Well HOLY CRAP!!! In my search for a hog(killing)leg, I stopped by my local armory today on the way home from work. Told em I was in the mood for a big bore battle pistol with which to shoot a big pig, and they produced this beast!!! Smith & Wesson's new 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum pistol! This sucker is HUGE, and very very front heavy. It comes pre-ported (thank jeebus) and packing a serious wallop... This round packs DOUBLE, yes DOUBLE the wallop of the most heavily loaded 44 Magnum bullet. It straight outmatches .454 as well. Funny thing, the guy had an empty shell casing into which he was able to drop a complete .44 Magnum round! In all, WAAAAY too much gun, but neat nevertheless. I can't imagine touching off this hand cannon anywhere, and what's worse? THEY MAKE THIS BEAST WITH A 4" BARREL AS WELL!!! -
Caught a burglar red-handed in my house!

NICE!! Though, I myself would have BA-DUKED that little bastard rather than wrestled with him. The cop had a good point, even aside from being shot or stabbed, you could have been bitten, spit on, bled on, stuck with a needle etc etc. I must quote the great Ted Nugent here... -

True, and to a novice shooter, an automatic misfeed, or misfire would mean instant panic, however, I am both Military and Police trained and know how to handle an automatic. Shot placement is KEY as in anything else, and I'm not one of those shitheads who think that if it holds 15 rounds, you should put all of them in the beast. I was raised to be a one shot, one kill kind of guy. If I were to go revolver though, I would definitely go big bore, but .45 LC or something of that class, I've never been a fan of .44 Mag. I'm really starting to warm up to the Glock 20 in 10MM though. Yeah, it's butt fugly, but they are the shiznit, and I don't think anyone else makes an automatic in 10MM that is in the affordable price range (non-custom trick gun). If I could, I'd grab one of the old Colt 10MM Delta Elite's, but those were a pretty penny back in the day, and I'm sure they are even more so now. -

Nah... the danger is part of the fun. It will be pistol only for me. Well, a pistol, and a BFK!. My dad had a similar experience with .45 ACP though. The first time he tried with hollowpoints, and like I said, the bullet hit the gristle plate, the hollow point filled up with gristle, and did not expand or penetrate past the gristle plate. He drilled that one with a 10MM Glock, and it went down like a ton of bricks. The next time, he used his .45 again, but used FMJ hardball ammo, and it worked fine. I really don't care for rifles in that kind of environment, we're talking chest deep swampy stuff here. -

Yeah, I really don't like revolvers unless they are the good old fashioned S&W Model 29 (AKA too much barrel) or the old black powder models (Outlaw Josey Wales). I have fired the Desert Eagle in .44, and it was just too much gun. It fired like a sweetheart, but ammo was way expensive, and the thing was just too big for my hand. I prefer automatics, so, realistically, I'm probably looking at a 1911 model, or a Sig Sauer. Glocks are functional as all hell, but aesthetics counts too, and they are fugly, and too spartan for my tastes. -

OK all you gun nuts.....It's opinion time... Later this year, or early next year, I will FINALLY be going on the long awaited Wild Boar hunt that my dad does every year. He's been wanting me to go forever, but job, family, young kids blah blah have been pre-occupying me lo these many years past... Anyhoo, I finally have a chance to go, and here's the sweet part of the deal.... Even though my Dad is more than willing to loan me one of his big bore pistolas, I told my wife that I cannot go using another man's hardware. Sorry, but you just don't borrow another guy's stuff to go running through the swamp chasing after large, ugly, hairy mammals that have the potential to kill you back. So, that being said, it's time for me to pick up a new toy!..... (JOYGASM!!) I said all that to say this... Looking for opinions on the best big bore battle pistol to get. I don't intend on lugging a rifle through the swamps of Georgia, so it must be a pistol. I prefer an automatic, as I have the most experience with them. So, what shall it be gents?, I really don't like overpriced hand cannons so the Desert Eagle .44 and .50 are out. I intend to shoot hardball through it, as hollowpoints really don't work well on Boar since they have the gristle plate that eats up hollowpoints like crazy. Opinions?? -
Nah, I don't think those will look right if we use the full length images.... Try using the ones that TLW originally posted.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...pic=5050&st=820

OK guys, I got in touch with Paul, and if we want to proceed with the case, here's what we need to do... 1. - He really needs high res imags of the blueprint designs so he can test them. He is not entirely sure that they will work. 2. He thinks the cockpit designs would work much better, so if everyone is OK with that, then I can get TLW to get me some scans to send to Paul. So, either way, we have to get high res versions of the images to him. LMK what you guys think.

Hmmmm, that might cost them some serious bucks. Let's break it down... Cost of the Dhow Cost of the cargo Cost of the fuel Cost to replace the lifetime salaries of 15 crewmembers. Total settlement amount? I figure it comes to right about $60 bucks. -
Aannnnnd.... Where can we lay our hands on these?

Iunno, something tells me that the Dhow is probably slightly smaller, and alot more maneuverable than the JFK. Ummm, which one of the 15 idiots on the Dhow didnt see the GIGANTIC FLOATING CITY coming towards them? -
The DUTCH factor.. Importance of PREDATOR
Mechamaniac replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I voted option 2. I really don't consider Predator a sci-fi movie. I mean, yeah, it had an alien in it, but other than that, it really was just a kickass, bloodletting, lead slinging, wang dang, bombastic, ass kicking free for all!! What is priceless in Predator are the team interaction scenes, and their sheer willingness to lay down fountains of lead at the drop of a hat. Also cool were the many, many ways that dudes got mangled in that film. I mean, where else do you get guys getting blow'd up, pasted with plasma blasts, impaled, skinned, and deboned, pinned to trees (Stick around!), pummeled with log traps, evicerated, and just generally shot, and beat the hell up....all in one film!! They really took ass kicking to a new level in that movie. Predator is one of my favorite films of all time. And I totally agree with Blaine23 on this one, second best Arnie film, no doubt. Arnie will never EVER top Conan, it was just the coolest. Coolest quote from Predator????? EASY. Time to pull old painless outta the bag! Also, strange that this topic should come up just three days after the LONG AWAITED release of the Predator Special Edition DVD set. Yeah, the same one you limeys in region 2 have been able to get for years.... Going to get my copy tonight as a matter of fact... -
My absolutely perfect day !

Yeah yeah, go ahead, and rub it in you lucky Canuck! Must be nice to stroll down to your local tobacconist, and be able to buy Cubans LEGALLY! Those of us in the US still have to smuggle them back from places like....well......Canada I myself would have gone for a nice Bolivar Corona. But since I'm in the US, and all the Cubans here were bought up by JFK the week before he signed the embargo, I guess I'll just have to stick with my Romeo y Julieta Cedros No 2's until I get another trip out of the country so I can bring me back some nice Cubanos. -

Number 6 with Barbeque is pretty good. Number 7 with Blowtorch was funny as hell. Number 10 with Doc, also funny as hell. 16 & 24 with Deepsix are cool (the Buzz Lightyear comment rocks!) Number 17 with Recondo and the refrigerator game is pretty good. Number 22 with Gung-Ho, priceless! The rest of them however were like an inside joke between a couple of potheads. They would be a lot funnier if dude didn't have people mumbling and talking gibberish all the time. -
Greg, I don't have the words, I truly don't. We have dealt many times back and forth, and you're one of the most standup guys around here. You are in my thoughts man, come back soon.

New Polar Lights NCC-1701 Refit
Mechamaniac replied to B-52 GUNNER's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I'd buy it, but it would just sit uncompleted, or half finished like all the refit model kits I had after Wrath of Khan came out back in the 80's. -
Then that would make Max a Captain after all. Edited first post.
-
I happen to have the DVD with me so I popped it into my laptop here at work, and proceeded to goof off. Kakizaki refers to him as "Max taii" So, per the rank structure, Kakizaki is referring to Max as Captain Max.

Yes, I already programmed that one into my cel phone's date book... I will be there!.

Iunno, at 2 feet tall, and about a hundred bucks, it would at least be cool to chase my 2 year old around with.

Sorry mods for the cross post, but this is too underhanded to be purely coincidental. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=0entry175205 To make a long story short, I had my Macross Panel set in stone since February, and within the last week, all of the sudden HG is doing a RT panel and planning to show off the new MPC Alpha at the exact same time as the Macross Panel. I don't doubt for a second that HG found out about the Macross panel, and decided to torpedo us, it is right up their alley. Anyway, read the other link, and draw your own conclusions, but I would love to see as many East Coast Macross World Members as possible show up to our panel. Again, the time is Friday, July 30th from 8:30 to 9:30 PM in Panel Room 3.
