Homeless anonymous slum girl Sheryl kinda looks like Newt... I also believe that the instrumental themes from the soundtrack (specially the Vajra theme and the Frontier 2059 theme) have lots of influences from the Aliens soundtrack by James Horner...

I find very fascinating and interesting the comparisons between elements of Battlestar Galactica and Macross... Since is pretty obvious that the original SDF Macross (1982) took lots of technological elements from Battlestar Galactica (1978). The new re-imagined BSG (2004) was in turn inspired by both the orginal BSG and SDF Macross... And now in 2008, Macross Frontier seems to have lots of elements from the new re-imagined BSG and the original SDF Macross...

I'm very very dissapointed by the fact that soo many ppl haven't even watched Southern Cross either by merely watching some designs and not liking them and/or by derogatory comments made by them trolls... Actually is a good anime sci-fi series... Is not as great as Macross, but it is not that bad either... I highly recommend u watch it entirely so you can make up your mind. Is only 23 episodes long!!! (And waaay better than most crap out there in the tube these days) Here u can get both Mospeada and Southern Cross (among many many other things)... Enjoy!!!
