OK, here goes... The Angels are just that. They are big monsters sent to Earth to destory NERV HQ to bring about the second impact. EDIT - The reason that destroying NERV headquarters will bring about the end of the world is that NERV is built within a giant subterranean cavity in the earth that turns out to be the egg of Lilith, which is the big angel they have on ice down there with the Lance of Longinus keeping her from escaping. To jump ahead, Second Impact is the end of the world. NERV is trying to stop this from happening, however, Gendo (Shinji's father) is working secretly with SEELE trying to MAKE it happen. The EVA's are basically embued with the living spirits of the mothers of the children who pilot them. That is why EVA01 moves by itself in the first episode to protect Shinji, and why Asuka is so tied to her EVA. It basically is what allows the children to bond with, and control the EVA's so well. Hence, the 1st child 2nd child etc. There were only a few female scientists who gave their lives and allowed themselves to become the EVA's, and as such, only a few children can pilot said EVA's. Rei is a clone of Shinji's mother, and Gendo's dead wife. That is why he is so attached to her, and protects her so much. He cloned her because he could not bear to live without her, and the reason he is trying to bring about Second Impact is so he can be one with her in the Implementation project, that is, the big sea of goo and consciousness where all things are one. I think that about covers it. Check this link for more info, this dude pretty much has the series down pat... http://www.evamonkey.com/em_faq.php

Someone here should have pictures of XSTOYS fantastic scratch built custom Isamu and Guld figures from Macross Plus, complete with custom boxes. I can't find them though, but that seems to be the extent of custom 12" figs around here.

Those pics sum up just about every reason why cosplay can be bad.

Just thought they'd look cool. my PG Gundam and MG Patlabor all have LED in them. And so far they all look better then without any light. hmmm..... Maybe i'll try it on my least fav 1/48. Hikaru VF-1A for a start. Now, a really cool project that I have been meaning to get to would be to add some LED's or perhaps even a mini laser pointer into the barrels of the 1/48 strike cannon!.

Y'all shouldn't call that the switchblade, y'all should call that the leafy bug!. -
If I were you, I would take the stock heads off, and put them in storage. Get yourself a Rohby recast of the 1S, they are perfect. You can probably snag a loose J or A head from someone here in the forums, just put a Wanted post out. I have seen all of these heads disassembled, and all of them are glued at various places, and screwed in others. You also would have to modify the eyepieces to accomodate the LED's. But, on a related note....WHY?. Why make them look like MPC's?

Given the propensity of even the redesigned nosecones to fall off during transformation etc... I would rather they make a nosecone removable version. Imagine how pissed you would be if you spent forever outfitting your favorite 1/48 with the GBP only to hear it start rattling in the crotch area, and have to take it all apart again to reseat (or remove) the nosecone.

We're getting close to Macross technology
Mechamaniac replied to Protoplast's topic in Movies and TV Series
Nice, but they'd never work here in the US. The inner city urchins would have them delivering vials of crack, or covered with gang signs etc inside of a week. Or, they would just be stolen, and destroyed. -
Just browsing around, adn came across the official site for Yoshiki Fukuyama, and the second item on his main page is a reference dated 3/11/05. http://www.fukuyama-yoshiki.net/ Just wondering if anyone who can read Japanese can tell us what this is about?, Is it a tour, a CD release?. Oh, and invariably, Agent ONE will crash this thread, so I will go ahead and get it out of the way. Macross 7 is gay, and all men who are not Agent ONE are wimpy girly men, who never work out, and all women in the world including our own women want Agent ONE. That ought to about cover it I think...

Sw33t!! SO much cooler than iMacross ever was, at least speed wise!. Thanks! -
Those are cool!. But, the white looks really stark against the black background. Is there any way to get the 1S version with Rune's different colorations?
-
Sounds interesting, but it might help if you provide some links etc so that anyone who might be interested can check it out. Also, what kind of hardware would be needed, and who offers hosting etc.
-
Good idea, however, since models are blank canvases anyway, are these really "customs"? The angel birds is a canon color scheme, so IMHO, not a custom job. When I saw the thread title, I thought it must refer to modified hase kits that have been cut and modded, polycapped etc to do something they were not originally designed to to. Or, have had custom parts made to augment them etc. To me, that is a custom job. So, you may want to break the section up into Completed, and Custom sections. Those kits are beautiful and definitely need to be on the site somewhere! Edit - Also, I agree with showing breaking down the details of what went into the kit, but I'm not so sure about the "custom commission price". It would be really easy for that to denegrate into a "look how much I spend on Macross" competition.

Sousei no Aquarion.
Mechamaniac replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
What bothers me most about Aquarion, and Macross Zero, and Arjuna, all of the recent Kawamori anime is that he just can't stop hugging the phucking trees long enough to give us some decent science fiction!. Everything has to be about nature, nature, nature. Kawamori Sama..... WE GET IT ALREADY!! Earth is fragile yadda yadda yadda, ad nauseum. Next thing you know, he'll be doing an anime about saving the whales. Oh, wait, he already did, it was called Dynamite 7. How could the guy who gave us the coolest transforming mecha EVER, have slipped into such tree hugging hippiedom?. -

Now who's cranky.... -
Yup, their subs are probably the best fansubs I have seen yet. I am really happy with the Central Anime fansubs, I've got the first 17 episodes downloaded. This series just keeps getting better!. Taking a page from the end of episode recap... Bandai, hurry up and reissue the BPX-01 Yamato, people on Earth are being poisoned by the lack of this cool ass toy. Yamato toy, hurry up and begin your journey of 6800 miles from HLJ to my house!.

Of course, I did forget to mention... Toy collectors who suck at building models, pay modellers to customize their toys, so you modellers actually benefit from our existence!. Just ask Kurt, Jung etc etc. I'm sure a toy collector has put many an obscure resin kit on their "to be built....someday" shelf. -

Hey, I wasn't dumping on models! I was dumping on you talented people who have the time, inclination, tools, and most importatnly SKILLS to complete them... . That is why I buy toys, because I am TEH SUCK at building models!. -

Mechamaniac replied to captain america's topic in Model kits
amen, brother... let the kids play with there toys while daddy works with his kits I'll second that Yeah, you guys go ahead and spend hundreds of hours building your static pose model kits. Or, spend even more time customizing them with polycaps etc. I will spend that time playing with my toys that are good to go right out of the box. -
Well, you also have to remember the subplot of Guld's redemption. He realized it was he who had attacked/raped Myung when they were younger. He knew his plane had the better chance of taking out the X-9, and knew that he had a massive debt of honor to repay. In short, he did so, which was why they show his lips curling into a smile right before he takes out the X-9. He saved his friends, proved the ultimate superiority of his fighter design, and redeemed his honor.
