For pure value, the Yamato Escaflowne is worth the money. But ultimately, I was very disappointed. I think, however, that the reason the toy failed so many expectations is because they built it up for so long, and because it is CLEAR when you transform the thing that it is a prime example of something that looks good in Anime, but just doesn't work in the physical medium. I would be willing to bet that the animators never thought through an actual transformation sequence, they probably just drew it in Dragon mode, and Guymelef mode, and then flubbed the split second transformation. This left Yamato to try and figure out how to make the thing do what the Anime said it would do, but in reality it didn't work too well. I hated the way the head was on a hinge that just hung about 1/2 inch over the shoulders. But hey, it was the best toy I ever bought for $60 bucks, then had to sell for $30.

OK, I just have to know... WHY the hell do you want or need 7 of the same Valkyrie? I can understand maybe 1 to play with, 1 to keep MISB, and 1 to sell off twenty years from now when they might be worth something. But 7???

Put me down for some of the standing figs as well. - depending on price.

That's cool, I like the 5-screw idea!!. As to the verniers, that could get interesting since you'd have to put them all over....

IMHO, the pilot fig was OK, but at 1/72 scale, it looked like one of the little blue rocks out of my kid's aquarium. No fault of Yamato, but 1/72 is just too small to show any real detail. And the FP's are really small.

A couple of things to consider.... HG may send you a letter or a lawyer with a machete if they find out you have that on your arm and aren't paying them royalties for it . J/K...seriously though... The logo would be pretty cheap as far as tats go it's very simple, and only a few colors. However, I'm not sure how well the white would work, or if they could do it at all. Depending on the size of the design, there could be quite a bit of red in there, and that's cool, but it means longer in the chair while they try to grind a nice even color across the tat (that is, if your tat artist is worth a crap). Plus, with all that red, any fading, or uneven coloring is going to stick out like a sore thumb, so just find a good artist. I personally would go for the skull design that goes right behind the canopy on the DYRL planes, but that's just me. Finally, and I can't stress this enough....DON'T GO CHEAP You said yourself, you need something you can live with forever, so the worst thing you can do is go to some ghetto parlor, or even worse the "my buddy's friend does tattoos out of his house" etc. Do some research, find the best one in your area, and if you have to pay a little more, GOOD, you are getting a better piece of art after all. OH, and if you don't hear the hum of the autoclave, and watch them unwrap a fresh needle, GET UP AND LEAVE. I had a friend one time that called me up at all hours of the night, wanting me to come watch him get his tattoo, and when I got there the place was a dump, the kid doing the tat had crappy looking tats all over himself (bad sign) and there was no autoclave in sight. When I asked my friend if he had seen this kid unwrap the needle, he said "NO, does that matter?" In the era of bloodborne bugs that can kill your ass, I would say that it does.

Well, that's smart. "Hey, everyone, shoot the big spinny thing, that's where the people are!!" No wonder the Minbari had us on the brink of total defeat. -
Hey, I tried, I really tried... and I don't know if it was the crap animation, the way they reused footage at least a dozen times, the little fuzzy whatthehell that hung out on that dude's shoulder, or the faggy red valqueery with it's sound pods, and harry potter at the controls....oh and the music that sucked. Something about it just turned me off........

Proof that CN is going to butcher Gundam SEED

Not to sound too much like a fanboy, but the giant bouncing boobies that were in the credits, yet NEVER IN THE SHOW aside from Murrue's repeated jiggling in her seat when the ship got hit was so misleading!. "We were totally lied to by our album covers!" -

The other thing about the Babylon 5 ships that always annoyed me was...... Wouldn't they produce gravity only in the section that was rotating? The rest of the ship would be totally gravity free. Of course, in space travel is that there is no gravity, no drag, and no up and down, so in reality, probably the most realistic sci fi space ship was the Borg cube, or the original flying saucers from the 50's. They don't need to be aerodynamic since there is no drag, and if you notice, the Borg cubes were always rotating, which would create gravity inside the ship. The Borg ship also illustrates another good point though. Technically, no matter what the shape of the vessel, as long as it was rotating, it would produce gravity of it's own. So, really, if you can imagine the Enterprise (or whatever) literally spinning through space on a flat axis, it would have gravity, and as long as that big flat axis was in the general direction of where they wanted to go, it wouldn't matter since there is no drag for them to fight against. Of course, if the spinning ship created it's own gravity, then as speed increased, there would be some structual wear to worry about within it's gravity well which is why the Enterprise would fall apart in an atmosphere. Also a reason why the original flying saucer concept probably still makes the most sense. -

Speaking of CN pranks....did anyone catch the first episode of Witch Hunter Robin the second time they showed the series?. Someone had gone in, and altered everyone's faces so they were sporting big moustaches and beards and glasses etc. They re-aired the non-altered version the next night. I don't think it was an intentional prank on their part, it seemed like someone had actually doctored the film. -

Or hith red thwingline thapler. I wonder if this dude might someday surpass the fame of the fabled fat kid swinging the lightsaber.... And yes, ManFaye is planet forbidden around here, but it's not like I opened a new thread for it or directly posted pics or anything. If we can all see what religion Tron is, I think we can handle a little ManFaye.

Oh, I dunno.... Maybe something like.... THIS!!!

Yeah, it looks awesome, don't get me wrong!! It's just the main portion of the boosters that is still darker than most of the other armor parts. Strangest thing though is that with all that white, and accented gray, it's starting to look like a Gundam to me.
-
Thanks for the nut sac pic Blaine You'll smoke a turd in hell for that!
-
Awesome, except that all of the armor is painted except the booster packs, which makes them stick out like a sore thumb. Any valk pilot that had customized his stuff to that level would not stop at the booster packs I think. Nonetheless, you've done an awesome job of rendering someone's dream into reality. Sweet.

I'm not sure if that's funny or just plain scary. I told him to destoy his apartment, and he actually started chucking seat cushions off of the couch... Y'know, on second thought, I've decided, it's just CREEPY!
