  1. Now, I'm not a fan of the show, but I do think there were some things did impress me about it. -Macross 7 actually has my favorite Openings out of any anime. I LOVE Seventh Moon and the animation and visuals are pretty damn cool. Am I crazy or does the intro's style remind me of Macross Plus? I mean the wonderful animation and CG elements. (LOVE the beautiful opening shot of Basara walking as we zoom out to see City 7.) It seems like they spent more on that than the actual show. "Dynamite Explosion" is also a pretty badass intro. (part of me wishes it was the second Opening for the series instead of the OVA.) -Basara pilots one of the coolest looking Valkyries ever. Seeing the design itself made me want to see the show. -I love the clamshell designs of the City colonies and am glad they were retained on Macross Frontier. I also really like the design of Battle 7. (Battle Frontier seems to combine the styles of this and the original SDF Macross.) -Mylene. What a cutie. Veffidas ain't bad looking either. -They brought back Max and Millia.
  2. Seriously, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, though I heard the company is in a bit of trouble....... But thinpaks have been a godsend for making anime affordable. It's small enough for your collection and they all sell for very reasonable prices.
  3. I gotta say that while I don't mind all of the goofy stuff Macross 7 has pulled off, I think it just fails in the way it was executed. Had it not have a main character I wanted to punch in the face multiple times and story that practically sits flat on its butt till near the end, I would have liked it more. I still think the show could have balanced all the crazy elements along with the more traditional elements of Macross. G Gundam, while being the "oddball" of the Gundam series, proved you can be goofy as hell and still be an awesome and entertaining show. I also have a hard time accepting it as an official sequel to Macross. Thankfully, Frontier will wash out the bad taste of 7. I still wonder how much better Macross 7 would have been had Yasuhiro Imagawa directed it. I liked Macross II, while it wasn't fantastic, its still a bit more traditional even though its non canon.
  4. I just want to see what all the Macross fans thought of it. To me, it was a decent series. I'm kinda glad it was retconned from the series canon, but it was definetly watchable for me. At least it had a good soundtrack. (The Hush of 100 Million Years is a great song) Still, I also thought it felt a bit too much like they were copying the orignal at times. I still like it a bit more than Macross 7. (Sorry fans)
  5. Now that someone mentioned this, this is also my very first experience with Macross. (Even before seeing Robotech) My memory of this Dub is pretty much close to nonexistant, though I do remember it sparking my interest in anime. I remember this old TV station in my city that showed a lot of anime films and this was one of em. I remember returning home from school and catching this movie. Those were good times. I saw this movie one day at a Comic Book shop. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it.
  6. Well, since I'm new here, I wanna add my two cents, even though its pretty much what's been said in earlier posts. After seeing the first two episodes (which indeed were downright awesome) I have to say the Deculture version is better. Though there were a few scenes I liked in the Broadcast version, it felt a bit more rushed and choppy, and a couple of scenes were robbed of the awesome impact the Deculture version had. While the Broadcast version focused more on the characters, the Deculture version was much more suspenesful and emphasized the immense threat of the alien onslaught. If anything the broadcast version felt more like a clip show with new scenes added in. Anyways, I still love where this series is going so far. That awesome battle at the start of Episode 2 really made me cheer.
  7. Hello. I'm new to these forums and I thought this was a good place for an introduction. Like everyone else, I got into Macross through Robotech. I remember watching it when it was on Cartoon Network's Toonami and I really though it was great stuff. I also remember this (now non-existent) TV station that used to show all kinds of classic anime such as Locke the Superman, Dallos and Macross: Clash of the Bionoids (a.k.a. Do you Remember Love) Safe to say, the show and movie really sucked me in. I eventually discovered the Japanese version, and Macross became one of my all time favorite anime. It really has something for everyone. A great story, interesting universe, very memorable characters. Lots of cool mecha, mass destruction, breathtaking, intense action and tons of stuff blowing up for the boys. and lots of great drama and romance for the girls. It will always be one of my all time favorite anime titles. (Along with Giant Robo, which as you can guess is part of my screenname) My next Macross was Macross Plus (the movie version) and was absolutely amazed. Macross II was decent enough IMO, even though it isn't canon. I wasn't too fond of Macross 7 though. The original Do You Remember Love was very awesome. Macross Zero was entertaning, even though its ending really threw me for a loop. Now I'm following Macross Frontier, and its looking to be the Macross sequel I've been waiting for for a long time. The first episode (Deculture version) was absolutely breathtaking. And I have a good feeling this will be the series to put Macross back on top. Anyway, I've been visiting these forums for awhile as a guest and am glad to finally join.
