I played it for about an hour, and that was probably the strangest hour of my life thus far. It is entertaining, but definitely not worth more than $20.

AFAIK, the only pics we have high res scans of are the ones TheLoneWolf provided of the Mac Plus box images, and the composite Sharon Desert Spine done by BoBe-Patt All else is shadows and dust.
-
LOL, that's an oxymoron.

The problem is that AlphaHX's designs ROCK. However I don't know how much, if any of it is available in high res scan. Without high res scans available, it's all academic I'm afraid. Paul has what high res scans we have available, and is working on mock ups.

Who cares, it's cool! Basically this is the culmination of guys from my generation who watched the first Robotech airings fanatically, and got hooked on it, or found Macross as a result. Now those guys are 30 something, and are producing new animated TV shows and putting homages in to their old favorites.

When I found Macross World a couple of years ago, and re-kindled my Macross fandom, I was going to buy two of everything. Then, I realized that I just don't have the finances to do that with mortgage, kids, wife, cars, bills etc etc. So, my originally huge collection has now dwindled down to what I consider to be the best of the best. I only have Valks of 1/48 scale or better, and Gundams of 1/60 scale. So I decided that I like them big and detailed. While this means less physical pieces, it doesn't save me much space or money since the toys themselves are bigger, and more expensive since all I will buy are 1/48 Valks, and PG Gundams.

LOL, well, at least religious zealots are good for entertainment value when they're not trying to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

Nope, that won't work. I downloaded the latest drivers from Saitek and you will get about half way through the install when it will ask you to plug in the joystick to continue. At this time the NEXT button is grayed out, and will not highlight until you plug in a compatible joystick. So, the HORI must have different firmware as it is not recognized by the Saitek drivers. Oh well, I'll just snag a used X45 somewhere.

If it did come out after the model, it would be the first time Bandai has done so for any of the PG kits. The closest they came were the clear part / weapon add-ons for the Zaku and RX-78 PG's. Usually, with the PG's - WYSIWYG

Well, I tried the Flight Stick tonight with Mechwarrior 4, NO GO. At least not yet. The drivers I got from that other link are way too spartan IMHO. The game launches fine, and I can see the Fightstick 2 in the controller options. But when I launch a mission, the game crashes. The mouse/keyboard gameplay works fine. I also applied the latest patches from FASA, and had the problem still. I think the HORI drivers just don't provide enough support. They are not very user friendly at all with what little GUI interface they provide.

That'll teach those kids to egg his car.

Why? What if it was a mechanical malfunction? Well, I am assuming that it was not. I would think that if it had been, the ANG would have already said so. It's better to look like your planes are out of order than to have everyone think that you have insane or incompetent pilots. -

That pilot is so screwed. He'll be lucky if they let him armor all the tires from now on. -
I got the drivers for the stick, but man, the interface provided with those drivers is spartan at the very best. I wonder if there are any better interfaces available with this stick? I wonder if the Saitek X36 drivers would work with it? I'm gonna snag a copy of Mechwarrior 4 tonight on my way home, and try the stick with it on my PC.

not working... any other non-AOL/Hyperspace sources? Ihad to borrow a friend's AOL name. Sorry, I was in the process of pulling down that link, and uploading the movie to my webspace.... Should be there now... Incidentally, that trailer is the second size version, not the supersize that is available to Hyperspace members only or something like that. However, if you watch it in QT, and go to Movie then Double Size, it looks just as good.

BTW, here's a link to the trailer.... You'll need crapass Quicktime to play it. Da Trailer

Ummm, what??? I know there are some who did not like the Masayuki character designs in Plus, but overall, Plus has bar none, the BEST animation next to DYRL that the Macross franchise has ever seen. The CGI in Zero was spectacular, but the hand drawn stuff I thought was lackluster, especially the drab, one-dimensional character designs.
-
I'm digging in with Greg on this one. I felt the same way about Zero as a whole. I am willing to concede that overall, the series was worth it, if for no other reason, than we got to see some spectacular CG Valks and mechs, but aside from that, my overall opinion is MEH. *starts digging foxhole, hands shovel to Glane21*

-
Dude, where did you get the 0083 figures from???? ME WANT!

NEW Official MPC Thread!!!
Mechamaniac replied to FRED THE FRENCH's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep....$10 I could scarcely believe it myself. In all, I think Battroid is the MPC's best mode. I have it guarding my PC at work. -

LOL, I found an MPC Max at my local GameStop still in both boxes for $10.00. Even I couldn't turn it down at that price. Funny, I still felt ripped off when I got home, and started messing with it. -
Here in MD, we have the touch screen voting system for the first time around this time. I have to say that I agree with the skeptics here. This system is a monumental cluster bang. I won't go into detail, since I'm sure (I hope) that the bass ackwards system they used here isn't the same in all the other states with touch screen voting. But it's an accident waiting to happen. At this rate Nader might actually make it into office.
