Guess what....another NEW Gundam figure line
Mechamaniac replied to GRAND CANNON's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Meh, except for the color schemes, those look like crap. They are just too small and cheap to show any real detail. -
OK, forget my bellyaching about the controller. I picked up the bundle tonight, and all I can say is....... No, wait, it's more like..... Nah, on second thought, it's definitely.....

Hey, has anyone seen this??? http://shop.store.yahoo.com/saitekusa/mustflsimco.html Probably wouldn't work for many of us fat lazy Americans. Looks like it is made for the 12-15 year old crowd, or all those under 140 lbs. But still neat.

On a controller related note... Since this controller is obviously some variant of the Saitek X45, and we know the controller to be backwards compatible with AC4, and compatible (with drivers) for certain PC games.... Has anyone tried the Saitek X45 with the PS/2 or more notably, with this game?. I have been drooling over the X45 forever, and if I could buy that, and use it with my PS/2, then I would definitely do so.

Cute girls should be nice to their Photocopier.
Mechamaniac replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That is funny as hell. And yeah, the chick is hot. -
So I'm definitely getting this game tomorrow. BUT - which version to get? Should I get the controller as well? Who has the controller so far?

I played a rip of Vice City for a while, but it got old after a few hours. Maybe it's because my Dad was a cop, but playing the criminal just doesn't appeal to me. I enjoyed capping the other sleazebags like myself though. Of course, the game takes on a whole new meaning when you see your 13 year old neice playing it. I'm gonna sound like an old fuddy duddy here, but I really think that games like that should be kept out of the hands of impressionable children. But hey, the decline and ultimate collapse of our society is inevitable anyway, so why not have a little fun? (PS - I did enjoy yanking people out of their cars, but most of the cars where crap I wouldn't drive. The only one I liked to steal was the Hummer because I can't afford one in real life. I bypassed all the little ghetto hugs, and redneck street rods.)

Alien toys, whos made them
Mechamaniac replied to do not disturb's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wow, that Galoob toy is indeed fugly. If I may ask, why did you pay a ton for such an ugly toy? Did you not know it was hideous? -
Yep, lousy. As were all of the matchbox RT toys that they did not copy from old Takatoku stuff.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) DVD
Mechamaniac replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, but since we are talking about corpses here, wouldn't they eventually rot down to the bones? I'd say if they gave it a year or so in an isolated community that those infected would eventually decompose, that is if they could remain alone for that amount of time. Kind of like the living zombies in 28 Days Later. All they really needed to do was wait for them to starve. The original DotD even let that clue in as zombies started to rot as was evidenced by the bodies in the parking lot of the mall. That's exactly what I was thinking. In the new edition, you can clearly see some of the zombies outside of the armored vans are rotting away. Assuming that the whole world was infected within a few weeks time as both versions suggest, I think within 90 days, most of the zombies would have decomposed to the point of no longer being very mobile. Funny that it never occurred to the characters in either version to armor themselves. The folks in the 2K4 spent a long time building up their escape vehicles, but never gave a thought to what would happen if they had to dismount them. I'm sure they could have found something in that mall to armor themselves with. I know if it was me, I would be hammering trash cans into plate mail if that's what it took. -
Dawn of the Dead (2004) DVD
Mechamaniac replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's kind of the point....the island they found wasn't uninhabited. And they weren't talking about the ocean, they were talking about the islands in Lake Michigan. They ran out of fuel, and so, had to touch down at the first island they came to due to lack of food and water as seen in the vid clips during the credits. As luck would have it, that was the wrong one. Personally, the idea of going out to sea is probably a pretty good one in that situation, but to work, you would have to STAY out at sea. If I was on that boat, we would have been eating dog while we took a nice wind blown circuit around the island to make sure there were no ex-people. It was a sailboat after all. -
aww i liked the look of it before. the stuffed animals looked great and the lady who worked in the bar wasn't bas either Anchorage airport freaked me out man.... I was there in the summer of 91 when I came home on leave from Japan. Got there early in the morning at Elmendorf AFB, hopped a commercial flight from Anchorage to Baltimore that left at like 9 or 10 that night. Sat at the gate in the airport for most of the day and night, it was a giant circular array of windows that overlooked (or underlooked) the mountains etc around the airport. All this was very beautiful, except that it never got dark, and that really F'd up my sleep patterns! I could totally relate to the Pacino flick Insomnia after that.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) DVD
Mechamaniac replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
JSA, let's be honest here, we're not talking about an Oscar contender here. I don't think anyone here was expecting Silkwood when they went into the theatre. Do we really have to waste time developing characters that ulimately die anyway? The point here is to tell the story of how they managed to survive as long as they did. Also, in the situation the film lays out, it doesn't matter at all who or what the characters are or were. Case in point was Michael, who worked at Best Buy before the infestation. Did it matter that he worked at Best Buy?. No. The point is that the character had courage, and in the new reality they all found themselves in, that was more important than what he did to earn a living. I really don't think that the director was trying to make this some sort of social commentary, or reveal anything new that we haven't seen before. The point of this movie, is the same as the point of the original, and that is... The fittest survive It's fun to kill zombies It's gallows humor at it's finest. -

Whoa, does anyone know where to get the OVA?
-
Man, that F'ing blows I have downloaded ZZ complete and fansubbed but I don't want to watch it until I see Zeta first. oh well, I also have V Gundam to eat up some time with. Bandai better not screw us out of F91 too.

I didn't say that everyone else sucks... What I said was that the Yamato Q-Rau sucks. Pay attention d00d! Seriously, this is a $50.00 toy at best. They just have these priced way too high IMHO, considering it's lack of poseability, crappy (or non-existent) pilot figure, lack of, lights, or any other bell and whistle type stuff that make the 1/48 Valks worth what they are sold for. By all means, buy em up!. Take one (or two) for the team as Haterist is doing. I'm not stopping you, or ridiculing you. I AM however, ridiculing what is considered by many on these boards to be an overpriced, and substandard toy.
-
Yay, another overpriced chunk of immovable, non-transformable plastic like the first one!. Except that this one doesn't even have a figure that we can all complain doesn't have blue enough hair, or a round enough butt (for all you nancyboys who would care about Max's rump ) Oh, I forgot, this one is BLUE! Didn't get the first one, won't be getting this one.
-
Why, oh why? Can't you guys make some stuff to augment the 1/48 Yammies?? I know, cost etc.... But I'm not talking about doing the launch vehicle in 1/48...I'm talking much smaller scale stuff.... I can't think of a better person to tackle two seater conversion parts, GBP, Stampede, Elint or Super O parts etc.

Go for the bootlegs. Having had both, I can say that the Bandai 1/65's are truly the pinnacle of the CRAP era of Bandai's history. The bootlegs for 15 bucks are equal in quality believe it or not.

Well, as I feel that The Oak is the closest thing humans have to Jesus or God, it really wouldn't make sense to have him play some character with god-like powers. Seriously though, there are a ton of other actors that I like, I mean come on... Like Van Damme, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, or anyone else in Predator. Little known fact: VD was the original predator, he was replaced before the final cut. Please, tell me that you do not really like Van Damme. VD rates up there with pot bellied Steven Seagal in the overrated B movie actor category. Both of them are world reknowned Aholes, and VD is just a Belgian sissy IMHO. Leonard Maltin summed it up best... And I lost all respect I had for Jesse Ventura after reading about his Kerry-esque misrepresentations of his time in the Navy, when he was a [wink]SEAL[/wink] in Viet Nam by way of the Phillippines. Anyway, back on topic, Reeve is the only Superman in my book, so this new endeavour looks to be a waste of time.

MMMMMmmmm polycapppss. Drool. I have to wonder how well the polycaps will hold up over time with the weight of all that horrible wonderful die cast pressing down on them.. Looking good!

I got my Zeta complete, and already built for $50 shipped from a guy who showed up here on MW to sell it off. What a guy!
