Personally I think the way they broadcast anime is flawed... I would rather see series air for 13 weeks, have a 13 week brake and than conclude with its final 13... similar to how American tv shows have their mid season brakes for Heroes and the like. And don't get me started on the filler crap like Naruto, Bleach and what got Rurouni Kenshin canceled... Even GITS SAC which had 2 episodes a month and had about 10 episodes animated prior to the first episode airing had dips in aniamtion later on... And yes Xebec are redrawing nipples for the dvd release of To Love Ru... lol just like how the manga volumes have nipples while the chapters in WSJ do not.

It's set for 25 episodes atm... first dvd volume is 1 episode and the other 8 are 3 episodes each... 8x3 = 24 + 1 = 25! Sheryl did the 1, 2, 3, 4 Minmei foot tap from the end of DYRL before the OP in episode 6... as for Zero homages... expect some soon...

3D CG teams are obviously different from 2d teams people... Noein had some episodes that were completely different from everything else.. episodes 2 and 7 come to mind... but everything else was a common theme but the designs where inconsistent.. personally I'm sick of people saying the animation in Noein sucks or is low budget.. Noein has stellar animation... it just that Satelight values movement over consistency more compared to say KyoAni. People have to remember that Satelight is the company that gave Utsunomiya almost an entire episode of Aquarion... Also you're free to feel that To Love Ru and Golgo 13 are more consistent.. but I'll take Frontier's animation over them any day of the week... the only episode that is around their level is episode 6... the rough sketchy style of 4 is far superior to anything from those shows. Also for the people who were whining about Frontier 6 how did you react to RahXephon 21 and Gurren Lagann 04? Scenes like that are why me and eugimon are saying episode 4 is good, seriously people what's easier to do for the dvd release? 1/ Redraw a crappy looking glass or 2/ Redo a folding the paper plane animation and make it smooth as possible. It's like people have never heard of scenes being redrawn for DVD.... Eureka Seven which is the answer Duke Clueless gave when someone said no tv series can compare to an OVA like Zero had placeholder special effects in the last tv episode.... it got fixed for the dvd... not to mention it's 3d opening got fixed as well... The actual animation in 4 is better than most scenes from 1-3 & 5, it's the art you have a problem with... it's intentional though.. look at Noein. Noein another show by Studio Satelight is full of episodes animated in that style, I wouldn't haveit any other way for that series.. episode 12 is amazing... and yes I remember some people were saying that the Naruto Vs Sasuke fight had bad animation... clueless/ignorant those people... look up what "sakuga" is please...

You're clueless, no diss but fact.

The 2d animation aside from episode 6 (which was outsourced to a Filipino company.. and it still wasn't as bad as say RahXephon 21...) has been consistently great, even in episode 4 which had very rough and inconsistent character designs the actual movement was still high quality. Anyone who considers this is average has no fing clue about what they are talking about.... average 2d animation does not animate stuff as well as Sheryl concert, Ranka's Nyan Nyan dance and movement through the forest, Alto's hair styling in episode 4, the amount of movement in the Nyan Nyan shop as Klan chases Michael, the movement of Sheryl and Alto as they embarrassingly brake apart hands after running onto the train in episode 5. Average is stuff like Amatsuki, To Love Ru & Kamen no Maid Guy... Frontier is far better than them though it's not in the same class as Seirei no Moribito and Soul Eater... but you can say the same for 99.5% of shows released this decade... The CG is probably the best looking CG used for a tv series, nothing else really comes close and only OVAs and movies beat this. The Diamond Crevesse/Don't Be Late cd single by May'n finished @ #3 this week selling 42,714 copies which is better than Trianglers opening week of 31,250. Speaking of Triangler it finished @ #6 for the second week in a row, it did 12,550 in its second week and 12886 in the third bringing it to a grand total of 56,686. Triangler is now the second highest selling cd single by Maaya since it just went past RahXephon's Hemisphere (her best OP imo) which sold 54,460 copies. Sheryl looks like that in episode 1...

What are people basing Sheryl being able to control/affect the Varja on? Now there's every chance that might actually happen but at this stage nothing points towards that. They were near Frontier before her concert started, they are attacking anything that heads in this direction as shown byt the remains of the Zentradi/Meltrandi fleet that Alto and Klan are fighting around in episode 4 and the attack on Galaxy in episode 6.

Last Spring... Episodes 8 of Gurren Lagann and Claymore...

Yes Ranka is 15 while Alto is 16 and Sheryl 17. Also this episode will probably be the biggest gap Sheryl has over Ranka for a while since I expect it to shift over to Ranka again soon to balance things.

Frontier is Aquarion with a budget... and no mention of Noein and Hellsing Ultimate when talking about Satelight makes me sad

The first season of Geass had some steep drops as well, ratings from 1/5 to 2/16 (second half of the season) were 1.7, 1.7, 2.9, 2.1, 2.4, 2.3 & 1.7. Keep in mind that ratings don't really matter for late night anime shows since it's more a payed advertisement for dvds and other merchandise. It's doing rather well in preorders for dvds and the cd singles are also selling well.

A lot of shows took a hit this week so it's not alone in that.. but I'm still lol @ how To Love Ru and Macross Frontier have outrated Geass 3 times out of 5 so far this season.

Much better than Triangler, hopefully the cd sales are just as strong... was #3 on todays daily chart and was #2 yesterday.. hopefully episode 6 can give it a push. It got leaked very early.. I really don't recall many other anime songs getting leaked early like with Triangler and this cd... happens a lot with hiphop cds and the like but anime... I can't recall.

Great episode, I asked in the episode 5 thread and you ignored me, if Frontier is average what do you call stuff like Golgo 13, To Love Ru and Amatsuki? Average is on par, Horrible is poo like the outsourced episodes of Kissdum, Frontier is nowhere near average and if you want to say that show why instead of just saying it over and over in an attempt to make it so. Is Episode 6 a dip in animation? Yes of course it is but the entire show over the course of 6 episodes it has had great 2d animation, is it on par with stuff like Production I.G's Seirei no Moribito and Studio Bones Soul Eater? No it isn't but it's far better than 95% of the shows we get so how the hell is it anywhere near average? A show that has high quality 2d scenes like Sheryl's concert, Ranka moving through the forest, Alto fixing his hair in episode 4, Sheryl and Alto getting on to the train (how many shows would bother to animate Sheryl as much in that scene?) is nowhere near average. You might have high standards but I'm leaning towards you being clueless since you replied Eureka Seven when someone said a tv show can't compare to an OVA like Macross Zero.

She took that chance because she felt it was a chance worth taking over slowly dying due to a lack of oxygen and she was right since there was no vacuum. What if Grace couldn't track Sheryl down and Alto talked Sheryl out of it? Alto's way would have ended with all 3 dying from a lack of oxygen. Sheryl opening the exit suits her character and her words inspired Alto later in that episode into thinking the same way.. Sheryl in the bunker, "Destiny is something you take ahold of!". Alto to Ozma in the hospital later that episode "I could never leave my destiny in the hands of another!".

Aside from having fold lag when has Sheryl whined? Ranka whined in 5 more than Sheryl has in the entire series so far.. as for Sheryl background.. you'll get some sooner than later. Anyway for this poll I'm surprised Klan is outdoing Ranka and I thought Cathy would have more than one vote.

I think this episode is a good indication of the true personalities of Sheryl and Ranka... also I bet Ranka flips out and/or goes emo this series around the 16-20 point. Take the insert song out during the end and Ranka would've had lost major points with a lot of people this episode. Sheryl is a diva but she's clearly more down to earth than Minmei ever was when she was a diva.

How do you know that Ranka had a humbler path than Sheryl? Did you see how Sheryl made herself into what she is today? I'll say more but I'll be going into spoilers... also what's stopping Ranka from being like Sheryl in 2 years time (she's 15 to Sheryls 17) or worse turn into a diva like Minmei?

They're actually pretty similar people, ignore the sexual tension, ignore the you treat me normally part the biggest bond in this episode is the why do we fly/sing part. They have a very similar outlook on things, see how Alto's words ("I could never leave my destiny in the hands of another!") in episode 3 were similar to Sheryl's ("Destiny is something you take ahold of!") in the bunker. It's just that Sheryl's where she wants to be already while Alto is on the way there. Next episode should increase their bond on multiple fronts.... and yes I agree that Sheryl is lonely and probably has no real friends aside from maybe Grace who can't act like her friend all the time since she's her manager as well. She's completely devoted herself to her work which is why she's in the position she at currently in the series, her drive/passion for music is massive.

I'll love to hear Information High or Idol Talk by Sheryl and Voices by Ranka.

If Frontier is average name these numerous shows that are better.. I better not read Code Geass (so much panning) or Gundam 00 (character animation is average) in your response... better be stuff like Seirei No Moribito and Dennu Coil.... Also why do people think episode 4 had bad animation? The movement (you know actual animation!) of the characters in that episode was actually pretty good it just had inconsistent character designs which seems to be a trademark of Studio Satelight, see Noein. Noein episode 12 has inconsistent character designs... but it's one of the most impressive animated tv episodes I've seen period.. that dock battle sequence is amazing. Below average is stuff like Golgo 13 and To Love Ru, average is something like Amatsuki and Wagaya no Oinari-sama, Macross Frontier is nowhere near average, anyone who thinks so needs to relearn what animation is in addition to being able to put things into perspective since if Frontier is average the only show that's above average this season is Soul Eater.

Been a massive Sheryl fan since Deculture..

Yeah that's one of the main reasons why I prefer the Sheryl and Alto pairing, I think their connection and bond has a better basis than Alto and Ranka. There are very similar people in a lot of ways Sheryl and Alto. It's also pretty tame compared to Kawamori's last tv series in Aquarion, orgasming every episode when the mechas form Aquarion anyone?
