordinarily turn down because of budget reasons will get green lights now that digital production will bring the cost of things down. I like this quote: hehe...so you are playing Grand Theft Auto and suddenly the game tells you to get your sad behind off the couch and take your girlfriend out to dinner. -
Battlestar Galactica Viper Mark II
Sarensaas replied to valkyrie312's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It would be cool if Ertl or Revell-Monogram would come out with a plastic kit version of the MK-II. Battlestar Galactica is getting pretty popular, so maybe they have taken notice. -
Yeah, Luke didn't do to good with it either, rushing off emotionally instead of finishing his training, and dad made him pay. Cursed saber!

He also directed Legend, which a lot of people don't like, but was interesting to me for the visuals and the colors used, an I still am amazed that was little Tim Curry in all that Darkness make-up and prosthetics. Made for a nice fantasy/romance/action movie; the tone and mood was really unique. I can't wait for Scott to release the ultimate Blade Runner DVD he has been talking about.

Rob Liefeld's Teen Titans

Travis Charest's work on X-men/Wildcats: The Golden Age was incredible. He really stepped out of the image of everyone considering him a Jim Lee clone, and his work on Wildcats Vol.2 was great too, but, like Adam Hughes knows, trying to do interior sequentials with cover art rendering will blow your deadlines or make interiors look rushed. I like Jim Lee's work; his work on the X-men back in the 90's blew me away, but his stuff now has a sameness to it, which comes from having a system for cranking out work as the priority. Same type faces on everyone, same layouts. I admit I havn't seen much of his Batman work, but the Max Faraday stuff had this feel to it. He just doesn't seem to have grown as much as Charest has. Alex Maleev has some nice interiors on Daredevil right now. Very inky and realistic. -
Revenge of the Sith has been seen!
Sarensaas replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it was George reminding us of his "Size matters not" philosophy from ESB. Luke vs. the Rancor was another. I thought it was awesome that Spielberg got to finally work on a SW film in the scenes Lucas mentioned at C3. -
Anyone seen GOLDENBOY? it IS it's 10 anniv!
Sarensaas replied to sktchrtst2002's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That girl was pretty much drawn to perfection in that episode. Goldenboy was great; the guy who voiced Kintaro did a fantastic job on the dubs. One of the very few times where I really liked a dub job, and the voice actor seemed to really "get" what the show was aiming for. -
Ghost Rider movie thread
Sarensaas replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It looks like something Spinal Tap or Iron Maiden would ride into a concert stage on. Even though I liked the new version of GR in the comics, the chopper look has that bad-ass vibe to it. It would be cool if they went R with this one, but I'm sure it will be PG or PG-13. -
Michael Bay says "Autobots Roll Out!"
Sarensaas replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As long as Michael Bay has "The Touch" and "Dare" sung by Clay Aiken as planned on the soundtrack, I'm there. -
Really nice work, the only thing I notice, and maybe it was this way on the filming model, but the back end, from the section where the engines meet the intake sections, seems to droop, almost like they are not aligned with the rest of the forward body. Not a huge droop, but I noticed it the most on the pic looking into the back of the ship. I looked at the original filming viper pics at www.cloudster.com and the engines seem aligned straight but they dont show a back shot, so I don't know if it was on the master, but it just seemed like the sections should be aligned together more.

No Venom. Raimi says old school only, and I think Venom would be dumb too. It's a lot more fun updating the older classics than just having some CG thing with a Aliens mouth and CG tendrils, gives me bad memories of the Spawn movie *shiver* I'm trying to picture who Church could fit into, and I see him as Sandman, especially with the the way they are trying to show something never seen before. Electro, electric effects, seen in other movies, Scorpion, strength and the tail, kinda like Doc Ocks arm effect though, Hobgoblin, nah, GG coming back, Mysterio, maybe, kinda too hokey though. Cant be the Lizard, Doc Connors already played by a different actor. It looks like Sandman to me. Chloe Sevigny as Black Cat? Eh...she's always been kind of a copied version of Catwoman to me, but I guess they need a lure to make things rough for PP and MJ.

Star Wars Episode 3 Spoilers Thread
Sarensaas replied to zeo-mare's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hope we get to see Mace make some serious saber mobves in this flick. I mean, he has a purple Lightsaber. The ONLY purple lightsaber. You better be one bad futhermucker if you are going to be a Jedi with a purple lightsaber. He really didn't get too much fighting in Ep 2, just playing T-ball with Jango Fetts head. The confrontation with Palps should be cool. He moved DAMN fast...it seems the older a Jedi/Sith is, the faster he becomes. Yoda showed a similiar hyper-speed jumping around Dooku at the end of 2 -
It better have a pretty quick theater run to stay clear of the Lucas C&D Stormtroopers, unless it has Emperor George's blessing.

Some more of the great Blassty art. The last one isn't Blassty art but it looks like someone tried combining a Zaku and something from Blassty- -
