I dunno, SkyFire's is a pretty tough act to follow.

Yay, another Macross Top Gun Video...let me contain my joy... Sorry to be cynical, but there are at least three (probably more) videos that use Highway to the Danger Zone, and two that use just the Anthem. Not to mention one from Mac Plus that used Take My Breath Away. REcently SkyFire AMV put out their excellent rendition using both anthem and Highway. Excellent video and a tough act to follow. That being said, its not the best Macross one around either. Some of the best AMVs are ones that use songs you wouldnt imagine being set to the series in the traditional sense, but when you think about, actually are a perfect match. Case in point being the infamous Senshi on Springer (Sailor Moon to Jerry Springer by Wierd Al) or FLCL to NIN's Perfect Drug. Neither of these really scream make me into this video, but upon completion they fit perfectly. The finest example of this in my opinion is the Macross video to One Day More. I never really thought of Macross when I heard this song, however, after watching the video, it seems to fit quite well. I don't mean to stifle your creativity. I mean you can certainly do a Top Gun video, but unless its really really good, or is done in an unusual or unique manner (such as SkyFires's), it's just gonna be another video in the box, like Linkinball Z Videos.

Cyber Formula GPX, the music.
maxjenius81 replied to DestroidsRage's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Dude, im all about CFGPX. And Yes, I like G-Grip, but I prefer Lazy which does stuff for SIN. Though I'll Come is a great intro song for a fantastic series. -
A question about VF-1s quantity in Macross
maxjenius81 replied to Rand's topic in Movies and TV Series
The VF-1 complement on SDF-01 on launch day was 144 -1A, 36 -1J, and 9 -1S as well as 23 -1Ds. Fokker and Hikaru didnt have to share, but it was simply an effecient use of resources. Ony a ship with limited fighters, why waste a fighter that is perfectly flyable aside from a few small bullet holes. However, the impact on moral....well...probably not to good. I wouldnt want to fly in a fighter that someone else died in. -

Are all VF-1 variants having the same performance
maxjenius81 replied to hellohikaru's topic in Movies and TV Series
I actually posted about a VF-1A vs a VF-1S a while back on RT.com for some 'best veritech' thread... The VF-1S wasnt THAT much better than the basic VF-1A. The basic -1A featured a pair of FF-2001 rated to 11,500 kg dry thrust, while the -1S had a pair of FF-2001D rated to 13,050 kg dry thrust. Only a 13% thrust increase while retaining the same # of vernier thrusters (18 low thrust and 4 high thrust. The weapons systems differ only in the addition of three anti-air lasers. Probably the single most advantageous difference between the -1S and the -1A is the electronic suite. Additional multi-phase arrays in the head of the -1S complement the main array expanding coverage to approx. 270 degrees, however, this is the same as seen on the -1J. THe -1A has a smaller field of only 180 degrees. Actually the limited supply as seen on the macross would indicate that one about 23 are VF-1S (actual VF-1 complement on SDF-01 on launch days was 144 -1A, 36 -1J, and 9 -1S as well as 23 -1Ds), not 1 in every 500-1000 (there were only 2500 VF-1s of all types built). As for performance data for the two types: Thrust to weight ratio: VF-1A: 1.24 VF-1S: 1.41 Atmospheric Speeds VF-1A@10,000m: Mach 5.4 VF-1S@10,000m: Mach 5.5 VF-1A@30,000m: Mach 7.74 VF-1S@30,000m: Mach 7.88 Overall the -1S isnt THAT much better than standard -1A aside from as someone pointed earlier, its Main Character Sheilds. Those help a lot. -

While we're on the topic of the DYRL game intro, what exactly is the plane in the background of this pic? -
Most of the good mod chips are served a cease and desist order from Sony a day or two after release (neo, messaiah etc.). So only a few people get their chips, the rest get refunds. Seriously a PS2 Import is ultimately easier. Its what I did. www.ncsx.com or www.buyrite1.net

And i require you to present the same as to why you should be millia

Probably not too long. I mean yeah no fold drives, but basic engine tech would still be far in advance of our modern tech. I imagine it could at least achieve double the speed, possibly faster. Remember it took Macross nine months or so to go from beyond Pluto to Earth.

No this wasnt a cosplay thread, this was a thread to get images for a planned mylene cosplay. The cosplay thread is actually over in Fan Works or further down the list in this forum.

I'm sorry man. That hurts big time. No shame though if the computer gets the job done its good enough for me.

Official SailorMoon live-action cast-list pics.
maxjenius81 replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah the costumes are just normal not exactly 100% accurate to the anime. However, I don't know many girls that would like to walk around in 100% accurate fukus let alone jump, kick, and sit. Overall the cast looks pretty cool and I'm looking forward to the series as unlike alot of anime live action adaptations, the original creator is involved so something has to go right? I remember rumors of a live action Sailor Moon movie helmed by none other than Gena Davis whose young daughter was a HUGE fan of the series. Cast rumors included Gena herself as Queen Beryl and Alicia Silverstone as either Moon or Venus among others that I can't recall. I think they even got as far as preliminary scripts. This wasn't a rumor, but something I think Davis was really looking into. P.S. Since she was born I'm pretty sure, unless there is something Abomz! wants to share? <_< -
True, but his Faye costume was well made

Yeah wasnt this a thread to get mylene reference pix. There is a cosplay general thread in this forum and in fan works

Hehe, I've got a cardboard cutout I picked up at otakon a few years back. This however, is a bit too far for me..

Macross And Xabungle Lock (Rock!)

I dunno, not being exactly the vision of perfection myself, I tend to be easy on people who themselves arent perfect such as Man Faye. Perhaps it wasnt the wisest costume to do for himself, but he had a blast. Actually he falls under D as he is most certainly quite famous now. Perhaps not for the best reasons, but he is famous. One of my favorite cosplayers is Sakura Will a TALL black man who dresses as Card Captor Sakura and has a blast doing it. Hes a great guy and we all have a lot of laughs at his expense, but its how he wants it.

Well what is the point of cosplay? Depends There are many types of cosplayers A.) People who do it simply for fun and as a hobby. These are the average cosplayer who may or may not have sewing talent and just do it at cons for themselves. The bulk of cosplayers are under this category. B.) People who do it for money. Some cosplayers have so much talent and skill that they actually profit from it usually in the form of comissions for lesser cosplayers who either do not have time or skill to make elaborate costumes. There is a fair bit of $$ in it if youre good. My friend made a Vash costume (coat and underclothing) for around 600 dollars. C.) People who do it to practice their craft. Be they actors or seamstresses some people do it for practice in a future career on stage or in entertainment making costumes. THeyve got the skill so they simply show it off to pad their resume. Example being a guy who made a Guyver costume and currently works in Hollywood as a make up effects artist. D.) People who do it for fame. Some people crave attention and cosplaying is a good way to get it. It used to be a better way as back in the day there were fewer cosplayers (Example Otakon 2000 I'd say about 25% cosplayed, Otakon 2003 id say well over 50%). Ive got some friends who get a LOT of attention from both fandom and from the general public at large from their skills. One of my friends made the cover of the LA Times in small blurb about Anime Expo 2002. Another person I know was on stage for the G-Phoria awards these year as Aerith from FFVII. As what you do as a cosplayer, well that to differs. Some people do it solo or with close friends and simply walk around the con in costume and get pictures taken. Others like myself and my girlfriend are part of larger group of people, in this case So Desu Ne Cosplay with over 40 members across the country. People like this usually also perform skits on stage and compete for awards and recognition within fandom. Some groups are really intense like Sailor Jamboree used to require a demo tape of your stuff. Others, like So Desu Ne, take anyone who applies under the assumption that they want to learn to get better. Again some groups are hardcore and others are more social. Hope that answers your question.

Though ALpha Gaiden does have that kick ass scenario (9 i think) which takes place in front of the Macross in which Macross is a stationary map object.

The VF-11's shoulders shuold be locked in place by the wings when they fold down to the back.
