  1. True dat.. Misa is the original Macross hottie, I never cared for Minmay.
  2. Only if Misa was being played by Jenna Jameson. I love 99% of it, but her face just doesn't look like Misa, the body, the hair, everything else is spot on, but the face doesn't look like Misa.
  3. Am I the only one that doesn't think that dude is even remotely funny? His disheveled slacker look was cool for about 20 seconds, but now, he just rehashes the same disheveled slacker in every movie he's in.
  4. NICE! But, I would lose the bee stung lips, Misa never had them. If her face looked a little more like Misa, then it would be a slam dunk. Still damned nice, nicer than my stick figure drawing ass could do!
  5. As soon as I saw that, I recorded it on my TiVo. Now, if I can get it off of there, I will post it. It is cool to hear someone blast the cartoon network for their constant schedule changing, but at the same time, it lumps all Anime fans into that "lonely loser" category which I'm happy to say just isn't true.
  6. OK, since you guys are interested in updates... Here's the almost ready to paint parts.... I have to admit that my skills really only extend as far as prepping, and trust me, I have put probably 24 hours into just prepping this baby!. I don't think I will assemble too many more of the sub assemblies, though I may go ahead and put on the bottom of the fuselage. Some of the pieces are still in the stage of being puttied to cover small airholes etc, but I should be done with it in a couple of days. I am doing mine gear up, so I have puttied in the rear landing gear bays, but I will leave the front bay open, I kind of like the way it looks, and it will work well for the front peg of my tri-legged stand. I'm also doing mine with closed cockpit. This one doesnt seem to have the detail that the YF-19 cockpit does, so I will just have it permanently closed. Anyway, when I'm done, it's going of to MSLZ22 since I really liked the two tone paint job he did, and I lack almost all but the basic painting skills. Thanks for the interest.

Personally, I don't get it at all... I have both the normal versions of Hikaru and Minmay, and I see no reason to improve on them. Hikaru NEVER had that color on his helmet. Minmay looks like she's about to give the finger to the audience. WTF? Now, had they made say...TV Flight Suit Hikaru, and TV dressed Minmay, THEN they would be rare, and custom. I agree with what "Question" said, these are rare, solely for the sake of being rare, and TOTALLY not worth what they are being sold for.
  8. What about the silly bonus materials that are on the FX Macross 7 DVD's? There was some similar program with this guy and girl talking about Macross, and they brought in what looked like a 1990 reissue 1S, and the dude was fumbling all over himself trying to transform it etc. It would be nice to see that stuff on there.
  9. Well, the BEST you can get is the official R2 release from Bandai/Emotion. It is the best in terms of video and sound quality etc. However, if you don't have a region free player or DVD ROM drive, and if you'd rather not spend $80 on one NON SUBTITLED DVD, then the FX is the best one to get. And yes, btw, that version is the FX version.
  10. Man, I wish EXO hadn't posted those pics of the IMAI kit next to the 1/48... Though it proves that Toynami (for once) didn't just straight out rip off a pre-existing design, it also proves that the IMAI looks 50,000 percent better than that MPC. Iunno, I think it looks kind of crappy, and is too itty bitty for my $80.00. If it hits the clearance rack, then I'll buy one. If my not buying it means that there are no Treads made, then...sorry guys. That is the lamest excuse ever, buy crap so that we have enough money to make some other crap. No different than Yamato with their junky 1/100 VF-0 toys that I won't be buying either.
  11. OK guys, here's a minor update on the kits I got Friday..... So far, I have spent about 16 hours on the YF-21. I have come pretty far, but not as far as I would like to have... The kit looks GREAT!, and is very clean especially for a recast. However, it does need a little cleanup. So far, I have glued the engine halves together, and glued the nosecone section to the top of the fuselage. I spent most of my time so far removing extra flash, sanding, and re-etching the panel lines to make them cleaner and deeper. Again, the cast on the 21 is superb, but it's gonna need primer, and some coats of paint, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to enhance them a bit. Here's a pic so far of the body section with the nosecone attached.... I haven't snapped pics yet of the wings, and the engine halves and the rest of the parts that I have cleaned up as well, just thought I would show you guys how awesome this kit is!. As to the 19, this is the furthest I have gotten.... Just playing around, and seeing if the 1/48 pilot would fit, and he does!. I'll keep you guys posted as I finish more....should I start a new thread?
  12. The first time I saw DYRL was back in about 88 or 89 at a screening put on by the Maryland Institute and College of Art. There was this dude there that ran their anime club. It was funny as hell because this guy wore a jacket that had the Minmay DYRL logo on the back painted, and yet he told a few of my friends and I that WE were too into Macross... Shortly thereafter I purchased COTB (actually bought it in the BX when I was stationed in Japan because I recognized the SDF 1 on the cover image, and like JSA, I was shocked beyond repair. I rented the original VHS tape when I was in Japan and made a copy of it that I watched into oblivion. I too hope that BW and HG would just put aside their crap for once, and allow this landmark piece of anime history be released legitimately in the US, but hey, I have my FX boot, and the official R1 version on DVD so I'm happy enough.
  13. Yeah, the FX set is nice.... Except for the few episodes where they refer to Planet Dance repeatedly as PARRY STANCE
  14. Yeah yeah, rub it in, you got a copy of my YF-19 and I don't have any of them yet. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I haven't even started to prep the 19 yet.... I thought the 21 would be the more complicated of the two, but after getting them, I know I was wrong!.
  15. Got my kits today. HOLY CRAP! THE YF-21 is MASSIVE!!!! I am so in over my head. Thanks MSLZ22 and MYERSJESSE, you d00dz ROCK!
  16. According to the compendium, DYRL was released 20 years ago on July 7. So, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO DYRL! We didn't even get a card....
  17. EH?? I thought the animation in Evangelion was not that good at all. Coversely, I was very impressed with most of the animation in Macross 7, especially the character animation.
  18. No, that's a 1/48. The 1/60 valks didn't have the telltale kneecaps that the 1/48 does.
  19. No, none of them are.... PG's are 1/60th scale. Just goes to show you how much bigger Gundams are than Valks!.
  20. DAMN, that chubby Faye looks like she should be in the user submitted photo section of last month's Easyriders. Chubby barslurm Faye
  21. I like the RX-78! Guess that makes me a freak I have to admit that the animation makes the RX-78 2 not only ugly, but BUTT FUGLY. However, I had a change to snag a completed RX-78 2 PG Model at a super cheap price, and it is rapidly becoming my second favorite Gundam PG. It just looks SO MUCH BETTER when designed in CAD.
  22. Still noone knows where plushie Guvava came from???? Graaaahammmmmm!!!
  23. Actually, as a huge Gundam fan, I don't think it's "samey" at all. I mean, yeah, you have the same theme that flows through out most of the series..."War is bad!", but as Eugimon said... If you think of the mechs in Gundam as the universal backdrop for more personal stories, then there is a whole new dynamic to the series. At least, the more modern series anyway... 0079 & Char's Counterattack - These set the stage for the central Gundam theme, and really were just Amuro vs. Char for the most part. CCA was an OK way to develop some characters from the original series, but unfortunately, it dealt with most of them in typical Transformers the Movie fashion. I can't speak for Z or ZZ, I haven't seen them. 0080 - Told through the eyes of a child who thinks (like most kids) that war is cool and glorious, and finds out that it really is not. Yeah, the "war is bad" theme is definitely here, but the personal story is cool nonetheless. 08th Team - Throw away the interpersonal relationships for this one. They are important to be sure, but the really cool thing IMHO about 08th Team is that it showed an alternative use to the mechs. It gives you the portrayal of platoons of mechs roaming the Earth, not just flying around in space, and shows you the work that it would take to keep those things going. NOW, fold in the pretty standard theme of loving your enemy, war is bad etc. 0083 - Alot of 0083 is pretty much standard Gundam, but this series shows you what happens when two regular guys wind up piloting mobile suits. Take notice that they never refer to Uraki as a Newtype and there is never any mention of him having special psychic powers etc, he is just a kid who through hard work learns how to be a good pilot. Of course, the central Gundam theme is there....war is bad, war is bad....COLONY DROP!!! IMHO, the Gundam series that seem to parody themselves are really the AU series. Wing and G Gundam especially. SEED is IMHO, one stop shopping for the younger Gundam crowd. It takes elements of ALL of the previous Gundam series, and folds them up into one neat little package with new CG animation. So, SEED is really, just Star Trek XXXVI, the Search for More Money. How is it that you don't see the same trend in Macross???? SDF - War is bad, unstoppable enemy, Love and music will conquer all. DYRL - ditto Macross II - AU rehash of SDF Macross...so.....ditto Macross 7 - ditto Macross Plus - OK, this one deviates significantly. Macross Zero - Noone really knows what's going to happen yet, but it appears that once again, War is bad, Nora and Ivanov certainly appear to be unstoppable, and Shin and Sara have got a little love and music thing going on which will probably eventually conquer all.
  24. After seeing all of the movies, I wish I had taken the blue pill, and never seen them, or knew they existed. The only way I find them entertaining at all is by humming "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas every time they launch into a protracted 35 minute fight scene. ****SPOILER WARNING***** Oh, and I thought it was pretty entertaining when Neo got his eyes burned out of his head, and Trinity got wasted.
  25. On the subject of cutesy stuff... Who made the plushie Guvava fig shown at the AX panel?
