Good call, I'd completely forgotten about that!!

You'll probably enjoy it at first, however as time goes on you'll probably expect some kind of change. I saw it when it first aired, not too long after Macross Plus came out. I keep expecting the series to shift from Fire Bomber to the military, and it never really did. I think what really turned me off was the length of the series, plus I expected the series to shift focus and it didn't. The best way is to watch it with no expectations, and don't listen to what the Mac 7 haters (I happen to be one) say about Basara; just enjoy!

WHA..you mean SHERYL is not going to make a comeback and save the day all by herself? You mean poor, childlike, underdeveloped, little Ranka is going to do this own her own? Miss Galaxy Fairy can't handle the Vajra by herself? Man this is going to come as a great disapointment to all those Sheryl fans!! I thought Sheryl could do anything after all "she is Sheryl Nome"(whatever that means). Personally, I hope Ranka does save the day without any help from Sheryl or the lame SMS. I hope they try to use Sheryl like they did Minmay with her singing on the bridge of the Battle 25, and it doesn't work! YES I AM raging against Sheryl!!! AND NO I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR HER ONE BIT!!!! Sheryl is just an Asuka wantabe the writers threw in so Macross F is could be "different" from the other series. Her attitude, her sickness, her depression, all reeks of Asuka AND I HATE EVANGELION!!! Now that Ranka is gone, we'll have several episodes of her and Alto growing closer (vomit!). I hope they end up together BECAUSE RANKA DESERVES BETTER THAN THAT BLOCKHEADED ALTO!!

I'm finshed with Macross Frontier!!!! Out of all the people they Could have killed, they choose the only REAL man in the group!! Now the only reason I got to watch is Ranka, and given the fact that @#$& Sheryl slapped her ( I sure hope she dies for that!!!) means that she going down and Sheryl is making her return to the top. I have no desire to see Sheryl do a Minmay number on the Battle 25; if Ranka is not going to pull this off ALONE, then I perfer not to see a duet which is apparently what the writers have in mind! P.S. I got a bad feeling about Nasase!

It's because Ranka is not as sexy as sheryl. If Ranka was built like Sheryl and Sheryl was built Ranka, then all the hatred would be directed to Sheryl. Personally, I never liked Sheryl and still don't but not because of her body! Alot of the hatred going Ranka's way is do to the fact, that many male viewers (by putting themselves in Alto's position) would prefer to be with Sheryl than Ranka. Their constant bashing of Ranka, and praise of Sheryl dispite the fact that Ranka has done more for the fleet than Sheryl ever has. Putting on some concerts, doing some comercials, running around chasing panties at a school, and everything else Sheryl has done, can not compare to the times Ranka has place her like in danger in order to save the life of others! And please don't hand me the "she did it for selfish reasons" argument. Why shouldn't she have reasons for doing it, her life is on the line!! Like like Ranka and always will ( unless she "merges" with Sheryl as it has been suggested) and as far as Sheryl goes I say LET HER HAVE ALTO, PLEASE!!!!

I've got bad news for you; neither will die. As a matter of fact, all this hype about Sheryl is just that: HYPE! She is not going to die nor any of the main characters. Macross F seems to be following Macross 7 as far as killing off the main players. For those of you who saw Macross 7, did you ever really think some bad was going to happen to Fire Bomber? Did they ever give you the impression that Basara was going to get shot down or that Fire Bomber wasn't going to save the day? At this point in the series, I don't think we have to worry about the main players being killed off; unless the writers are trying to give us false security after which they (like in Zeta Gundam) kill off most of the cast.

NO WAY!!! Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay had better be there; alive and well!!!

That's probably the reason why I don't like Sheryl; she reminds me too much of Asuka!!!

I would not complain about the new opening if they would put more into combat scenes and not re-use the same footage over and over. However given the fact that we've seen Alto shoot the same missles again and again, then yes I would complain about the new OP; not that it's bad, just that there are other areas that NEED the attention!

Please explain WHY Bobby was utterly amazing in this episode? I mean what did he do this episode that he has not done in others: acts like a girl, then at one moment growls like a man. No, he does not NEED any more screen time!!

It's not a "stage" per say but rather a giant screen used by the bridge crew for information. It''s being used as a stage just like in DYRL. In the final battle, Minmay sang on the "stage" while the battle raged all around her.

First, on the opening I kinda have a "feeling" that this was a one time deal for this episode, and that the new opening is comming next week; but I do agree that the new OP is not what I expected. Second, when you speak of the not so positive feedback from Macross7, I believe you are confusing what a number of viewers (myself included) here in the US feel about Macross7. Macoss 7 was popular in Japan, and probably would have done well in the US give the Macross name; but there are those of us who didn't like it. As far as feedback from the US viewers of Macross 7, I don't think Kawamori got any (at least any that I'm aware of) because Mac7 has not been released in the US. Third, Kawamori wants to make each Macross different, but that does not mean he can refer to past series. Heck, he's done it in every Macross series he's every made. Finally, I dont think people were "hoping" for Ozma to die, they just theorized he would. As far as what's left of the story, I dont know but, I don't think Alto going to be Skull Leader.

P.S. I forgot to mention... I even enjoyed the Fire Bomber music in this episode!!!!

Just finished watching episode 17 and it was all good! Hope there weren't too many people who thought Ozma was going to die this episode, even though they tried their best to make us think that; that seems to be the staple of this series. Even though I still don't like Ozma I was glad he did not die, especially like Roy. That would have just been lame, even though it would have paid homage to the original Macross. I was glad to see Ranka have her first concert, and no I don't feel bad that Sheryl has been pushed to the background. It's obvious by the end of the episode that she will confront Grace about the pills, however given next week's trailer, I don't think miss "I am Sheryl" is going to come out on top. Oh, yes give a round of cheers for Nasase who is moving up in the world!! Happy to see that she'll be designing Ranka"s outfits?? and keeping an eye out for her. I know, I know... she's being used by Grace, but it's nice to see her advance anyway.

Somebody explain something to me, please. If the VF-25's have barriers that can shield them, then why doesn't the Macross Quarter and other ships in the fleet have them?

I Agree completely, there should be some story that officially ends the original characters story. Having them lost in the center of the galaxy is just weak!!
