No offense to the owner(s)... but this is some real cheap sh1t for a king's ransom. Why can't Yamato at least do something for this like what they did for the Stealth Combo Pack??? From the time this was announced on the Macross Chronicle until now, they should have more than enough time to come up with something decent to make this offering more attractive. Ah well, this thread's review is too late and won't prevent people from getting it. The other people who ordered it are probably unwrapping it or have their shipped to them. On a positive note, at least this weathered valk will not devalue the old 1/48 DYRL VF1S Hikaru.

I just got mine... No QC problems or anything noteworthy other than a small design improvement that allows its back fins' hinges to slide out so when you fold it down, they don't graze each other... don't know why they improve it only now since there weren't much complains on that area. I like the TV head. I have always liked the DYRL 1A head design and I think they did a good job with this "DYRLed" TV 1A head. I'm curious with corrugated material they use for the current packaging... isn't it a step down from their usual over-boxing with flapover window, since corrugated material is so... cheap... and this is suppose to be an exclusive limited edition release. And corrugated material dents more easily. All in all, the TV Max VF1A is just an overhyped and overpriced piece that could have done just as well for Yamato as a normal release.

No navel gazing with my Beagle... although that would be a small problem compared to its other shortcomings. -
Well, if you're looking for quality anime with bikes in it, you won't be disappointed with it. Only downside is they can't transform.
-
Check out Venus Wars. It's not a really obscure anime, so I don't know why it can never be the first show that comes to mind everytime a bike related anime is requested. It's got bikes, tanks, bike chicks, tank vs bike goodness. It's nothing fantastic either... but it just might scratch that itch! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_Wars

Not saying that there is need to smack anyone here... there has been word going around that the world economy is going to get very very bad... we're not talking about a recession where there is a probability that half of the people on this board here will be laid off; but a possibility of depression, that all of us will be waiting at soup lines... so, why feed the madness that Yamato will certainly take special notice of? I want this SDF 1 bad too... but if history of Yamato's pricing is any lesson to be learnt, it's better to wait it out.

That is very cool! They should get Konami to make one for Mospeada and sell them. -
I also remembered that toys like these don't necessary cost this expensive upon release... they increase in price on later releases as their quality is appreciated or not. I can accept that prices now are adjusted to inflation but on the other hand, we as collectors generally are are not helping to make this hobby affordable for ourselves in cases like this.

So they say if you pull stuff out of thin air and believe it hard enough, it becomes a reality. What some of you were projecting on this SDF1's worth a few pages back is becoming a reality more or less...$500+ USD thereabouts huh... I'll have to see if I can believe it'll will worth that kind of money eventually. Someone mentioned that buying one of these might help some Chinese factory girl from a downtrodden family from being raped repeatedly... wow!... sigh, better her than me. At least in a sick, twisted way, she might learn to enjoy it.

Hallo, my name is Ley. I have holes on my pants. Take a good look at my crotch. You might see little Inbits inside! I can probably get 2 masterpiece Grimlocks for the price of a Beagle with no improvements. Oh well, I can always hunt for a cheaper one somewhere. -
Breast Missiles FTW!

I didn't get the Revoltech Yoko... there is something about her sculpt that I didn't quite like enough. I got the Konami MMS version and while she's quite fiddly to pose and her hands are too soft to hold her rifle, I like her face sculpt better. She has rubber boobs as well!
-
Good news. I personally prefer this over Basquat. Let's hope they maintain all the fanservice for this one too.
-
It's a good thing that they are finally making their own DYRL SDF1. I would get one if the price is not expensive and the general user reviews say it's breakage free. On the $500-600USD speculative price tag, I wish that collectors here wouldn't throw guesstimate prices like that so much... because maybe Yamato is not all that ambitious about the pricing, but upon reading up here, they change their minds.

Beagle Ride Armor issues and suggestion thread
mr.chogokin replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The problem is your connector is split a little too faraway to lock the seat securely. There is a plastic part inside the gas tank that can be sanded down to solve that problem... but I have issues with taking apart such an expensive toy and not screw-up the fix in the process. -

Yeah the show is not perfect but it did show a lot of promise in the beginning and the middle. The Legiosses and Treads were to be found at certain abandoned military basses because the army has been sending their people and machines to reoccupy earth all along, albeit with little success. What was shown though was Stig's group putting them to use and hiding them until they are needed again... so it's not that all far-fetched to imagine the trouble it took them to move all that massive equipment around with all the HBT-sensitive Inbits flying everywhere. -
Beagle Ride Armor issues and suggestion thread

I would like to request that Beagle do away with the cloth entirely, if a better cloth option is not applicable to them. In turn, just make the figure new arms and tights sculpts in plastic. Don't get me wrong though, I like the realism of cloth, but the design given by Beagle is just working against their best intention. -

If they do that wouldn't the bigger hbt signals of the Legioss & Tread attract every Inbit on the planet? They wouldn't last minutes. That's what happened to Stig's group as they attempt to enter earth. Travelling on the Mospeadas make sense because of the lower signal and they disappear completely everytime the engine is turned off. On the Beagle, I really hope some attempts are made to change their cloth material. My Stig's crotch seems to be afflicted by a full blown psoriasis.... his feet is having a early Christmas and it's snowing red flakes! -

I see. My Beagle heads seem to be sitting securely... the helmeted head can be turned left, right, up and down. And when I zoom him around in the armor mode, his head doesn't drop forward. -

Hm, looks like you guys are getting the same crap cloth material. Kirick, seeing that you've placed him on the riding pose, do you notice any pvc layer breakage or tearing at the crotch seams? -
Um, his chest plate is a little too bare don't you think? Where are all the panel lines on his chest? I'm so not used to seeing a vf1 without the obligatory panel lines on his chest. It's like suddenly waking up and finding that your chest hairs all missing.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
mr.chogokin replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Guys, I just took my SS Goku out... I gotta say, thumbs up! Everything from top down to me is excellent, although if you're a discerning collector who mind that certain material shouldn't be used for a collector's item, SS Goku's chest and shoulder area is made of a rubbery... er.. rubber? I mentioned rubber because in place of it, Medicom would usually use pvc. Still, it's a good piece imo. His clothing especially is well-made and sewn at places so the folds and creases it makes, resemble how Akira Toriyama drew his clothing in DBZ. One more minor complaint though is how his paint and general color would look a little too bright and lacking in secondary tones to bring out more details when compared to the normal Goku... that actually depends on how you perceive the SS Goku. On one hand, yeah I do find the details lacking, but on the other hand, he is portrayed as in the midst of a power-up on the box, and he tends to look that way most of the time in the anime, so there you go. A damn good piece of SS Goku to have. I expect a Battle-worn SS Goku next please, you hear Medicom?
