Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!
mr.chogokin replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
After looking at my copy, I don't think that dismantling the parts just to fix the cloth tear is a recommended idea... also, I don't think it's the cloth, but the pvc layer of the cloth that's tearing. A better quality pvc cloth shouldn't be tearing like this! Looking at mine, the tear seem to be made worse when you put stig on a riding mode. So try not to spread his legs or do an extreme a stance. -

Actually, I bought it before I decided I would hate it. The other thread to Beagle for realistic fixes was what I stumbled upon after my Beagle pre-order is shipped. Still, I don't know... I can get it changed to a better copy. I really want to believe what you said about it being the best ride armor I ever touched. Wish me luck! -

Okay just got my Beagle. I have 2 major complaints:- 1) Assembly of the Bike At first impression, the plastic feels bare as well as hollow. The general assembly of the bike is not very well done... Both halves of Stig's right arm guard are pinching on the red cloth and there is no way I can find a way to fix. The two halves of the gas tank is splitting at the seams near the seat and the seat cannot lock on tightly to it. Plastic halves of the forks at the front wheel and back are also splitting lightly at the seams. 2) Cloth material The cloth material quality is the worst kind of PVC cloth the red paint is already chipping and flaking on mine at some areas. They remind me of the PVC material that Toycom used to make clothing for the 1st GITS 1/6 Matoko Kusanagi figure... and that material has long melted and peeled it's pvc layer off. That's it! I not even gonna transform it to find out if there are more bad news. I'll take it back to my retailer for a better copy or a refund. Also, this is just a gut feeling... but what I take away from the whole product the moment I open the box is, Beagle is just Yamato with a different name. I would like that their involvement was just limited to the packaging, but unfortunately for me, the products feels like it's contracted to Yamato to make, or Beagle are using the same factory that Yamato used. Eitherway, I'm don't care. My future purchases with Beagle if there is ever any, will be based on offer bin prices or deep discounts. -

Atomski, why did you remove your video. I need to loop it till the real Beagle comes, otherwise I'll go mad. Put it back please. -
I really wish they had like casted the hinges in metal. That would be ultra sweet. A just material that does a beautiful design justice. They can even leave it unpainted to save cost... and metal prices have dropped a lot now.

Yeah, the CDX video review is excellent. The transformation isn't too messy even. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will be one heck of a ride armor! -
This problem is not miniscule to me. I had wanted to get a version 2 1/60 VF1 for the longest time now but was not confident until I read up on improvements made to this hinge problem... what surprises me instead is how you guys are actually okay with the breakage. So I guess I won't be buying any for the foreseeable future.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
mr.chogokin replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
What I heard from my regular hobby shop, HTs are making 2 runs of the MKIII. 1st run is sold out. If your preorder was pushed back I think you will get it on the 2nd run which will be march. -

Okay, I just got my MkIII, I don't don't know what the toydaily's complaints are but I think Ironman rocks. The overall sculpt especially RDJ's face, the paint job to the excellent unobtrusive placement of the tiny led switches are well made. Poseablility is good and the figure is nice and tight with no unwanted floppiness. HT really did a good job on this. What I dislike though are, the pvc material on the IM's abdomen (for better poses) and the heavy over-boxing with gatefold flaps. Buy, buy, buy! -

Yeah, I'm unable to appreciate the improvements made by Yamato on its future products because by then my money is already spent. So looks like I got to read up reviews and not preorder so much based on the attractive pictures... and hope that I can still get one when the toy turns out to be really excellent. -

Oh, I know about the replacement parts offered by Yamato. I also know about the so-called improvements Yamato made for the later runs up till the ProtoGarland... The problem with the replacement parts is the shipping I have to pay to get it. Also, my Army Garland has an inner part in the right arm that is broken out of box which I tried to fix, but end up creating some stress mark because Yamato glued the plastic biceps covering it. The left knee guard on it doesn't work as well as the right knee guard... I can't fix that because of the glued parts also. My Factory Garland's right feet part pops out, and separates completely from the leg during transformation. When I tried to fix it back, I realize that I should tighten the ankle screw a little bit so the pressure will allow the feet part to hold better to the leg... But I can't because when I did, I discovered that the plastic ankle screw hole has worn off and the screw can't grip any tighter. My least problematic ProtoGarland came with a broken handle. And all the replacement parts above need to be paid for since I'm not in the US or Japan. I can't get no satisfaction at all! So yeah, I hope to death that Beagle does not follow Yamato's approach... I don't mention Toynami because my experience with them is limited... although their Voltron is good stuff but if everything as I heard about Toynami is truly crap, mentioning them is pointless. There is a serious need to have a company that guys like Yamato can learn from. If Beagle does become like Yamato, this will be the last product I'll buy from them. -

Okay please stop comparing Beagle to Yamato... please. If history and their practice of listening to customers for making better products really worked out well for everyone, Yamato has been everywhere and nowhere. And I hope Yamato's involvement with Beagle stops dead at the packaging. -

I think you need to appreciate that function and flaw are different issues. The function of the Beagle, I get. The flaws of the Beagle, I don't. It's just as simple as that. -

Guys don't get me wrong on this but the issues on the other thread deals mainly with tightness of joints, parts that ought to lock properly, cloth material that shouldn't tear or run out of the armor, targeting scope that doesn't fall, smaller box... etc... sound very much like unwanted problems that shouldn't exist with a little common sense, no? What I find outrageous is that, instead doing away with those problems in the first place, they are like asking us on whether we would like to do away with those problems now... after we bought them. Make any sense? -

I don't have a lot of Yamato's toys, but I have enough to know that it's one thing to look for advice from your customers for genuine improvement, but on the other hand, it's not putting themselves in the shoes of the customers to anticipate problems, and ultimately sell a well-thought out product that will not waste the customers' time and money. The only thing that deserve applause here is how positive you still are, after buying such an expensive toy with those obvious problems... I hope I can be as positive when I encounter those problems. I'm praying hard that I'm just being paranoid for no reason. lol! -

Okay sorry about that. It's just gives me crazy thoughts to read up that many issues with such an expensive toy; one that I have yet to receive at that. And to ask advice from people who buy these things... outrageous... I mean, who would be the best people to know ways to improve the ride armor inside out, collectors like us or the makers themselves? I bought the Beagle with the confidence that it will succeed the Gakken, but reading those feedbacks in the other thread... -

I think it's got more to do with the limitation manufacturers face when making the plastic trays to protect the goods. They should've used styrofoam like the Bandai SOC cuz it's simply stupid that the Beagle is smaller than the Gakken but its box is so much bigger than its predecessor's. But it's okay as long as the product itself is well-made. -
I prefer moe' wrapped around with the sailor outfit. I get offended when they do it with the macho VF1. Well, it's a good thing they stopped with the angelbird... just think of the horror if they didn't!!

In order not to jinx the yet to be released Beagle. Let's not put its name and Yamato in the same sentence with words like qc, plastic, abs or pom. Tq! -

Argh! Why didn't they make it bigger than the Gakken????? -
Interesting. But I don't like the mecha design from the get go, and the so-called bikes are not even variable. You just pilot the mecha like you're riding the bike ala Dead Heat (anime bikes book pg 57). And mecha designwise, I like the ones in Dead heat better. Wahahaha! I might check it out if the story and overall show gets good reviews.
