I have had the same experience. IMHO, the best way to screen cap DVD's is to use the built in screen cap feature that is in most of the better DVD player programs out there. Those have always worked for me.

Is there a good Swordfish II toy?
Mechamaniac replied to Qrusader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, the Bandai Anime Collector's series had a Swordfish II toy that came with a Spike, Faye, and Ein Figure. It is pretty good overall, not too far from the kit in many ways, but it could have been much better with just a few minor features. But it has retractable landing gear, a rotating cannon, folding wings, removeable missiles, and some decent weathering. You can find em on Ebay from time to time. -
Whoa, $29 bucks per figure? Any idea how big these are? I'd hate to shell out near $30 bucks, and have them be CM's Figure size. (OK, so I paid that much for my series 1 Hikaru and Minmay, but that don't count!!! ) And anyone who thinks that the Faye figure is fanservice driven is absolutely RIGHT. Faye IS fanservice, she is the most bodacious character ever to grace the anime screen by far. The only one who takes the cake from Faye is that drunken slurm Misato from Evangelion.

I'll send it to you when I get home, I think I still have the originals. BTW - I like the most recent lineart box with the sharon pic, but the little battroid pics look out of place. Suggestion - perhaps we can use the Battroid pics closer to full size if we make some custom DVD covers. Two pics, two DVD's if we use the OVA, that way, we can use the Battroid pics, as they are very cool, but IMHO, they crowd up the fighter lineart sides, and draw attention away from them.

I should have checked this thread before.... That Bender is awesome!!
-
Sweet!!. BTW - The transformable thing was purely in jest.
-
Coming back to this thread.... Any idea what the cost of these will be?. And is there any detail to the cockpits? Are there pilot figs?, will canopy glass be included? Landing gear?. Are they transformable ?

For SALE Section needs some Rules!
Mechamaniac replied to Kamineko's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
I agree with Blaine and JSA. Caveat Emptor, and this is coming from someone who recently got cornholed by Mechafrakk. Asking Shawn, Graham or any of our overworked Mods to police the For Sale section will ultimately only lead to it's being shut down completely. Very few forums of this type have For Sale threads, and it is a fantastic thing that Shawn et al have provided for us, so IMHO we should all just be responsible, follow a few basic tenets, and keep it the way it is. -
Zentradi and Meltlandi are correct and official. Meltohlaeundy/Meltohlauendy is not correct or official. Thank Kawamori!! I get so sick and tired of seeing those spellings.

Well, 4 of the 5 planned episodes of Zero have been released now, and I can't help but feeling that they are leaving ALOT to be resolved in the last 30 minute episode due out this fall. I know I will be missing some, but here are the storylines they have to draw shut within 30 minutes.... WTF the AIFOS is.... WTF is up with Mao, Sara, and the Mayans... Focker vs Ivanov Nora vs. Shin WTF happened to Edgar? WTF is up with Focker and Aries? Now that Focker and Shin are flightless, will there be a VF-1X making an appearance?? How did they survive the island being firebombed? And that's not counting the expected fan service.... Will the ASS-1 make an apperance? Any other characters from SDF Macross? Will they wrap up the Anti-UN conflict? Like I said, I know I am missing some, but those are what is on the top of my head this morning.... I for one, think they will be hard pressed to adequately answer all of these questions in one more episode. I wonder if they are planning anything afterwards?, are they extending the OVA?, do they plan a movie?, another OVA?

What about increasing the size of the Battroid pics, and making them the spine?

LOL the M9 Beretta. I had occasion to carry both the M1911A1, and later the M9 Beretta when I was an MP. I must say, the Beretta was much more accurate than the centuries old Remington Rand 1911, however, I have a soft spot for old slabsides. And I too was a machine gunner like Noriko, cept I miss my PIG, my big old heavy M-60. I do love to rock and roll. As to the BFK (Big frakkin Knife), the M9 bayonet is a piece of crap, I much prefer my Gerber BMF, or a good old fashioned K-Bar. And JSA is correct on the gas mask thing, pieces of crap they are. The funny thing is that if you have ever done a full MOPP swap out in the field, you realize how wholly fraked you really would be in the event of a real NBC attack. Funnier still is that the MOPP gear that we use has never been tested in live combat, so they estimate that you get 12 hours out of it before you have to swap out, but noone really knows.

Velcro is not all bad... When I was in the Army, I knew some Air Force pukes who would take their BDU's to the tailor, and have them DE-Buttoned, and fitted with Velcro. They weren't too stringent on the uniform regs as we were in the Army. Velcro is OK if you're in garrison, but out in the field, nothing like ripping open a velcro secured pocket in the forest to make a distinctive sound and alert everyont to your exact position, that crap is loud!.

Too bad whoever took the picture didn't get the sign in front of it, it likely contained the price info, the others around it do.

Feh, they can keep that little varmint cartridge. Give me a man's rifle chambered in 7.62 x 51MM NATO. But that's a discussion for the Official Weapons Banter Thread.

Now that looks nice!

News on Terminator 4....and 5?
Mechamaniac replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
God I hope not. Arnold said during the election that he had "plenty of money", that being said, he doesn't need the cash that crappy sequels would provide. The last Terminator film was mediocre at best. I sincerely hope he doesn't cheapen himself by continuing a franchise that really should have died after T2. -
I think it looks cool, but it needs to be UNIFORM. Lose the old ass woodland camo flak vest, it makes it look like we bought our equipment at Sunny's Surplus. JSA - I get it, I was just sticking up for the regular guy that's all. Nuthin but love fo yo ass .

Nice to see you have such a high opinion of those "box pitchers" who keep your elite friends fed and clothed in the long run. . Let's not forget that even those "box pitchers" went through a pretty fair amount of blood, sweat and tears just to become "box pitchers". I speak from both sides of the fence, I held three MOS's when I was in the active Army, and the reserves for 8 years. I have held both REMF, and Combat Arms MOS's, and it doesn't bother me. But I guess, not being "elite" I'm not entitled to an opinion. I guess I'll just go back to pitching boxes full of all the signal and voice intelligence I gathered when I was a lowly REMF, and I'll pitch them to the scumbags, and POW's I handled when I was an MP.

Those are truly awesome!. RECAST!!!!!

So, just being in the Army, or any branch of the military for that matter isn't a reason to think you're someone special?. I understand the position of those who wore the berets before hand, but there are other ways to distinguish members of elite units, the SF wear their unit patch behind the SF emblem or rank for example. Really, the only group this "infringed" upon were the Rangers since they were the ones who tradtionally wore the Black beret. The could just as easily be distinguished by wearing the Ranger tab on the beret, or perhaps with a slash of red ribbon or something to indicate that they stand out from the rest. Sorry, but the Army has needed a makeover for a while. Particularly in their dress uniform department. I used to joke with my fellow soldiers whenever we had an inspection that I looked about as good as one could while wearing a green polyester suit. The Army class-A's were designed in the late 60's, complete with wide lapels and all (Groovy man!). I for one wish they would revert to the old WWII style Class A's and Class B's with the belted coat, that was a nice looking uniform.
-
Jeez, what was wrong with my good old fashioned BDU's! Seriously, whatever works best, and the guys are most comfortable in is fine with me, but DAMN, the Army really has to redo the sew on qualification badges, those shitty green patches sewn on make it look like we're some third world, ragtag army that can't afford it's own uniforms. BTW - I'm still pissed that they adopted the beret as the standard headgear AFTER I got out .

UGH, why have you maimed my Monster so!! Those cannons are way too short.
