did a search, but it's gone. But seriously, just read these threads again and you'll be fine. Here's a step by step so it's easier to read. 1. uncrew the air intake (the hip) and remove the broken part with the ball joint. 2. take a close look at the inside of the hip joint and you will notice how it has a hollow centre. 3. fit a piece of metal in there to give it more support. just get a paperclip or thin nail and keep trimming it until it fits. 4. then glue the joint together to give it some initial holding power and let that dry. Remeber to let the glue go tacky before you stick the 2 broken parts back together. use a poly cement type hobby glue. 5. Then for added strength (if you want to do what I did) apply some epoxy putty over the outside of the joint which you can get in any hobby store. Tamiya is a good brand. When it dries it is like a really tough plaster. You can shape it as it dries. After it is dry, sand it back so it's smooth. Then it will never break. Also, loosen the screws on the other hip's air intake as that is why they snap - the screws are too tight and the ball joint cannot move freely so it twists the fragile hip joint until it breaks. Heaps of people here have tried this so it's proven. I promise you it's easier than you think!

I seem to recall I didn't remove the broken part.. I just took out the screws in the hip and that came off. I also didn't drill thru the whole lot, I just fitted a piece of metal into the hip joint cavity, glued that then puttied over the glued together join. There's a very comprehensive post detailing step by step how to repair the hip joint that was posted here a while ago... lemme see if I can find it.

try the hobby store, or even the local hardware store. When mine broke I just hunted arond the house until I found a piece of metal the right thickness and trimmed it with pliers. I think I used a very large paper clip and clipped off a straight section of it. To doubly reinforce it, I inserted the metal pin, superglued it to hold then added a layer of epoxy putty on the outside then sanded it back smooth after it dried. Now it's break-proof! edit - maybe even those thin woodwork nails would be the right thickness.. once again, use the pliers to trim it to fit.

Good idea doing 2 at once. I bet it cut down the work load by a lot. Before.. and After!

wow, really nice! I love weathered customs.

After I saw the Wave kit I was praying for a chogokin. swweet! Hopefully if there's a fair bit of pvc it won't be too expensive.
-
Nah, one 'dog is enough for me. Like you say, they are pretty big, so no room for 2! If it's cheaper for you I saw that hlj.com have the Melquiyas on sale at the moment. here's what it looked like in pieces:

one day... one day! Maybe 2007. But by then the 11b might be too rare to customise!
-
LOL!!! That's who I was thinking of!
-
Renato, I see what you mean! His face looks a bit like a muppet's. nice figure though..
-
thanks! I've customised 2 1/60's and 3 1/55's and even a Toynami Master Piece, but not a 1/48.. I can't afford to buy a spare one to custom! My next project (been meaning to do this for a year now) is to customise a Yamato 11b into a 11c paint scheme. I got some line art from Graham and will pick one of 'em.

Finally finished painting and weathering my Yamato scopedog. After seeing Tim Brisko's one with the red shoulder I wanted to do the same. I chose a dark dull red for mine to make it realistic - you don't want a big bright clown nose on your shoulder to draw attention! Pulling the toy apart is really simple, except for the legs which have springs and quite a few screws. Airbrushing it took no time at all; the dry brushing took me a week. Well, I'd get bored and give up after an hour or two a night. I probably weathered it a bit much, but when you start it's hard to stop! Pics:

Now I'm just thinking I may have to buy a psp.. are some countries cheaper than others to buy, such as singapore or hong kong? I'm in australia and it's retailing for $400 (US$305)

MWgrish! I love that term. well we already have MWgrish phrases such as "Froating Head" and "Cannon Fodder" (I reckon we're the most consistent to use this) For anyone who could stand to read the Bablefish-ed text, what are those ride armors? Kit bash? resin DIY? they look great and I want them!

Loved the 1st 2 dune books, 3rd was ok, 4-6 I crawled through. I second Drew TWC, the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin is mindblowing. Please everybody go read this!! I love the way he's not afraid to f*ck up his protagonists, and have complete a-holes as some of the main characters. I tried to get into the Wheel of Time, but couldn't. I'll get pegged with rotten tomatoes for saying this, but I love/d the Gunslinger series from Stephen King. the more recent books are a bit scatty but the early ones are great.

From your synopsis, it sounds like a reverse-role of the 1972 Munich olympics.. so do you think this is a step forward for the fledgling thai film industry?

Even on the anonymous internet, I can't even escape the funny looks! Fulcy, great (well I may be extending my potential) minds think alike.. I was just thinking the same thing. Buy the smart gun kit and a generic Dragon german soldier figure for the blonde buff look and cap.

The only 12 inch figure I own is the Kerberos Panzer Cop.. Hicks will be the second. Damn that sucks if Drake is cancelled. He was #2 on the list. Vasquez looks a bit too 'dolly' for me, you know, being a girl, and the barbie thing, and when my friends come over, they'll see this... barbie.. with guns, and then they'll look at me funny.

found some new pics of the Hot Toys figures. I am getting them for sure now! Supposedly being released at the end of this month! http://www.blister.jp/item/list/character/14/

Screen Color version: and normal to compare: Screen Color dropship: oh! And I also found 1/72 decal sets for $7. http://www.jbot.ca/sciencefiction/aliens2.shtml

I vote no thanks.. I can't see how it wouldn't just degenerate into a flame war.

looks nice! The peasants are taking over!

you read my mind.. I was looking for new wallpapers last night! And that's the great thing about paying for the computer by myself. I can put what ever pic on the desktop I like and the wife can't complain.

In regards to your comment on post 1999 'beautiful' anime, also check out the Korean made anime Wonderful Days (aka Sky Blue) - jaw dropping animation. I've watched the motorcycle scene at the start half a dozen times now.

1/60 HG weapons systems ( for HG strike Gundam)
Guppy replied to eyesonme78's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I would bet they would release them for the PG. Since when has Bandai ever passed up an opportunity to market a Gundam kit? (although I am still waiting for an MG Marasai and Gerbera to be released)
