I wouldn't worry about these two - cause if I have my way, if Yamato doesn't release them in 1/48, I will... Yeah, and if they don't then hopefully Spiff will grace us with another VF-1D conversion kit like he did for the 1/60's. We need a begging emoticon.

Oooh, kawaii ne! Makes me think of the Regult that runs head long into the logo in the opening sequence of RT - Battlecry, and then shakes it's "head" as if to clear out the cobwebs.

Here's how it will most likely go down.... It looks as though we will be going with two designs.... Dangard Ace - For the character / art aficionados. Blaine 23 - For the Mech Heads. Once the designs are finalized, I will request high res scans of the pieces of artwork on CD or will request that they be uploaded to a server. Then Paul can get access to them so he can start tweaking the box designs. Dangard Ace and Blaine 23's designs will added to the page Paul created for us. He will add pre-order and payment information for the case of your choice. We should get at least 20 of the least popular design reserved in order to get the order going. The orders will be on an individual basis. That is to say that each person will be paying for the case of their choice plus shipping to themselves. This will not be a bulk order where they are all shipped to one person who then ships them to everyone else etc. Making the cases themselves is not that time consuming, it is getting the design down pat that is taking all this time. So, we still have to come to final consensus on the top image of Dangard Ace's design, and the Top and Spine images of Blaine 23's design. After that, it really is all downhill. Then, we get to do it all over again for the Mac Plus case

My Boyfriend is a Pilot (lauren goodnight version)
Mechamaniac replied to treatment's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't know, when I think about that, I think about that scene in the English dub of Mac Plus with Myung's friend... "My boyfriend is a pilot now....he's a pilot nooooooowwwww" Meh, keep the Japanese songs in Japanese. -
NICE. I am definitely getting one of these. Someone did a size comparison not too long ago with the Q Rau as compared to a 1/60 VF-1, and a 1/48 VF-1. Anyone have that pic?? Also, it will be interesting to see how the Millia pilot fig compares to the 1/60th VF-1 when someone gets one in hand.

Every time they re-animate we wind up with a new AU series. I say leave well enough alone, we don't need to Ted Turner everything. What he said.... I think I am the biggest proponent of not liking the original series because of it's animation quality. However, I really like the STORY, and that story sets the stage for every other UC Gundam show, therefore, 0079 is a great series. I am just partial to better animation, I enjoy watching better animation more, because in my own twisted little way, the better animation makes it seem more real to me. That is why I like 0083, 08th Team, and CCA. However, I also really like 0080, and the animation in that is just a little above crap level too, but the STORY rocks. There is no need to re-animate 0079. Hell, just watch SEED, the first few episodes have enough elements of 0079 to qualify as a partial redux anyway. SEED in my opinion is the best AU series to date, because it literally takes elements of just about every UC Gundam show, and rolls them all into elements of it's storyline. Unfortunately, aside from the Strike, the Gundam designs just suck. ALSO - Just a silly observation here... Have you ever noticed that in the UC Series, the Gundam is always the ultimate mobile suit, shrouded in mystery, and noone understands how they came to be blah blah?. That always strikes me as funny considering that the crux of 0079, 0080, and CCA revolved around the ultimate MS that the Feddies had, but at least 0079, and 0080 start off with the Feddies barely knowing what a MS is, while the Zeon have them by the truckloads. So, basically the Feddies decided to try out this whole MS thing, and just happened to build the INVINCIBLE one . They explained that away in CCA with Char leaking the psycommu frame material to AE at least, and I thought that was a great twist. Also funny here is that if you notice, all the invincible Gundams are always piloted by bumbling, unskilled pilots too (at least at first) while every Zeon pilot is an ace. Meanwhile, in AU series, everyone and their brother gets a Gundam! Hell, they even swap pink slips once in a while when they get tired of the Gundam they have.

I didn't credit you fer th'pic 'cause I forgot who I got it from.... I'm sorry. but anyways... Yes, yes! Patlabor 1/35 Mg hands should be recast (seeing as I can't find any to buy) Oh, I don't care about credit. I just thought it was funny to see a pic of my desk

Ahh, no, see how those saucer sections only have one nacelle attached?. That would be a Hermes/Saladin class ship. These were documented in the original Franz Josef Technical Manual released in 1975. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/saladin.jpg Off hand, if those Star Trek ships are abpit 1 - 1/5 inches long, they look like the old figures that they used to sell for game play with the old Star Fleet Battles strategy game from the early 80's. EDIT - looking again, that's definitely what they are.

Hey Dr. Clay, That pic you posted is of my old Hikaru 1A. I used a set of Patlabor 1/35 MG hands in place of the standard DYRL hands. They did work much better than the DYRL hands, while still having the squared off appearance that the TV style did not have.

AWESOME!! Thank the Hoary Froating Head for broadband internet!! Those look great, what did you use for panel lining???

If you're going to go around speculating on the faith of a character, then the criteria for determining that faith is the fundamental truths of that faith. I speak from the perspective of a Bible-carrying, Jesus-believing, Spirit-filled and Spirit led CHRISTIAN and I use that BIBLICAL definition of a CHRISTIAN to determine whether or not another person is TRULY CHRISTIAN(that is, 'truly' as defined by the Bible which, last time I checked was the ONLY TRUE MEASURE of what it means to be CHRISTIAN). If there is some other kind of Christian that is defined by something other than the Bible, I don't know about it. And, if you can't handle that there is truth that you don't want to accept then don't bring up matters of faith on an anime board. The whole purpose of discussion on this board is to share views and to learn from one another. If you don't want to learn that there are true Bible Christians, and then there are the rest of the world who hope that going by the name of Christian but living without the Bible truth they will somehow slip by and get into heaven, then don't ever get started in a religious topic. God Bless You! This thread has crossed the line of what is allowable subject matter. I myself have strong feelings regarding organised religion, but I don't argue the point here on a message board where political and religious discussion are openly disallowed. I wish this subject could get back on topic, but it's already served it's purpose anyways. Time to be locked. May Beer bless us all, every single one of us! Yeah, this topic became Lock Fodder the moment the bible started thumping, and Jeebus was shoved down all of our throats. Sorry, but that's coming from the point of view of a card carrying AGNOSTIC, bordering on PAGANISM. May the God and Goddess (or whatever's up there ) bless us all.

Man, I hope so. The one on HLJ's web site is way too light colored.

Arch Enemy Char's Gelgoog is OUT!
Mechamaniac replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
LOL, something wierd happened... I had the AA Gelgoog, and my MG Kampfer next to each other for scale, and my PG Zaku and MG Alex on the same shelf. All the Zeon figs were behind the Alex, which was a good couple of inches from the front of the shelf. Came in this morning to find the Alex on the floor!!. It has been standing in that postefor months with no problems (on a shelf full of Feddie suits). Only possible conclusion? - Those nasty Zeon kids pushed Alex off the shelf Hmm, maybe the toys really do come to life after I go to bed... -
Another reason for this is that they seem to be releasing only the newer shows...or at least, only the newer shows have done well. Let's face it, unless you are an old school Otaku, the original series looks like absolute crap, and the kids that got used to the pretty good animation in Wing will not be able to sit through the original series. Kids today just don't appreciate the old animation, and the obstacles they faced 25 years ago when they did all this stuff by HAND . They tried to show 0079 several times, but it never made a full run on CN. If they ran Zeta on CN, it would probably not do all that well because of the older animation style. ZZ would fare the same I'm afraid. In comparison though, 08th Team, and 0083 have made several successful runs as did Wing, and G Gundam. Why? - Because they are newer, and the animation is of better quality. Given this, I predict that SEED will be even bigger than Wing here since it is new and flashy. Also, the toys from Z and ZZ are sparse, and have no DX equivalents save for PG models which are far too expensive for the US Market. However, the 12" Strike HG Model from SEED feels ALOT like a DX toy when completed, and it is cheap, so I would not be surprised to see them develop a toy from that kit at all.

I'll never forget the first time I heard the sound of an A-10 Vulcan from some distance away. I literally stopped dead in my tracks and asked WTF was that??? It sounded like the croak of a 4 ton giant toad.

So, no new updates from anyone else??? Are we ready to vote on a final case design or two??

Arch Enemy Char's Gelgoog is OUT!
Mechamaniac replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't do toys, so I don't know this well, but isn't there already a Gouf Custom HY2M? I know I saw a prototype shot of it somewhere. I dunno if there's a Gouf Custom HY2M - the Gouf released under the HY2M line was a normal Gouf, not the custom - though, someone may have beat me to the punch with the Gouf Custom conversion - unless you are talking about the POS Gouf Custom conversion for the PG - which I own, and have tried mating to the Gouf HY2M - it just don't work. Besides being a crappy sculpt and casting job, the armor pieces are too small to work on the HY2M... Yup, what he said.... I have the PG Zaku, and the HY2M Gouf, and the Gouf is a good half inch taller than the Zaku. Even if that were a negligible difference, the proportions are different, IE, the calf sections are so much longer on the Gouf than on the Zaku, that there is no way to make it work. -

Arch Enemy Char's Gelgoog is OUT!
Mechamaniac replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, all in all, it really is a very solid, and nice toy. My major gripes with it are the color, and the lack of detailing that as Anubis said, was so damned good on the Tallgeese III, and the Wing Gundam, and even the RX-78 2. I think this one suffers from a bad color more than anything. In my pics, you can see that they did weather the thing, but only with a slightly darker shade of faggy pink, which as you can see only comes out under direct and very bright light, like the flash of my digicam. In short, it is a great toy, well worth the bucks, especially with all the accessories, but the paint job is lame, and IMHO, I shouldn't have to cannibalize old Zeon kits for a Zeon logo here and there... -
Arch Enemy Char's Gelgoog is OUT!
Mechamaniac replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
OK, pics now... No, the markings are not standard, they are leftover Stickers from a PG Zaku. But, I tried to do one where you can see most of the accessories, so here's the Gelgoog "loaded for bear" so to speak. And here's the back image... -
OK, here's the brief rundown...pics to follow... Where and how much Place - Target Price - $19.99 Size Toy height - 7.75 inches Actual height - 19.2 meters Resulting scale - 1/98 (ok close enough to 1/100) Materials, Finish & Detailing Materials - PVC of varying thickness. Color - Same coral pink color as the motorized Char's Zaku Detailing - Very little, some shading in certain parts. Finish - OK, some color inconsistencies in the light coral color. Panel lining is almost NIL, (except on thet hands) and there is very little weathering of any other type. There are clusters of thrusters under the rear armor plate, and under the calf armor plates as well. These look OK, and are painted in color to simulate flame coming out of them, but they are mounted on a single bar, and the joint does not support their weight, so in short, they cannot be moved much beyond where they hang. Also, the thrusters are not on individual ball joints, so they are frozen where they are. Durability & Poseability - The main durability problem that I see is with the waist joint. It has an internal joint that allows for some downward motion of the upper torso on either side. The problem with this is when you attach the shield to the left arm, it drags the left side of the body down as long as the shield is attached. I will attempt to open the body up and see if I can tighten the joint. Other than that, it seems as durable as the other Arch Enemy toys. Obviously, due to the large flared leg armors on the Zaku suits, you don't get the solid cast legs that the Gundams and the Tallgeese III had, but it's pretty solid overall. Poseability is OK. Legs - The ankles can rotate a full 360 degrees horizontally, and they have sufficient side to side movement as well. The tops of the thighs can only twist about 20 degrees outward due to the flaring on the hip armor. The knees are standard 90 degree backwards bending only. Shoulders, Arms, and Wrists - The shoulders are pretty much standard, they will rotate a full 360 degrees. The elbows are much the same as the knees, offering 90 degree forward bend only. There is no rotation at the elbow joints, but full 360 degree rotation at the tops of the arms under the shoulder joint, so you can achieve a nice cross the body pose with the rifle. Accessories Shield - Attaches to the left arm. The mounting point on the shield will rotate 360 degrees. There is also a spare shield attachment that stores the Beam Sword hilt, and mounts the shield on the back of the toy/ Spare hands - The standard hands are typical balled fists, but there are spare left and right hands that are molded open with extended trigger fingers that actually match the trigger position on the rifle. The open hands are bendable enough to allow for a grip in the barrel of the rifle etc. Twin Beam Sword - A little Darth Maul action here, the handle is independent of the blades which are swappable. You can have either the curved naginata style blades inserted into each end., or a single flared type blade in one end. The Beam Sword Hilt stores on an opening clip on the rear armor plate. Beam Rifle/Beam bazooka - What can you say, they're guns, one little, one big. One thing to note that is nice about the Beam Bazooka is that the pistol grip rotates downward about 45 degrees so that the hand can hold the grip and the bazooka can be mounted on the shoulder!. The sight actually comes on line with the mono eye when this is done, a pretty nice touch IMHO. Backpack - Nothing too special here. Overall, a very nice toy for $20.00. Weathering and detailing does not come even close to any of the other Arch Enemy releases, and I really don't like the coral pink color, but overall, very much worth the money. Pics to follow, and will accept Pic requests....
