And here are some comparison pics to my pet bird, poppy.

Done! The exact colors were: Gray - Tamiya Color For Aircraft spraycan: AS-2 Light Gray (IJN) Blue - Tamiya Color For Aircraft spraycan: AS-19 Intermediate Blue (US Navy) They are quite similar.. Funny.. I never even noticed until you pointed it out. The 1/48 darker shade is a darker shade gray where mine is a grayish blue. 2 comparson pics to my 1/48 low viz:

hehe, sorry, I am lazy. I did panel lines on it last night so I'll take some new pics in a few hours from now after I get home from work (I uh.. promise! )

Style of the Last Couple of Evangelion Episodes..?
Guppy replied to Kamui 777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I see it more like Anno's mental breakdown on film. -
It's funny.. this is the reissue that I was looking forward to the most. But now that the Binaltech Hound is out, I completely lost interest. They should have brought out the old hound first as the new one has stolen the spotlight.

lol! That will teach me to not read the thread properly!

I don't need to say how amazingly perfect this is - but your photography is excellent too! I wish I had a few photo lights handy - a camera flash just ruins the true colours. And I appreciate how time consuming and soul-destroying painting a camo is. Did you go into a trance-like state at times while applying the hex scheme?

I got the HG 1/144 Sniper. It's a great little kit. I can't see how a HGUC could improve on it much.

my one big tip with a 1/60 - get yourself a good metal primer for the metal parts as the paint can flake off without it very easily. and put a few extra coats of paint and clearcoat on the tab that joins the backpack to the body. As this joint rubs a lot, the paint can come off in no time. And isn't the cannon fodder 1/60 able to support fastpacks? I forget.
-
it was originally a max. From the hlj.com sale page! But by the time I'd scraped off all the paint you couldn't tell. Although I went for the max as there were a few QC improvements over the hikaru 1/60. And apologies for the bad pics. they're a bit dark and pixelated.

haha, thanks! My skeletor avatar.. the avatar site it came from closed down and I can't find it again! But I thought the spy v spy was cool. Eternal D - the paint I used was Tamiya spraycans for aircraft. I'll check tonight and do a comparison pic. Sebastian - ok, just for you I'll do some panel lines! But I'm going to use a pencil (mechanical pencil, now do you know what that is?) as black marker is just too harsh. And I should really putty in those screw holes.

I half-finished this in record time... back in october. Then I went overseas, changed jobs, moved house, etc. So on the weekend I dug it out and finished the other half. here it is! You may notice I haven't glued in the wing lights.. I'll do it as soon as I find those tiny little suckers. More pics here (thought I'd save the bandwith) http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/batt2.JPG http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/batt3.JPG http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/fighter2.JPG http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/fighter3.JPG http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/fighter5.JPG http://users.tpg.com.au/dgus/fighter6.JPG

for the price of one of those soul of chogokin things i can have all three evas... i'm poor enough to go quantity over quality. my low viz vf1a is my expencive figure. haha, you have a good point! You can get a few of them in either a metallic paint or standard - I personally much prefer the standard look over the metallic. And you get great accessories with them. I looked around ebay until I found a seller who had the whole set and got a better deal. But treat them gently as I snapped the foot off the yellow eva. That's the price you pay for the great design - some joints are a bit delicate. They don't need paint - actually the factory paint job is great and they have printed on decals on the arms. You can get the standard figure on a blister pack, or the 'deluxe' in a box - but if you get the whole set you'll get the 'deluxe' accsessories with the other toys anyway.

How could I forget my crappy little Gakken "Henshin Robo" Mospeada toys?!? I bought them all. I fought long and hard defending all comers to get these on ebay and they SUCK SUCK SUCK!!! The min ride armor was sculpted by a blind, dead man and the mini alphas were designed and painted by his blind, dead, color blind brother. Eternal D - I am the same. I have like 150 star wars figures all piled in a box in the cupboard. It looks like a mass grave! Sebasitian - I was so disappointed with the Gerbera FIX. I wanted that for so long, and when I got it, you can't pose it at all and the damn arms and legs fall off.

I've got all the kaiyodo toys. They are nice, but the Bandai Soul of Chogokin ones are nicer. You should get those instead.

After another part fell off my PG eva-01 I got to thinking what toys I've bought over the years which I was really disappointed with. Not ones that you KNEW would be crap, like a Banpresto valk or a bootleg toy. Toys that you thought would rock but sucked. Please share your stories of woe. Mine are: PG eva - bad detail, acidic rubber suit eats through plastic joins ( I found out over a year after I built it you should wash the rubber suit in soapy water but by then it was too late. ) The whole chest section has fallen off due to that rubber suit . Small Matchbox Sdf-1 toy http://www.menet.umn.edu/~ngo/sdf-1_mini.html - just didn't understand this one. What was with the floppy legs? Matsamura Eva statue http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?KYD51117 - everything falls off, and it's balance is so bad it is impossible to stand up without serious modifications to the base. Yamato Escaflowne - luckily I saw Sebastian's before I bought one. cheap and nasty looking plastic. Love/Hate in Equal measures: the 1/12 Imai Blowsperior kit - beauiful sculpt, looks great in both modes, but so damn fragile if you breathe on it something will fall off.
-
I picked up the K&M set in Hong Kong for about HKD $120. They are really cool, but what Radd said is true - you have to swap HEAPS of parts to transform it - almost all of them to be exact! In fact the transforming ones are the least nice out of the whole set. The battle pod is really nice and the armored battroid is great - even the leg missile bays open.

How many years have you been posting here?
Guppy replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think I joined about April 2001, so I'm coming up on 3 years! wow.. doesn't seem that long. And I visit MW almost every day. I don't post as much as I used to, guess I don't have anything to say in my old age. -
congrats kevin! But pity your toy room.. soon it will be the Baby Room, and your garage or spare closet will now become the toy room!
-
Mine should be in the mail soon.. so I'll vote AFTER I get it. But my thoughts are that it's slightly overpriced but I still counted down the days until it was on sale.
-
lol! Beware the BUGSHEEN! Blaine - you're right.. they look like mospeada and power ranger love children.
-
I just picked up the Kaiyodo figure for about $20 US - nice toy with lots of accessories but not much taller than a star wars figure. Definitely get the 1/6 figure as this thing is amazing. Drifand - I bought some extra weapons for my Dragon figure - the MP40 & MP44 - they go quite nicely with him!
-
I loved DD. But after spending much time pondering it, dicussing it at length on line, etc, I started to think that in the end it didn't add up. Especially when so many important details are not included in the film - watch the extras and read the book - it pretty much lays out the whole plot there. But that's not a bad thing, it's still a very creative film that makes you think (and argue with your friends) You can get more backstory through the website which is my vote for best movie website ever. http://www.donniedarko.com/

I've been surfing ebay for YEARS trying to get one of the 1/40's. But they are far too expensive. So yup, I'd buy it if someone made it.
