Why ya gotta hate on w1pe0ut? I own Every incarnation of F-Zero. GX is an awesome game. Still, my heart will always have a soft spot for Team Feisar.

The one episode that sticks out in my mind is the leader of a space colony considering he and his fellow children of the stars far more superior than their Terran counterparts. If by "Superior" he meant living out your existence in zero gravity with bones as brittle as pocky, then I guess he was bang-on.

Definitely Air Raiders. The Bad guys had a similar design, only their colors were black appendages w/ a purple body

Kill Bill good, Cabin Fever bad...
Yang_Neumann replied to JKeats's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Correct! The movie as a whole is over three hours long so they cut it in two 90 min movies. It also stars David Carradine (Kung Fu) as Bill as well as Sonny Chiba (The Street Fighter) and Gordon Liu (36th Chamber of Shaolin). With the score provided by The RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. I can't wait for it. "If you think you can mess with the Wu-Clan..." After hearing his work on Ghost Dog, I'll definitely be looking for this soundtrack come November. And normally I don't jump at movie just by previews alone, but I went to go see Cabin Fever too. The Kill Bill trailer and the Black guy sitting behind me heckling Cabin Fever made my evening worthwhile. He didn't have to stay but it's good that he, along with myself and about a dozen or so other Blacks did endure the pain of sitting through that piece of crap. Otherwise we never would've known that the storekeeper was actually telling the truth when he answered the question regarding what the gun was for. I didn't know what to say or do -

LOTR Trilogy Screenings This Christmas

It's LoTR, Not Dead Alive(Brain Dead to some) or Bad Taste. I wouldn't wish a marathon like that on anyone, any they barely hit the three hour mark put together -
I'll best remember him for his role in the movie "Sling Blade". It gave him a chance to show off his capacity for taking on dramatic roles. Before that movie we only got a brief glimpse of that every now and then in the aforementioned "Hooperman". RIP

LOTR Trilogy Screenings This Christmas

It's not as bad as attempting a one-man Evangelion marathon. I went to work two days later a shell of a man. It was not pretty-all the Disney films in the world couldn't have pulled me out of the slump I was in. -

Please tell me this isn't the same guy who dressed up as "Bubba Spice"-the so-called missing spice girl-at a PGA benefit in Nashville several years ago. I still have nightmares about his...never mind. Time does not heal all wounds and I'll leave it at that -
So let's say you have about 12 hours and 30+ dollars to burn on December the 16th. Well, if you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy you're in luck. In what is perhaps the biggest publicity stunt since the re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy six years ago, New Line Cinema announced last month that they will be showing "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers" in theaters this December. It gets better. These will be the "Director's Cuts" of the two films with all the deleted footage intact. "Fellowship" will be shown on the 2nd, with a running time of 216 minutes. On the 9th, the 221 minute version of "The Two Towers" will be shown. Then on the 16th select theaters will be showing all three films back-to-back. Babysitters are in short supply during the holidays, so I may have to pass on this event if it hits anywhere in or near Nashville. New Line/Warner Bros. will be announcing the participating theaters in early October.

Normally I'd buy it just for the simple fact that it was directed by him. Since this is the only live action film of his that I'm aware of I'm a little wary. Knowing that Neil Gaiman contributed to the screenplay (Penned? Translated?) tempts me a little.

Where's the Blade Liger? Or at least its head. I'm not too keen on this Fuzors concept. It seems like a wasted effort. Does anyone remember what happened to the Transformers popularity (both the toys and the series) when the released the HeadMasters? Quick note: I liked Starship Troopers. He may not have read the book, but that movie is the only thing that saved Paul Verhoeven's reputation in Hollywood after releasing that damned atrocity unto the world which we shall always remember as "Showgirls". Otherwise he'd be back in Europe doing more movies about the Black Plague-Hey, wait a minute. That would've been a good thing. On second thought, why did he have to make that lackluster adaptation? He should've stopped with Showgirls. Damn

Question about new live action EVA
Yang_Neumann replied to JKeats's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey, you're not kidding. I just remembered- "Sho Fukimachi" quickly became "Sean Barker" when they adapted that story for live action. Shinji Ikari/Shane Ingram-EEWWWWWW -
So I'm skimming through the features on my copy of "The Eye" and I come across a trailer for this movie that just happens to be a live-action effort by the one and only Mamoru Oshii called "Avalon". From what I gathered it's about this virtual reality game and the main character in the movie is trying to reach the ultimate level in the game and must reluctantly form an oft-times uneasy alliance with other players to achieve this goal. From the trailer it seems as if this movie is a .hack meets The Matrix meets Existenz. What reviews I could find are sketchy. Have any of you seen it and if so, is it worth shelling out the money for it?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot-look into all things Ranma 1/2. Tekkaman Blade 2 was an easy, if not short series to get into. One of my personal guilty pleasures of late has been the Fist of the North Star series. On the other end of the spectrum is the Hakkenden Collection, Outlaw Star, X and the Ys OAVs (Adol still kicks a$$ long after the TG16's demise). Last but not least is Excel Saga.

And by that Jolly Rogers means more than he has the time and patience :l to place into one post.

Question about new live action EVA
Yang_Neumann replied to JKeats's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wizard recently did a special edition of "Catsing Call" for the N.G. EVA film for their sister publication (Anime Insider) and had him down on their wishlist for actor they would like to see play Shinji. Have you seen Haley Joel Osment lately? I wish I had a recent image of him. If they're still showing it, check out the rebroadcasts of the GLOW Awards on G4TV and watch the live via satellite snippet of him after Kingdom Hearts won the award for Best Screenplay. Puberty has not been kind to Little Lord Osment. As far as the filming locations for the film, it has already been stated that the film wil be partially shot in New Zealand, as that is where Weta is based. The cast will also be a melting pot of actors and extras from many ethnic backgrounds. Let's hope Chris Tucker doesn't catch wind of this, as the last thing we need is a NERV officer screaming "DAMN, SHINJI! I TOLD YOU NOT TO LET EVA UNIT 01 EAT THAT S^2 ENGINE! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!" Seriously though, with the film's budget reportedly hitting on or near the $100 million mark, this live action retelling of the entire story had better not be disappointing. As far as length, four hours may seem like a long time for a movie, but the Director's Cuts of "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers" are 10-20 minutes shy of this mark each AND they will be shown back-to-back along with "The Return of the King" on its opening day in select cities. Twelve hours of Middle Earth. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. -
Four things; I apologize first off for the lack of an avatar and the change in the spelling of my name. Secondly I explained a couple of months ago that "Renewal" is a Dolby 5.1 remastered, jitter-free director's cut of the series with several extras INCLUDING footage from a live action project that was in the works a few years ago in Japan. DTS support would be nice, but I'll settle for 5.1EX. Number three is for all of you who were confused of what was happening with the ending, blow the dust off your DVD's and watch them WITH the commentary feature ON. After that you will come to know the truth in my fourth realization...... THEY DON'T CALL IT "THE END OF EVANGELION" FOR NOTHING

Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs

I vaguely remember this one. If I'm not mistaken didn't the fully combined robot say "Head 'em up, move 'em out" in a John Wayne type voice? Anyone got a clue
