FURIOUS OVER NEW CONAN (Conan the Barbarian remake)
Gundamhead replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, that's the feeling I have about it. I'll see it, but I'll wait for the DVD. -
Yeah that's me. This was a commission build that my customer backed out on. So...ebay it went.
-
Here was mine I finshed. I had just started another thread about it though. http://www.flickr.com/photos/19951055@N07/...57622869742986/

This was a great kit to do. It was built from the Hasagawa 1/48 YF-19 kit. It was fun. http://www.flickr.com/photos/19951055@N07/...57622869742986/

Don't forget to add the billy club/nightstick/cattle prod thingy.

1/72 Resin Launch Arm kit w/ Max VF-1A Super

This should work. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/thewildkingdom...460762377700763 -
The D doesn't have the notch so the lengthened nose cone still reaches the leg connection in battroid. On a A frame, a D nose is too long and the legs wouldn't reach the attachment points (hips joints). They'd be just a little too far from the fighter to battroid leg hydraulics. That's why a VF-1D is slightly taller than A-J-S in battroid.

The art is based off the custom model from the book, not the other way. That book was first and then the art made it 'official'. (Like how VFs used to have 3 hardpoints until Hasagawa models came along then all the art changed to 5 hardpoints.) It is similar to the Elint head, but noticably different like a D to a J are similar. The real problem is the standard A-S-J body with the D nose. It couldn't really transform to battroid on that airframe.
-
The way I understood it, was the VEFR was an offensive ECM platform, actively fighting the enemy with ECM weapons. The Elint was more passive in it's role like a AWACS in keeping comms and formations together. Kinda like one jamming the enemies missiles and radar while the other coordinates the attack. BTW, the VEFR does have a head under the dish similar to the Elint, but can't do FAST packs. That probably means it could fly in atmosphere. The VEFR is based from a VF-1A-J-S frame with a VF-1D nose, while the Elint is based from the Ostrich.

I had started work on a conversion kit about a year ago, but figured nobody'd be interested with the Elint readily available. There've been a few nice conversions done though.
-
All I see is black boxes with 'x' in them. The link to the Battroid Tread is cool. Nice work. That kit does need some reworking though if you plan to cast them. I'm in for one. What does the 'full armored' Tread look like? I got a buncha Mospeada references, and never heard of that.

Just a shameless plug and heads up. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/cfstore/ind...;Product_ID=779

Any rough timeline when I might need to come up with the cash for mine?

If you put decals over a flat paint, you have a risk of 'silvering'. The decals are supposed to go on a smooth coat of paint (flats are rough) so no silvering can occur. Unless you're putting a drop of Future under the decal, I don't see the point, or how it will help.
-
Hasagawa would also then have many complaints. People would break the hinges, and complain, and give Hasagawa a bad name. If you look closer at the customized Hasagawa tranformable kits, you will notice obvious hinges, loose parts, big gaps, and even sagging of the whole model. The other part you notice when you look at it is how incredibly fragile it is. I just wish Hasagawa would do Gerwalks myself.
-
If you don't want to airbrush, why not use a rattle can of clear for your final coat? And decals don't instantly fade, crack, or peel without a top coat. I've got kits I built in the 80's that have no clearcoats over the decals, and you'd never know it. The clear is to 'blend' the decals with the paints sheen. Sometimes you get lucky and the decal sheen is close to the paints'.

At least edit out the words 'recast' and 'Tanmen' from the topic title.

The only missiles they ever made before Hasagawa were the atmosheric missiles. You don't have to Ebay. (You know, the 3 per pylon bunch). The parts I used was of my own making. I mastered a resin set of weapons and super armor that let you convert any of Imai's (Bandai) 1/72 Variables into the Super/strike version, while still leaving it variable. I took some of those old missiles I had made and redid them for this Arm. So long explanation short, they're scratchbuilt.
-
Or you use PM.
-
The pair is scratchbuilt, and the boxes are Hasagawa. I re-used some missiles I had made for my old 1/72 Imai Variable Super/Strike VF-1 set. (Pre Hasagawa days). There's been a years old controversy about the smaller pairs not really being 'official', but pre hasagawa they were more or less accepted. There are a few shots of VF with considerabley smaller reactor bombs that appear to be mounted sharing a pylon. I don't believe there is lineart, or an official name, but the Ultimate 1/48 VF-1 includes them along with smaller box missiles too, so I guess I'm not the only fan of them left. On a similar tangent, I had also scratchbuilt the Fire Retardant missiles Max and Millia used. I'm not sure where they got to though. They are official though, there's lineart for them. I had an idea for a fire fighter VF, but got stumped on the gunpod. Then I was going to do a Max and Millia ready for take off 'armed' with them and date the stand Christmas Eve 20?? Rescue (I forget the year)

Nor has he done the 1/72 VF-1 Valkyrie booster...hint hint hint.

Oh that coulda been so mean. they'd throw X-actos at us for that though I think.
