Ironically, I have already downloaded the first 16 episodes from that very site. I highly recommend these fansubs to anyone interested in Yamato, they seem to be very accurate aside from some numerical errors, and the quality of them is great. I will definitely keep downloading them, but I know enough to know that I want to buy the series on DVD too. I DON'T want Starblazers. Give me my drunken, cussing, nekkid boobie women! Oh, and I am not grown up!, what fun would that be???? Man, I had already ordered the reissue Bandai Yamato toy just on general principe of it being so freaking cool. NOW, I want it even more!.

Yeah, I totally agree Keith. I don't want to have anything to do with StarBlazers, don't want to blow a shitload of money for sure , and definitely don't want anything that has been watered down. I would much rather get the HK sets and fully plan to do so. No kidding!. Ultimately, this is going to be a revelation of my own stunning hypocrisy. Though I love Gundam, I have long said that I cannot stand the original Gundam series becaue of the crap ass 70's animation, as a matter of fact, I have never even seen the whole Original Gundam series, and probably never will. But there is something about Yamato that makes me feel 5 years old again, it's stuff like Cosmo Cleaner D, and the bellbottom uniforms, and the porno 70's BGM I can't explain it, but it's so retro and campy that something struck a chord in me. Definitely, Yamato has TONS of very nationalistic overtones. The opening theme, the lyrics, and especially the scene where they say that all the other major cities are starting to dwindle. It definitely lays the scene for a "Japan has to save the entire world" plot. Thanks for the info guys, looks like on top of GITSAC, and Peacemaker Kurogane, I have yet another anime series to shell out buck$ to get. Time for a part time job at Suncoast.

Looks pretty damned sweet to me!. Nice custom!

OK, so being a child of the 70's and all, I know this will come as a shocking confession, but I have never seen Space Battleship Yamato! So, anyway, I caught a fansub of the first episode of the original Japanese series, and well, I'm hooked, I gotta see them all. So, can anyone point me at a website where I can find info about the series, or can someone here give me the rundown?. I know the original series was around 75 or 80 episodes. Wasn't there another series, and a movie or something?. Thanks!

KITT WAS NOT GAY! As a sidenote... I feel sorry for whoever had to write up the description on the back of that DVD box. Really, everyoen that cares already KNOWS what Knight Rider is, and the people that don't know aren't going to be sold by a 2-sentence description. In point of fact, you're correct. William Daniels who played K.I.T.T. is not gay, at least according to IMDB. However, with K.I.T.T.'s effeminate voice, and condescending nature, it's not a very big leap. Let's be honest, talking cars are gay no matter how you slice it. But, if K.I.T.T. were gay, that would be yet another homosexual advance that Agent ONE would have to rebuff

Ahh, Knight Rider... The shadowy flight into the world of a fluffy haired man in form fitting clothes, and his cool, although GAY talking car.

Dune Extended Version DVD in May
Mechamaniac replied to Otaku-Smeghead's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ironically, this version is the one they always show whenever they show Dune on television. Keeping with the Predator theme, the Brits have been able to get this version for years but R2 only, while those of us in the states were stuck with a royally crappy release that contained little more than the film itself. I'll definitely be getting this! -
I loaned my Macross DVD set to a friend, and he had the exact same problem. All of the other DVD's were no problem at all, but he got errors on DVD #9. On a related note, my DVD locks up whenever I try to watch it on any PC. Right in the middle of Rainy Night, it freezes when Misa and Claudia are talking and always at the same point. It works OK on my standalone, it still freezes, but only for a split second, then it is fine. Anyone else have this problem?. It seems DVD#9 is buggered up in some way.

Any update on this? -
Just read all of his editorials, pretty damned entertaining, I actually laughed out loud several times. Makes me really miss Japan, I have to go back someday when the airfare isn't 1500 bucks.

I have two Daughters, 7 and 2. On the toy front, I donated a bootleg VF-19 Blazer valk to my oldest a couple of years ago, and she digs it. I do have to dispute what you said about them not having any removable parts though Graham. Think your Valk doesn't have removable parts?, give it to a 4 year old, and you will quickly discover that you're mistaken. I don't know to this day how she did it, but one time she brought it to me so mis-transformed that I had to take the head off to get it back to where it was supposed to be. As to anime, my kids are Miyazaki junkies. You really can't go wrong with Miyazaki's stuff for the most part. They love Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Spirited Away, and watch them all the time.

New Robotech pics from Kunicon
Mechamaniac replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Umm, in order for it to be considered an OVA, it first has to be an ANIME. The Sentinels most definitely was not either. Written by Macek, overseas animation commissioned by HG, that's a cartoon, not anime. -

Very sweet custom!
-
Sweet custom, it's about time someone got around to doing that. I'm not a transfan, but like most here, I owned several Jetfires when I was a kid, all of which ceased to be Jetfire the moment I saw RT - The Macross Saga for the first time.
-
Sweet work Fulcy! This looks like it's going to be super cool!

Alright dammit, you guys have to stop posting pics, the Alpha's starting to grow on me! BTW, anyone got a Battroid vs Battroid shot of an Alpha next to a 1/48 Yammie?
-
I agree as well, but don't forget about the CM's Figs. Those are cheap to produce, and cheap to buy, and apparently, trading figures are very popular in Japan. It would be nice to see them produce some more of the Macross characters in the CM's line.

On the AG note - keep an eye on the toy section the next couple of days. I should have an update there soon - dunno if it'll be considered a significant one or not, but the AG is still alive and kicking! Yeah, you'd better hurry up!! I'd hate to see Christopher B compliment, and lambaste you at the same time too. Edit - Oops, looks like I posted too late.
