It's an excellent Zentradi/Meltrandi design by Miyatake Kazutaka...

    Destroids are supposed to look ugly, like most real world tanks do these days... I find the Macross II destroid designs great and very very cool looking. In fact, I'm convinced the Cheyenne and Cheyenne II designs were influenced by them...

    Well, since the Daedalus attack is made with one of the "hands" of a Macross type space fortress... And since mass produced versions of the SDF-1 "Macross" (like the SDFN-4 "Global") had ARMD carriers as hands... I think there could be a variation of the Daedalus attack where the ARMD carrier is launched from the space fortress arm while in "Storm attacker" mode... WHY NOT?

    Holy... Xenophilia in a James Cameron film? Must see...!!! Well... jokes aside... I liked Avatar, but still can't understand how so many people think is the best Science Fiction ever made. It was good, but not that super duper good... The Na'Vi looked fake as hell... Btw... I hope they include Michael Biehn in any of the sequels...
