With Wolf's Rain drawing towards its end and Trigun and Cowboy Bebop being shown so many times that I could recite the dialogue without watching it continuously on TiVO, It's good to see they are finally bringing some fresh faces in for the Fall. I was aware they had picked up Full Metal Alchemist for the Action Lineup, but was a little shocked to find out Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will also be a part of the new roster. Last but not least on the list is Read Or Die. Before you get too excited and run to your friends screaming "ROD TV is coming to Action!",be warned this is the three-episode OVA. Still a good story, but done with too soon. R.O.D and S.A.C. premiere October 23rd . Two weeks later (Nov. 6th) F.M.A. is added.

Gakken brand GC Mospaeda toys
Yang_Neumann replied to Yang_Neumann's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
To answer all your responses, let me start by saying next time I PROMISE I will post anything that has nothing in common with the keywords "Hikaru" "Minmei" "Super-Dimensional Fortress" or "Valkyrie" it will be in the other section sorry. Secondly, they are the smaller toys. They claim that they are worth every penny they are asking. I'll let them keep on believing that while they collect dust until someone else is dumb enough to buy them for that price. On an unrelated note, the same hobby shop has just had someone bring in a couple of unassembled models for the Go-Bots model kit line from nearly two decades ago. Take a wild guess which ones For the record, YES! I walked out of the shop with both of the models for 9.99 each. -
I finally find two of the three Cyclones from this line in my area, but I'm a little wary. IYHO is $70 each too much to pay for these items? ps....this will be my first non-Robotech purchase as far as toy...I mean collectibles go. Thanks in advance for your input.

Let it be a lesson to you; go out and see the world. Live life to the fullest before you decide to get in a mecha and aid in the preservation of the human race.

I LOVE IT only because as a child I was so jealous of all these pre-teen characters in anime (Pidge and Keyop come to mind) who weren't old enough to have their drivers permit YET they could get behind the controls of a mecha and pilot it like it was riding a bike and have nerves of steel while battling the evil menace that was threatening the human race. Hideaki Anno singlehandedly turned envy into pity with his much darker, closer-to-reality (?) perspective of the genre, especially in the second half of EoE. I was slack-jawed from Shinji's breakdown on towards the end.

Check out the latest issue of Anime Insider for their mail-in offer for the S-Variant Alpha. SWEET!

Member #5 of the WTF club here. I knew it was going to end with more questions than answers from the moment I heard season two was being made exclusively for Cartoon Network (Anime Insider # due to the demand for some closure on the series and its characters. I missed the first half of the finale. Was whatever happened in the first twelve minutes of the final episode of any signifigance to the end, or would it have confused me more than I've already been in the past 20 hours.

Here (Nashville, TN) it's 5.50 for a matinee, 8.00 for an evening show and 11.00 for any feature shown on the IMAX screen.

I did a review for this on the previous MW message board about three months ago. It goes like this; The main character had a cornea transplant and ends up seeing dead people (both the recently passed and those on the verge of crossing over) shortly after regaining her sight. Everyone thinks she's going through some sort of breakdown except for her psychotherapist turned lover. After a crazy twist midway through the movie (as much as I want to say what happened, I can't spoil it for anyone who has not seen it yet) the two of them go looking for info on the donor and try to come to grips with her gift/curse. While that sabbatical does solve the midway twist, it couldn't prepare her or the viewer for the ending, which in my honest opinion one of the craziest deja vu scenarios I've ever seen played out on film. I gave it four out of five stars on all my reviews-worth a look. FYI: The film was directed by the Pang Brothers, not the same director as Ringu. It was filmed entirely in HK and Thailand. And yes, the film was recently picked up to be remade by Tom Cruise's newly formed production company. If Palm Pictures is releasing this film, go after their version-Other copies I've come across are poorly subbed (Panorama's version had too many sub hiccups).

Zillion on DVD starting Dec. 2003
Yang_Neumann replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I never knew about the custom weapons. I also never knew about Fantasy Zone being associated with the Zillion series. I know they make mention of the Zillion Weapons system being gone in the "Burning Knight" one shot, but don't explain how or why. Does the series cover this? -
You still haven't mentioned one of the biggest sci-fi cliches AND one of my biggest pet peeves; NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN THE BLACK GUY ALWAYS BITES IT!!!
-
AT LONG LAST IT IS COMING.....again.....for the very first time.....sorta. The best news is I can finally get rid of my battered copy of "Warriors of the Wind" or give it to one of my sons. I wish my eight year old would come off that copy of Robotech II: the Sentinels that I gave him by mistake last year.

Zillion on DVD starting Dec. 2003
Yang_Neumann replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
31 eps. instead of five? Toys and a game licensed by SEGA? An alien with a chopped off horn? What is going on? I did not know about any of this and Zillion was one of the first series I bought when I started collecting 10 1/2 years ago (Damn, I'm old). Do the 31 eps. follow the storyline found in the comics? I'm also curious to see if "Burning Knight" will be included in the set. This is one series I would LOVE to see redistributed in the States. DID YOU HEAR ME MACEK? BRING BACK ZILLION! YANG HAS SPOKEN! ps Lily C.A.T. and the original Silent Mobius one-shot would be nice too hint hint -
Saw it on E! Thurs. night and just saw it on the big screen a couple of hours ago before "The Rundown". I WAS RIGHT!!!....SORTA Just the few lines mentioned about Neo's predicament is enough to shut me up! And what about the conversation/ultimatum between Neo and you-know who/what?

From yangnewman on the old board to Yang_Neumann on the new one- simple enough.

Tech TV's Martin Sargent coming to Nashville
Yang_Neumann posted a topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just heard through the grapevine that Martin Sargent, former co-host to Leo Laporte on Tech TV's "The Screen Savers" and host of its outrageous nightly talk show "Unscrewed" will be coming to Nashville on September 27th. For you pioneers who live in or near the Nashville area, he'll be at Green Hills Mall from 1PM to 3PM. I've got to meet him just to get his honest opinion on the infamous "Man-Faye", who just recently graced(?) his show with (place gender here) presence. -
Nausicaa an 8.5 out of 10? My fave of the Ghibli lineup. If you want to make it a triple feature show that one followed by Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust immediately followed by Perfect Blue. The "Gingers" will love you for it.

Thank you Omega. All you w1pe0ut haters out there better recognize! W1pe0ut and Philosoma were the first games I ever played on the PSX. XL and its upgrade for N64 are my favorites from the series. If only XL supported the analog stick(s) it would've made the experience complete.

Where did you hear that? I want to know if it's safe to get excited for that Megaman X collection... Game Informer issue 126, "The Good, Bad & Ugly" section. The two volume Mega Man Collection is mentioned in the "Loose Talk" section. The two titles they were most hyped over were the MM Chess (Jap) and the little-known MM Soccer (Released in US but more or less overlooked by all but the hardcore MM/RM fans).

Kill Bill good, Cabin Fever bad...
Yang_Neumann replied to JKeats's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I swear they should hire the guy who was sitting behind me to do the commentary on the DVD. Look for it to own on video and DVD next month people!!!! -
The original for the Super Famicom WILL definitely be hitting Stateside in the form of the translated version of the PSX title. Also in the process of being translated for a US release on the PS One is Secret of Mana 2
-
The set will be split up into two collections. the first will include the first 8 games, while the second will have the "X" lineup. And forget that Mega Drive Collection. I'll finally get to play Mega Man Chess!!!! It's supposedly featured on one of the collections. Joy On a somber note, Capcom has pulled the plug on Read Dead Revolver for the PS2, Capcom All Stars for the arcade, and Dead Phoenix for the GC. The latest buzz is that RDR may be picked up by Rockstar Games.

What is Otogi and Disgeae? Oh and is anyone playing with the Logitech wheel? Impressions? Otogi is an Xbox game made by the same ppl who did Armored Core. You are basically this demon brought back to life... and you have to go through levels in a tone down Dynasty Warriors type game. Everything is destroyable... and you can throw enemies through houses and what nots. Disgaea is this really cool anime style strategy RPG. It has this really deep Final Fantasy Tactics style job system.... and the ability to level up to level 10000. Otogi is an Xbox game and Disgaea is a PS2 game. Doesn't Otogi use a simplified engine similar to GunValkyrie?

Kill Bill good, Cabin Fever bad...
Yang_Neumann replied to JKeats's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That flew right over my head. I am not planning to see CF, can you explain it a bit even if it meant spoiling the movie? SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!! Near the beginning of the movie the sucke--err, I mean kids are picking up their supplies from this run down store and are looking at different items (soda bottles, fox piss, etc.) and are asking what they are for. When one of them decides to ask what the gun behind the counter was for, the storekeeper replied "Oh, that's for the Ni**ers". Me being a black man I was offended by this comment. Then again it doesn't take a lot to offend me. I was offended by the sex scenes in "Monsters Ball". No, wait a minute. I wasn't offended, I was just player hatin' (Damn that Billy Bob Thorton <_< ). Seriously though, by the time the movie is about to end and the storekeeper is outside talking to a couple of sherrif's deputies making a purchase at the lemonade stand outside the store, here come a couple of black guys and their girl walking down the street towards the store. The storekeeper nearly trips over himself trying to get into the store before they get up to the door and goes behind the counter and grabs the gun. He turns around just in time to say "Here you go" and hands the gun to the girl and tells them "Always glad to be of service to you, my ni**as" and gives them all a good old soul shake. Turns out the gun was something they had ordered. So the movie ends with the black guys, their girl, the deputies and the storekeeper sitting on the porch of the store singing "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" Why did I bother putting spoiler alert at be beginning of this post? You couldn't pay me enough to see this movie again. Just imagine yourself walking out of the theater and saying to your wife/girlfriend/female associate who has put you in your place(Same as wife, just not legally binding) and imitating her in your most feminine voice "I don't wanna see Jeepers Creepers 2 or Once Upon a Time in Mexico. This movie's supposed to be way better" and you'll know how I ended my Friday night with my wife. I've already been chewed out once before on the forums for poking fun at Peter Jackson, but I have to say here and now that I should've known there was something up when there were no critics reviews posted in the commercials, but the movie was being hailed as "one of the greatest horror films of all time" says Peter Jackson. -
The only thing that would make my GX-perience even better is finding an arcade that has AX Anyone else had luck x-fering AX data to their memory card?
